I love WholeFoods, but its v v v v v expensive and every time I got there I seem to spend $80 on 2 lettuces, some cherry tomatoes, a hunk of cheese and some rice cakes. Still its a great diet LOL as I can't sfford to buy food for the rest of the week!!!!

mananny · 11/03/2008 19:03

and good luck ChiTownLady, I haven't been back to the UK for 2yrs and I miss my family. But I would never go back there to live.

jabberwocky · 12/03/2008 18:30

We call Whole Foods the "dollar a bite" store They do have wonderful things in there, though.

So you're back in the UK for good, you think, ChiTown?

UnderRated · 12/03/2008 19:07

Yes, Whole Foods is fab. DS thinks their cheese samples are great. If only I could afford to do my weekly shop there.

mananny · 13/03/2008 01:32

I shouldn't do my weekly shop there but I do tend to get most stuff their as it just tastes better. Bloody ought to for the cost of it!!!

UnderRated · 13/03/2008 01:54

But they don't have red lentils

mananny · 13/03/2008 02:11

I've never looked for red lentils, I usually hang round the cooked foods and Whole Body!!!!

Am talking online to a v nice guy who I met through match.com, he wants to go grocery shopping there with me then cook dinner together. Am too scared to say yes even tho I would love to! Aaasggghhh damn my neuroses!!!!!

UnderRated · 13/03/2008 02:37

Ooo, that sounds like a good date

The cooked food bit is the best although DS really doesn't understand why you can't just help yourself.

Hmmm, match.com...

mananny · 13/03/2008 02:50

My theory was that on match.com everything is traceable so hopefully not that many psychos would bother with it! So far I've talked to 3 or 4 guys all of whom seem nice and genuine. Wholefoods guy is my número uno so far. Its nice cos I can control the pace and there's no alcohol involved. Fingers crossed I just need to find the courage to take him up on his offer!!!

UnderRated · 13/03/2008 03:00

Sounds promising. You sound very wise.

jabberwocky · 13/03/2008 17:37

So have you met him IRL and done the safe drinks bit, mananny?

mananny · 13/03/2008 19:35

Not yet jabberwocky, we have been emailing twice or thrice daily for about 3 weeks, exchanged phone numbers today in fact. So we will chat on the phone for a bit before meeting IRL. Will most definitely make our first meeting a daytime one, brunch perhaps after Easter. That gives us both a while to grow cahoonas get to know more about each other. I had a couple of bad experiences last year so am ultra cautious now. But at the same time I don't want to end up being the hairy old lady living in a log cabin with 35 cats. So I have to put myself out there a bit. So far match.com has been a lot of fun. Everyone seems genuinely looking for a relationship not just sex. Fingers crossed! I'll be talking to the guy after work tonight, am sooooooooooo nervous already, excited too

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 00:17

So, how was the phonecall mananny? I hate speaking to new people on the phone - I get stupidly shy

mananny · 14/03/2008 00:23

He's working late, am both gutted and relieved!!! He'll call when he's done. So am having a beer to calm my frazzled nerves

mananny · 14/03/2008 00:25

And I am ridiculously shy on the phone too. No idea what to say. What do I say?!!!!!!

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 00:36

No idea. My mind goes blank. Someone gave me their number weeks ago and I just disappeared on him because I was too shy to call. Beer might help.

Can you discuss your weekend? Um, the weather (I am soo British). Work? School? No idea. Sorry.

alipiggie · 14/03/2008 00:39

mananny just pretend you've know him in rl for ages and it'll help. ChiTownLady - good luck we'll miss you. Safe journey back to Blighty.

UR hope all goes well with you. CF let me know if you need your malteser supply topping up .

All goes well in Boulder, CO if not a very very very busy week, workwise. Found myself a male friend and I mean just a friend, UR knows who I mean. At least he's fun to talk to and boosts me up when I'm down. We may even go to a party together so see if we can meet someone special for each of us. So mananny I can totally understand what you're going through.

Have a great weekend one and all just in case I don't get back on here for a while.

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 00:45

Aliiiiii Hope you are ok. Parties, eh? Lucky you!

I have malteasers in the fridge but am trying not to think about them

mananny · 14/03/2008 01:15

OMG maltesers ......

alipiggie · 14/03/2008 01:23

mananny do you want some? Where are you? If you've got a World Market near you they sell the big bags

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 01:26

I could donate mine if you are in need, Mananny. I will only eat mine and I really don't want to. Much better to share.

mananny · 14/03/2008 01:30

Thats really kind both of you but our local stop n shop sells them for half a kidney a bag, I am too tight to buy them except when I am desperately in need LOL. I miss being able to pop down to the corner shop and pay less than 50p a bag. Here they are $3 or so just for the regular sized bag of maybe 15 maltesers!!! Extortionate.

UnderRated · 14/03/2008 01:38

Extorion indeed. My fab neighbourhood produce store has started selling Cadbury's at about $2 a bar. And things like Crunchies. I have had to instate an Ethical Chocolate Only policy to stop me from buying it.

mananny · 14/03/2008 01:47

I love it. Ethical Chocolate Only policy!!! I have a no chocolate Monday to Friday policy.

alipiggie · 14/03/2008 02:46

Man inbetween being savaged by a manic cat and snuggled on by ds1, my local Brit Shop is not that expensive, sells Cadbury choccie finger biscuits, curlywurlys, buttons, bovril and marmite. Any takers ???
