Hi all. Used to be a regular on MN when I lived in London but since moving back to NZ have found it harder to make the connections due to all the brits being asleep when us down under are online! So if anyone is keen to start a thread for those of us in this predicament please reply! My DD has just turned 5 and started school last week (scary). Have just found out I'm expecting number 2 - due roughly Xmas day...

He is fine, they kept an eye on him, stripped him down, gave him his antihistamine, kept calm - did everything right - but they rang my mobile 4 bloody times, and I didn't manage to even notice.

They rang dh as well, and all he did was ring me - which of course I didn't notice either.

ghosty · 02/05/2007 04:12

Poor him .... I would open the wine asap if I were in your shoes

eidsvold · 02/05/2007 04:14

what is the weather like in Melb today ghosty?

dh is staying in the city somewhere - overlooking treasury gardens. told him as he was close to Collins street he could buy me a thing or two!!

eidsvold · 02/05/2007 04:17

made dh go and buy a light jacket to take to Melbourne telling him it could get very cool there compared to our lovely weather at the moment.

Boobsgonesouth · 02/05/2007 05:40

sorry to Hi Jack thread ladies, hope you don't mind...Wonder if any of you are looking for part time work to fit around the family.

Terms and conditions of business mean that I am unable to discuss on line (strange policy, but one I would be happy to go into more detail on)

However if you think you moight be interested in an established UK business that has recently launched on Aus/New Zealand and in the US next year then send me an email and I'll send you more info (pdf format).

Will also post under classified ads.

email address is

sandy underscore b at madasafish dot com

lol

ghosty · 02/05/2007 08:14

Norty hijack Boobsgonesouth ... please go to the paid ads section

I am already work from home around my family so no need for me ta x

Eidsvold - pretty cold today ... long sleeves, jeans and boots for me today ... not a coat though. Coldish and windy. Probly colder than NZ would be at this time.

Your DH will most certainly feel it ... I do.

buzzybee · 02/05/2007 09:09

Hi 20p!! Sorry had forgotten your nickname...
I'm coming over to Melbourne tomorrow for a girls weekend with my friend Kylien (like name suggests, she's an aussie by birth!) Looking forward to a spot of shopping - pity about the wine!! Haven't told her yet but will do so otherwise she'll wonder why I'm not drinking and only looking at size 16 clothes...
This baby is a big shock for me, although I'm very excited, as its father is someone I've only known 8 weeks (and I'm 6 weeks gone). I feel like a very stupid [37 yo] teenager who should have taken better precautions...haven't told him yet even as I need to get my head around whether there's a future for us yet. At least I'm absolutely positive I want to keep the baby so there's no dilemma there. Have told 4 girlfriends so far and they've all been incredibly supportive - don't you love them, awesome!

OP posts:
buzzybee · 02/05/2007 09:10

oops that should have been Kylie

OP posts:
ghosty · 02/05/2007 11:44

but for you buzzybee ...
It must have been a bit of a shock! Are you 'seeing' the dad then? I think you have a fab attitude, that you are having the baby no matter what etc - you need lots of support (great you've got such great friends)
If you are at a loose end in Melbourne (ha ha - with all those shops and restaurants!) and fancy meeting up then do get in touch! (if you get this post before you fly that is) Email me on ghostyandmeg(at)bigpond(dot)com and I'll send you my number.
Has your friend Kylie got children? [hopeful emoticon] and [desperate for friends emoticon]

sibble · 02/05/2007 19:04

Hi boobsgonesouth, I too work from home, it's pretty common here so if you would like to know about another work from home business that operates in the UK you can contact me ghosty don't tell me off she started it karenhcarter at hotmail dot com

ghosty when you come back next week bring your gumboots it's rainy season again but at least it's not cold

twentypence · 02/05/2007 20:14

Can I plug my work from home business too ?

ghosty · 02/05/2007 22:38
Grin
eidsvold · 03/05/2007 03:40

yup - dh glad i convinced him to get a coat - he must be acclimatised now poor wee thing

no shopping - when he rang last night said he and mate had been to chinatown for dinner and wandered through the theatre area and then they were off for a pint or two ...grrrrrrrrr told him to go shopping. ah well.

would love to take the dds to Melbourne. My aunt and grandmother live in Melbourne. Aunt is out at the foot of the dandenongs and my grandma used to live in West Preston - she is a rampant COllingwood supporter!!

ghosty · 03/05/2007 03:45

Thunder and lightning this morning - huge cold rainstorm! "Come to Australia," says DH, "It hardly ever rains!"
I went and bought a clothes airer today - ours is on the container as is the dryer ... can't dry anything ...
Today, I am mostly wearing: jeans, boots, longsleeved top AND fleece ....

Hope your DH has wrapped up eidsvold

Bring your DDs to Melbourne ... [not desperate at all for new friends]

suzywong · 03/05/2007 04:35

he's lying , ghosty, it's been pissing down all week

well, tbph, Perth is not really Australia and it's only been a couuple of showers

ghosty · 03/05/2007 05:14

LOL at Perth not being Australia ... [snigger]

ghosty · 03/05/2007 05:15

DH is making noises about a possible holiday to Perth in the next 12 months ... one of his best friends just moved there with wife and PFB ...
I trust you will be up for a glass of wine or 3 if I make it all that way?

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 05:45

should move to QLD - can't remember the last time we had rain - came over all dark and green and horrible the other evening and we got about 4 minutes of rain if that - not worth putting the car in the garage for!

he did say ghosty it looked like rain today - had a lightning flash as he was talking to us this morning. He is home tonight.

Suzy my dh would love to go and visit Perth.

suzywong · 03/05/2007 07:06

oh Good Lord YES!

actually there is a mini MN meetup tomorrow

Eids, send your dh over and I'll make him trifle and toad in the hole, I have found a pretty authentic sausage supplier, even if he is German.

The sausage supplier, not your dh, obviously

ghosty · 03/05/2007 07:47

Just spat my tea out over my new laptop ...
Suzy - you crack me up

Does said german sausage supplier (phnar) ship to Melbourne? - I am yet to meet a decent sausage, either in NZ or Aus ...

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 07:54

he is not going away anymore without the rest of us!!

ghosty just reading about your sticky label problem - get yourself some eucalytus oil or even nail polish remover - works on sticky labels.

our local coles does nice snaggers - although I imagine a german would be a bit of a good sausage

ghosty · 03/05/2007 07:59

What sticky label problem? I haven't got a sticky label problem [paranoid]
Maybe another mner with a ghosty like name?

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 08:02

on your casserole dish?!?!

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 08:03

here

ghosty · 03/05/2007 08:18

LOLOL ... I forgot about that ... that was a while ago - I was having a 'Mrs Angry in Angry Town' moment -
Rereading that it makes me seem like a right grumpy cow ...
The casserole dish (a Le Creuset darling) is in the container sitting in storage in Auckland right now. When I get it back I shall get my nailpolish remover out and and sort it ...
