Poor you donneygirl, i've got an ear infection at the moment too - not nice are they. At least Colin is on the mend now tho.
We are coming to Seattle actually, is it as great as I have been lead to believe?

jabberwocky · 05/02/2008 17:50

So many ear infections! Ds2 just recovered from one and there are two on my post-natal thread with them.

Glad you at least have good drugs on board, dooney

dooneygirl · 05/02/2008 22:16

I love Seattle. DH lived there for a year, and hates it with a passion. Lots of fun things to do on the waterfront, I think. I really like the ferry trips through all the islands up there. Beautiful scenery and very relaxing, IMO. So much more multi-cultural and exciting than Portland, too.

I thought I would be okay last night, but man, that cough syrup slammed me. It took a few hours, but I was sitting here, and all of a sudden I told DH I had to go to bed, and was just out. DD came in the middle of the night and started singing to me, and DH had to deal with that, because I couldn't do more than just grunt at her.

jabberwocky · 06/02/2008 02:48

I've been to Seattle once and really liked it. Why does your dh not?

So, dooney, are you a bit of a lightweight then?

dooneygirl · 06/02/2008 02:54

He is a hick from the sticks, and hates anything that involves lots of people and bad traffic jams.

No, I'm not a bit of a lightweight, I'm a complete lightweight. Even at drinking, I'm afraid.

dooneygirl · 06/02/2008 03:12

I guess I'm an even bigger lightweight than I thought. DH just told me that I sat straight up in bed last night around midnight. He said he asked me what the matter was, and I told him I heard giraffes and elephants. He told me if I thought I heard them to think about it, and I'd realize that they weren't real. He said I told him ok, and then laid back down and started snoring right away. I don't remember any of this, and I can tell he's not making it up.

jabberwocky · 06/02/2008 16:05

Lol, dooney, can't imagine what you would have been like in the '60's

jabberwocky · 06/02/2008 16:06

What a week and its only Wednesday!
My dh decided to invite some of the guys from work round to watch the game on Sunday - fair enough. He also told them all to bring their kids and partners because he thought it would be nice for me . I dont think he appreciates the stress of having a house full of guests, esp stangers. Also I was still the only person who didnt have a clue what was going on. Apparently it was hilarious that I commented on the fact that one teams hats matched the other teams leggings. I had planned to go to be with the Peter Kay autobiography (v.g. by the way) instead I was fetching drinks all night and mediating battles between tired children. Im still tidying up the basement!
After all that I somehow got conned into taking dd and a friend to see the Hannah Montana 3d film on Monday. In terms of kids tv, there is a lot worse than HM but that doesnt mean I want to pay $15 each for tickets
I feel like money is just flying out of our account in every direction at the moment. Dds dancing class are looking for money for costume hire for the summer show already. They want $65 per costume and dd needs 4! I am so angry that they expect $260 to hire costumes - I want to own something for that!! The we will all have to buy tickets, programmes, photos... Shes 7 ffs! Am I being mean?

jabberwocky · 07/02/2008 01:09

Wow! Things have sure changed since I took dancing lessons. I think we had 3 and we bought them all. I'm sure they were not terribly expensive. In fact, I think the mothers made at least one costume.

Have just started a load of wash with crossed fingers. Two of ds2's best pants got in with a load that had a tube of lipstick in it I remember taking it away from ds2 and putting it in my pocket and the rest is laundry history

dooneygirl · 07/02/2008 01:20

Now I have to stay away from the cough syrup. Caitlin spiked a 104 fever on me at 3 am this morning. Sigh. Will this ever end, or will we pass it back and forth amongst ourselves? Took both of them to the Dr. Colin's eyes were bugging him, and we got drops for them, and Caitlin just has a bad viral thing I can't do much about.

I doubt that the sunshine would be able to fight off the absolutely pouring rain and winds right now. Maybe you could wish me a good night's sleep instead? DH is lovely and helping, but I'm a lousy sleeper, and can't sleep without worrying about them, even though he is perfectly capable of looking after the kids.

I chose the easy way this year and put Colin in a preschool with no parent help involved. Last year another mother and I had to do almost everything while the other 12 mothers dragged their feet. Too annoying for me.

We've decided for sure to hold Colin back another year. He's smart enough, but like DH said, you can tell every other kid in the class is almost a year older than he is because he's so quiet and has a much shorter attention span than the rest.

Hey Overrated, you around tonight?

Oh No- nanny resigned . I'm sorry SB. Well ds2 didn't get into ds1's school on Open Enroll - totally gutted and stressed out here too as can't afford, two schools, two schedules, one divorce, one move. But at least I've not got a psychotic boss.

Thinking of you. HUGS.

SB, I don't usually give out cyber hugs but here's a big one for you {{{{{{}}}}} I don't see how you are holding it together Rant as much as you want.

SB - just to maybe brighten your day slightly, a friend of mine from here and myself fancy organizing a girl's trip to SF soon. Want to meet up and have some quality time having fun? I instantly thought that you could do with the boost too, just like me. Being a working Mum sucks I know, it's horrible. A good friend of mine who I "met" on here, told me that our children will really appreciate us for what we do although right now we might not think so. {{{{{HUGS}}}}. We'll get through this. And if all else fails just book at ticket to CO for the weekend and run away here for a few hours - you'll always be welcome.

Off to do the 100 days project for my ds1.

Take care everyone. CF, I'm writing to the District about my boys and myself. Watch this space.
