Seriously, though, what do sweet potatoes have against me. 2 of the 4 messes were sweet potatoes, and they probably make up 80% of the volume of the messes.

Happy St. David's Day, Calinamechanger. I have no idea what it is about. Am off to educate myself about it. It can be my culture for the day, unless you want to count Wonder Pets and Yo Gabba Gabba as culture.

Yes, do tell us about the sweet potato explosion.

jabberwocky · 01/03/2008 14:51

btw, wish me luck, I'm headed out today to our new house getting ready to camp out Sunday night in front of the school I want ds1 to go to. They are predicting thunderstorms...

dooneygirl · 01/03/2008 15:23

1st sweet potato incident: little drops of liquid leaked out of the sweet potato and dripped down to the bottom of the oven. They all seemed to congregate around one end of the sweet potato.

2nd incident: 2 sick children rushing through the store. In haste, grab a sweet potato with a big gash in it. Anally retentive me usually puts foil under potatoes and such so they don't leak. Too tired, don't even think about it. Big gash deposits the contents of 1/2 the sweet potato at the bottom of my oven. (Maybe 1/2 is a bit of an exaggeration.)

Other non sweet potato incident: DH is lovely and makes dinner. Makes a casserole and sticks it in a pan that, on hindsight, even he admits was too small. Casserole dish filled to the top, when it bubbles. . . you get the picture.

Hope your camping out was fruitful, Jabber.

Loooonnnnnggg day today. Caitlin had a rash last night and woke up with it almost gone, so I went grocery shopping because I haven't got to do a big shop. I get home, and they're all dressed and ready to go to the ER, because it was all over her body. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything for it, other than Benadryl. It is a viral thing, and the Dr. said it will probably last for a month, and most probably will cover her body entirely in a few days, and could possibly spread to her mouth and insides, but that would be rare.

She's got red ears, but not an ear infection, and everything he said to do for her cough, we've been doing, so we just have to ride it out, I guess. Her cough is not quite as frequent, but still very violent. She is chasing her brother around the room, though, so at least she seems perkier if nothing else.

alipiggie · 03/03/2008 01:18

dooneygirl what a time. Sweet potatoes and all. Jabberwocky, I heard yesterday that ds2 has got into the school i wanted him to. So positive vibes coming your way. We had 73 degrees yesterday, shorts and tess. Today 32 degrees and 4" snow. Lol the joy of living in Colorado. Hope you all have a great start to the week.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 04/03/2008 23:52

We are sick AGAIN and I can't believe the timing . ds1's best buddy at playschool invited him (us, incl ds2) over for a playdate a couple of months ago but we had to cancel due to illness. I was stupidly nervous about asking them here instead as the ds is allergic to most foods that you can be allergic to and the playdate was/ is only convenient for them if it is at lunchtime and just after, so I left it. They re-invited us last Friday for this Thursday. On Saturday ds2 woke with a temperature and snotty nose which soon progressed to include a cough. I then woke with a sore throat and snotty nose on Sunday. ds1 has just woken up from his nap with a snotty nose and cough. I am going to have to cancel again. Neither time have I told ds1 that he was going to his friend's as he doesn't sleep due to excitement, unfortunately his friend's mother tells him

GreatGooglyMoogly · 04/03/2008 23:54

How was your Gymanfa Ganu Cali?

dooneygirl · 05/03/2008 02:44

Sorry to hear we're not the only repeat sick offenders around, GGM. Hope yours gets better.

Big day today. Caitlin got her first haircut. Kinda sad, because Colin's first was at 10 months, not 2 1/2 years. She looks more like a little boy now, since her hair is so much shorter. It didn't look very good how it was, though, because it was so fine and wispy she looked like the guy with the white hair on the Back to the Future movies. She was all broken out in her rash, but fortunately the person who cuts my hair has a daughter who had something like it, and knows it isn't contagious.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 05/03/2008 03:28

can i come here and moan that I cannot get back to sleep? I also should go to work in the morning. grrr. sorely tempted not to as I am pg and still at the yucky stage and I have been having trouble staying asleep for the past 3 nights.

gawd I hate to whinge.

Camp-out was successful!!! He is definitely IN!! The secretary said she has never before told a parent that the child was accepted on application day but since I had broken the record for the longest wait she would tell me It was totally insane, I was out there for 15 hours and it did rain a bit. But I had my best friend with me and three other friends came by at various times to bring coffee, tea or just moral support so that I could take a power nap. I am still blown away by their amazing display of friendship and cannot wait to move back home and see them more often.

i got back in on Monday night but am still kind of wired about everything we have to do before the move and sleeping still a bit messed up so I've been up since about 3:00 am

Hope all the sick kids get well soon. The rash sounds really icky, dooney.

The banner is really nice, cali. It is too bad you have to rework it, but I'm sure it will be fine.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 07/03/2008 15:06

Love the banner Cali It looks like you might have room for two more baseballs on either side at the top?

Sorry to hear that so many of us have ill children. Roll on spring!

dooneygirl · 07/03/2008 15:17

Congratulations, Jabber. Glad that your camping skills paid off.

Can't you just wait a few days, Cali, and then take the boy off that you think the dad is going to pull him off the team, and then you only have to find 1 place for the new boys?

Caitlin has been with only 1 patch of rash 3 days ago, and then the past 2 days and this morning rash-free. Everything I read said to expect it much longer, so I'm trying not to get excited that it is gone. My friend felt sorry for her being so sick for so long, and bought her a Cinderella dress up set, because she loves to dress up. So she was all dressed up yesterday saying she was pretty in her new dress with no "pots".(She can't say s yet)

UnderRated · 08/03/2008 02:45

Great news, Jabber. What lovely friends you have. I'm glad that the camping out was worthwhile.

Hope Caitlin's rash has gone for good now. I thought of you today, Dooneygirl, when I baked my sweet potato wedges.

Lovely banner, Califrau.

How is everyone?

Where's Anorak?

WHY DID NO-ONE TELL ME THE CLOCKS WERE CHANGING TONIGHT?

Thank you Califrau (who let it slip on another thread)

UnderRated · 09/03/2008 04:42

Concert sounds fab btw Califrau. Not sure how you sort out scheduling conflict.

I think Anorak is ok. Hopefully she'll pop on here soon to tell us herself.

dooneygirl · 09/03/2008 04:48

Cali, you're obviously being unrealistic with the teleportation thing. You should look into cloning yourself, instead.
