I told dh today that I feel I might have to vote for Boris next time - he is ok he is a cyclist, says he - I suspect he voted for Dave now

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 11/09/2010 17:13

sfx, lol @ dh hidden Tory tendencies Grin

dustythedolphin · 11/09/2010 22:02

lol SFX

Kew - perhaps he is "not very gay!?? Wink

"Westwind" - a deer? Where was that? I collided with a tractor 2 weeks ago and the tractor won (I was going a wee bit too fast) and I have a humungous dent in my passenger door :( Blush

Steppy - sounds amazing - so glamorous - make the most of your time there and have fun. You will have some amazing memories and so will the DCs. Is Ganesh that Blue Elephant-God fella?

House sale is going well. Mortgage of buyers agreed in principle and survey has been paid for.Our tenants have now given 2 months notice and all the parties in the chain (us>buyers>their cash buyers)are in a hurry do hoping to complete by mid Nov, just after tenants vacate (everything crossed)

Had a meeting with a mortgage broker and he is the most fabulous man - gave me loads of very good advice about all sorts of financial bits and bobs. We will get a mortgage but the banks here like you to have been in a job for a year and I only have nine months in this post, so he has advised us to pay the booking deposit (in irekland you have to pay a deposit to agree a sale - stops buyers pssng about) and then drag our feet, asking lots of detailed questions, so I can clock up a few more weeks service in my new jobby Wink

ps Westwind sounds much nicer than "windy" Wink

dustythedolphin · 11/09/2010 22:05

ps its Ok to p*ss about once you have paid the deposit

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/09/2010 15:19

Hello!

Back from camping. Only rained once on Saturday morning. Shock Had a lovely time.

sfx - many thanks for tent and cooking set. DH and I much impressed with both! Airing tent now and will return when cleaned up (though not too filthy I hope since we were spectacularly lucky with whether and spectacularly unadventurous.)

sfxmum · 12/09/2010 21:08

hello

lordcopper glad you had a good first experience, no rush with tent and you don't have to get it that clean, airing well is good enough thanks

dusty good luck with house good that people seem helpful

we went to Wimbledon Common after swimming they were having some sort of event there dd took a couple of donkey rides and climbed all over farming equipment they had falcons and the Household Cavalry had representatives there is full gear, shining breast plates and all
there was also a dog show, dd seemed to get over her fear/ reluctance of dogs by just looking in amazement at the sheer variety of breeds around, she met a few with proud/ friendly owners

found another geochse on way out of the common - fun day

OP posts:
sfxmum · 12/09/2010 21:09

geocache that is

Kewcumber · 13/09/2010 00:30

why am I getting involved in the 9/11 conspiracy theory thread? Why oh why?

You might guess I am not a conspiracy theorist (at least not this conspiracy - I 100% beleive that WEightatchers is a Russian plot to make western women fat and thereofre unable to run away when they invade)

tillyfernackerpants · 13/09/2010 06:57

Kew, I was on the verge of putting in my twobits on that thread but decided (probably wisely) to step away in the end!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/09/2010 09:16

I think you may be onto something with that WW theory, though, Kew. Although as per pattern alleged on other thread you will probably now disappear mysteriously in a bizarre blueberry muffin accident.

Have not thought of trying to get DD over dog issue by going somewhere packed to the rafters with dogs, but it makes sense...

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/09/2010 09:30

Good morning!

Just had a quick look at the conspiracy thread. LOL at the idea that Afghanistan is in the Middle East. But I never like this East West nonsense. The globe is round (round-ish anyway) and east is west and west is east. Bet people in the "far east" don't feel very far. Reminds me of Asterix and the Goths from the east who are west of the Goths from the west or something like that.

Best go and make up new lectures to confuse new students.

Kewcumber · 13/09/2010 11:44

Copper - so glad its not me that gets hung up on anywhere "furrin" or where anyone is vaguely beige being lumped into the same category.

Afghanistan is about as middle eastern as WE are Russian.

sfxmum · 13/09/2010 13:59

hello

conspiracy theories? are we back to melting points of steel, speed at which buildings collapse. the evil pentavirate ruling the world and what not?
as a rile I find conspiracy theories sort of reassuring aha so that is the reason why nasty things happen aha Hmm

professot the thing about the dog show was they they were all held securely and closely by their owner who I imagine would not like the Alsatian snacking on the Chihuahua

KewC what was the report?

are new school children settled in now?

OP posts:
ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/09/2010 14:12

Ahhh, some more aspirational reading for you, Kew... Grin.

Love your new photos of your DS, by the way. He looks so grown up!

tillyfernackerpants · 13/09/2010 16:52

sfx, not to mention eyewitnesses being mysteriously bumped off!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/09/2010 17:48

Hello!

Tilly - how is DS1?

Kew - saw pics on FB. DS so grown up! How was the first day? Please post or we'd think you have disappeared mysteriously in a bizarre blueberry muffin accident.

As for dogs, DS1 is a bit braver now, but DS2 is just not happy about them. Though I showed them pictures of the tibetan mastiff, thought to be the world's scariest dogs, and they want a tibetan mastiff puppy. Hmm

sfx - will get my act together and arrange to return camping things soon.

DS2's last week in nursery! He's been there since he was 9 months old. Shock

sfxmum · 13/09/2010 17:50

tilly how is cast wearing young man faring at school?

I am in desperate need of sleep, don't think I have slept more than 5 hrs per night over the last week, and not all of it uninterrupted
not sure why have been careful with caffeine have been active too, if only brain could give it a rest

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/09/2010 17:55

eyewitnesses to what?Grin

the very idea that a number of people can organise a conspiracy and keep it quiet for any length of time, is so beyond any known reality that it does not even register as remotely likely

but some people are really pod people = FACT

OP posts:
ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/09/2010 18:34

I was on a thread earlier this year where several of us turned out to be alien space lizards. Unfortunately it was a thread where the OP was attempting to troll about Asians and grammar schools, so it got deleted and our attempts to organise into a reptilian insurgent faction were put back by several months.

tillyfernackerpants · 13/09/2010 20:28

Professor, is that where the lizard references are coming from? It all makes sense now...

sfx, yes indeed! Good luck with the sleep, ikwym with not being able to switch off.

Ds1 is fine thanks, cast not slowing him down at all, managing perfectly well. He refuses to wear the sling though on account of it being stinky! We're back to the hospital on Weds to get his proper cast, fingers crossed for a blue one!!

In other news, my first client has had her baby Grin. Can't wait to cuddle the newborn!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/09/2010 20:47

Not specifically -- David Icke has/had conspiracy theory about the world being run by the Illuminati who were alien space lizards in disguise (I diagnose watching too much V as a young man). I think Prince Philip was one, for example. And separately both threads have picked that up and riffed on it

sfxmum · 13/09/2010 21:04

speaking of V the new remake was utter rubbish did not even see an alien eat a live rat

when conspiracy theorists start going I just keep thinking of Eco's Foucault's Pendulum
Grin

have the Knights Templar shown up yet? or are they no longer fashionable?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/09/2010 21:05

having said that Tom Cruise is an Alien allegedly

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 14/09/2010 09:59

LOL at Prince Philip being an alien. I think it might be genetic. Which reminds me of my latest life-changing decision: if Waitrose organic stuff is going to be Duchy Original in the future, I shall have to stop buying organic stuff from them - can't be funding space lizards, charity or otherwise. I feel better now having made the decision public. Grin

Went to local hardware shop and was shown by owner an array of paraffin lamps and regaled with tales of night-time fishing. He's the friendliest shopkeeper I've met for ages.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 14/09/2010 10:15

I do wonder about what's happened to all the farmers who used to supply Waitrose's organic stuff. Are they forced to assimilate into the Duchy Originals collective or turn their children out on the street to starve?
