Hello all!

Sushi - DS2 starts school next Tuesday as well. He's been asking if it's tomorrow since the beginning of September.

Have made soggy sushi for DS1's lunch and chocolate icing and decorated cake and taught DS1 what is a quarter of 100 so he can use my scale. The kitchen is a mess and I need to get on with work. Who wants to volunteer to come and do the washing up? I have lemon drizzle cake and more soggy sushi.

sfxmum · 18/09/2010 16:01

hello all

dh out with dd silence here although feeling as I should be out protesting or something

anyway

sushi/lordcopper good luck for next week school starts

we have tried all the after school stuff and dd likes all of them which makes me feel relieved/pleased

Hello!

Did nothing in the morning.

Did lots of gardening after lunch, mainly pulling out dead plants and pruning things. DSs refuse to chuck the branches though. Building bridges, they said. Hmm

Now DH has taken DC out and I'm cooking roast dinner for visiting cousin and her DH.

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/09/2010 16:19

sfx - who are you thinking about protesting against? His holiness?

sfxmum · 18/09/2010 16:22

the pope the government I don't really care just feel like a good old protestGrin

tillyfernackerpants · 18/09/2010 17:00

sfx, why not join the peace camp for an afternoon? Grin

sushi & copper, good luck with school starts next week!

Had a lovely morning. We went to the Bunny Park (two words you do not want to type into Google btw Shock), boys not bothered with playground but we did do lots of walking & exploring. When they found they could get down the bank to go next to the river it was like all their christmasses had come at once Grin

Nick Clegg telling lib dems to "enjoy being in power" Shock Shock One's moral stance should never be affected by whether one is in power or not. >

sfxmum · 18/09/2010 17:24

I shall have to reconsider all my politics I feel Labour at heart but not this Labour we have had, at least not for the most part, the Lib Dems had liberals ideas that I am attracted to but the need for power corrupts all it seems
I suppose I should just focus on women&child issues and particular causes, folk not focused on gaining power for the sake of it

tilly river and wildlife always a big draw with us, dd collected a caterpillar today

Hello all

Sushi/Copper - good luck to Ds at new school Smile

Sfx - great that Dd likes her activities, DS1 loves his new footy class

Lovely weekend, parents have been visiting so managed to get loads sorted on the house. Diseased and unwieldy trees cut down, can't believe how much more light is now coming into the house. Also went together to body pump at Dh's gym. Hadn't done it for years and loved it, wish I could go every wk, although I'm sure I won't be able to walk tom could feel muscles aching as I left the gym Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/09/2010 20:02

Hello vbus! I'm aching all over just from pruning bushes and pulling out weeds...

Have had to avoid large sections of the saturday papers - the pope and the lib dems take up too much space and they are very upsetting.

vbus · 19/09/2010 20:14

Copper - also had a good gardening work out on Sat too

IKWYM about Pope and Lib Dems monopolising papers this wkend, shall go and watch some tv instead

vbus · 19/09/2010 20:17

BTW was thinking of getting DS1 his 1st bike for his b'day, what bikes did you lot buy? Just so I can get some ideas, I'm clueless about it...Confused

sfxmum · 19/09/2010 20:21

vbus will ask dh but dd got something pink and sparkly with a dolly seat and I think a dolly called Molly, a neighbour gave her a bigger bike which she can't yet use
I think he went to an independent bike shop
bike found it

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/09/2010 20:28

boycotted papers this weekend, however I did find this in the Guardian online posted on FB because I loved it so much when I saw it

I did watch the leader interview in the politics show this morning I just can't help it

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 19/09/2010 21:09

Not sure if I boycotted the papers this weekend or if I just didn't bother as I don't usually get chance to read them Grin

vbus, we got ds1 bike. Its ok but a bit heavy to carry so isn't one we can take with us if there's only me or dh iyswim. Halfords were very helpful though!

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/09/2010 21:40

Am still reading fishy book Moby Dick. Funny how it is argued that whales are fish. Did have to skim through pages of whale taxonomy...

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/09/2010 21:41

On bikes - DS1 has quite a heavy one with stabilisers. Stabilisers off now but he's not riding yet.

Must go to bed now before getting even more entangled in thread about helicopter parenting. Grin

odetothewestwing · 20/09/2010 07:27

vbus, for dd I just had a small pink bike - tenner from a charity shop - to learn on, with some stabilisers - we just had to take it to a bike shop to make sure the brakes were ok etc. And now we have just splashed out on quite a big bike without stabilisers which she loves and is out on every day, it should last several years. I like the smaller, independent bike shops for customer service etc. Moore Bros in Twick or Isleworth was always very good for us.

Had a lovely day in London yesterday with friends and family. Raining heavily here at the mo. Trialling music classes for both dcs today so at least we are keeping busy.

Next time we are in the big schmoke would love to try and catch some of you at the gardens if you are around, had a packed agenda yesterday, phew!

Kewcumber · 20/09/2010 11:44

we've got the bike with the fireman on form halfords (second hand)

I think steppie is back... oooh v excited to hear how it went [no life emoticon]

I am exhausted by this school business, back and forth and back and forth.... a girl has no time to surf t'interweb.

sfxmum · 20/09/2010 12:09

speaking of steppie being back

steppie did I see you this morning wearing orange Tee and flash glasses?

hello all back to week routine, slightly feeling the doom of darkness closing in, it is always like this until Christmas, must keep busy

does anyone fancy a meet up before half term?
be nice to see everyone

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 20/09/2010 12:34

sfx, yes to meet up!

kew, is ds full or half days? How's he settling in?

Must admit, I'm enjoying things atm. Ds1 enjoying school, have time to play with ds2 as well as getting a bit of time to sit down & MN!

tillyfernackerpants · 20/09/2010 12:39

For arranging meet up, shall we use Doodle? It's great Grin. Just put in the dates & everyone ticks their availability!!

stepfordwife · 20/09/2010 13:16

.....that'll be my secret eveil twin in orange t-shirt and flash glasses then....because i'm still in mumabi!
had planned to come back friday but, due to circumstances, now flying back on wednesday. dh coming back for a week, then he goes back to mumbai for 5/6 weeks (gulp!)

well have been to delhi and went to agra to see the taj mahal. it was so beautiful, it didn't seem real, but a mirage.
we were literally mobbed by people wanting to take picyures of kids, esp dd. our (lovely) guide said many were from villages and had probably never seen a white person before.

at one point about 30 people were crowded aroundf taking it in turn to sit on the wall next to dd to take a picture whil we peered arounf them, trying to watch the sunset over the taj.....Grin

and i won't even get started on being ferried around three glass factories which made the inserts for thermos flasks and meeting three generations of the owners _ becuase dh had thought/presumed it was a glass-blowing murano glass type thing....

.....and te security measures, red tape and fuss it took to get ourselves into the commonwealth games HQ just becuase dh wanted to buy a CWG baseball cap for his brother....

can't believe our adventure nearly over. have seen and learned so much which i don't think we'll fully appreciate until we're back at home reflecting...

hope everyone well and dcs enjoying school
