I have a blender
New sofabed being delived today, thus giving me

1 double sofabed
1 double futon
bottom bunk of DS's bunk bed!
1 big comfy couch

Would seriously love a meet-up here. You could consider it a mini-pampering break for hardworking mums. Cocktails by the pool, sunshine, girlie chat, the best beaches in the world 15 mins in every direction, wonderful food, designer shopping in one of the most charming capitals in the world 10 mins away...

anorak · 11/03/2008 14:23

and you can cheer up the lonely bored cancer patient at the same time

jabberwocky · 11/03/2008 16:12

Okay, that's it then. After the move I will start to seriously work on dh.

If I mention it beforehand things it won't be pretty

jabberwocky · 11/03/2008 16:13

dooney, I used to teach bellydance so could chat about that and dh is an artist so have been involved in the arty world for a bit. Oh, and I love to grind my own incense, lol.

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 17:30

[excited]

Jabber - you grind your own incense? Really? Tell me more.

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 17:35

I always wanted to do belly dancing. And I have a belly these days so should put it to some use.

jabberwocky · 11/03/2008 17:57

Yep, I have a mortar and pestle and lots of different herbs and spices. Ds1 loves to help. You just sprinkle it over a bit of special charcoal. It doesn't take long for the whole house to get scented. You do have to remember to put sand under the charcoal or the dish gets way too hot (found that out the hard way, )

I loved belly dancing. I'm hoping to start back once we move. I danced until I was 30 weeks pg with ds1 and started back up fairly soon. But with ds2 things just got too hectic so it's been a while. It's so good for you though. Great exercise and good for the spirit. I used to tell my class that I'm not really teaching you how to do this, I'm just helping you remind your body of natural ways to move

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:07

Incense sounds interesting. I may have to research further.

I am sure Belly dancing is very good for you, a bit like yoga. I just don't think my body moves the right way.

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:08

Poo. In nice Thomas underwear. But not in the bed.

mananny · 11/03/2008 18:28

UR my last nanny family used to buy their lil girl new pants from Petit Bateau (tres expensif LOL) and she used to poo in them every now and then and pee too, and I would be expected to just throw them away and buy new as needed. Well with the twins I went to Sears and bought Thomas multipacks for lil fella and Elmo panties for lil lass and will be washing them not chucking them out (unless its a nasty poop). I don't see the point of expensive undies while potty training?

God knows what we'll do about their bedding though, when it comes time to do night training.

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:33

at expensive underwear. We've got cheapo ones from Target and it's just as well. I wasn't really sure what to do with the pants - I debated throwing them out but threw them in a bucket of water. Am still wondering how best to deal with them. What is acceptable protocol?

I am not even considering anything other than pull-ups at night. Too much hard work!

mananny · 11/03/2008 18:37

I think if the poop is solid and falls off the pants and its just staining then a decent wash should sort it out. Our washing machine has a sanatize wash so we'll use that to wash all the undies and clothes. But if the poop is sticky and hard to get off then just chuck them it's not worth the grossness!

We have pull ups but to be honest I don't find them helpful in daytime training as the littlies just pee/poop as they would in a nappy. At night they would be fine though.

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:40

That was what I was thinking too.

Lovely conversation (but very helpful nonetheless)!

It's amazing the conversations I have these days LOL.

I even find myself telling my flatmates that "I need peepee potty" as I head for the bathroom. They of course are delighted I feel comfortable enough to share but seriously ... I need some adult conversation!!!!

mananny · 11/03/2008 18:48

Widgie holes hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

ChiTownLady · 11/03/2008 18:49

Hey all just thought I would drop a quick note as we are now leaving Chicago - know I am a desperate lurker and rarely contribute so a bit rich of me to start my goodbyes - but we head back to blighty for good on Friday so feeling a little blue at leaving this wonderful city.

Although feel i can put my hand on my heart and say that I have experienced a 'proper' chicago winter.

Goodluck UR with everything and adieu to cheap Gap, Aurora mall and the love of my life Target!

Will have to think of new nickname!

I love Target, in fact the only reason I'll be learning to drive in the Spring is so I can run errands for my boss and that means Target, WholeFoods and Babies R Us!!!!!!!!!!

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:54

lol @ widgie hole. I really don't understand why they put them in toddler underwear - it's hard enough for DS to find his 'widgie' and point it in the toilet in time, let alone poke it through a hole.

I too have found myself saying, "Oooo, weewee on the potty" as I dash accross the room.

Oh, ChiTownLady but I wish you all the best with your move. This was indeed a proper Chicago winter. I bet you won't miss it! We can always send you a little treat from Target every now and then, you'll just have to let us know where to send it.

Aurora... tempting...

ChiTownLady · 11/03/2008 18:54

Will be hard but I believe there is a 12 step plan I can take.

The packers are here and I said I had to go out to do VERY IMPORTANT CHORES and i quickly went to Gap and bought up most of their Spring collection

No entirely sure where however I am going to a) hide it from husband so as to give impression I have had it for ages and
b) pack it in one of the 9 bulging suitcases we will be attempting to check in!

ChiTownLady · 11/03/2008 18:56

i'll let you know my equally creative and inspiring nickname when I come up with it!

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:56

They just built a Whole Foods next to our Target - DS often asks to go - it is his special treat

UnderRated · 11/03/2008 18:57

ChiTown - please pop back on here and let us know how you are doing
