Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

Had never heard of BJ the bear before, local entertainer. The shopping was for dh. We are off out for dinner tonight. dd has gone with her cousin for a sleep over. Lovely day here today after a weird day yesterday of sun, downpours, wind, sun etc. Your back sounds bad, might take awhile to heal huh.

kjaysmum · 04/10/2007 08:03

We had the same crazy weather here yesterday, the wind was so bad it blew a part of our fence down and at one point it lifted Ds's play house up off the ground! Ds was highly amused when I pointed out that the wind was playing with his football, so amused we had to go out and join in for a while, ouch! I have sussed out that I can be on the computer a wee bit longer if I knew at it. Chiropractor took xrays and I have to go back tomorrow for a report, sounds like I have a twisted pelvis (no surprises there my yoga teacher already picked up on this) but I may have done something inside my abdomen, muscles or ligaments I think, find out tomorrow.
I just re-read your post sibble, you really are unbelievable, 10k run indeed, wow. New windows and flooring sounds like major upheaval to me, good luck with it all.
What was the outcome of your roofing problems in the end Paps?

kjaysmum · 08/10/2007 20:58

it's awfully quiet on here since I went away. Everything ok up there Papillon.
Have been following your other thread sibble, in hope I can come up with a miracle answer for you but I'm sorry it's just not forthcoming, I guess there isn't really one...
We had a tough week in our house last week, what with me putting my back out and Dp getting flue ahhh it's rough when you both go down isn't it. Hopefully things will pick up this week.
We went to look at a property on Sunday, we are now looking for a place with a house on for us and a cottage for the BIL and land to build a shed for the business. The place on sunday was fantastic but I think the tenure is due in too soon for us, as there's lots to investigate for building the business, Dp is going to try though, ah it's all exciting stuff.

Papillon · 10/10/2007 22:18

Hey
Have not seen Sibbles thread, hope everything is okay?

Had my email restricted so not online till next week.

Buying a house is exciting, and cool to hear that it incorporates the business !! Good luck. Hope your back is better and the flu is gone. It is wet your way I hear. Been drier here but abit overcast and had rain overnight. Been windy.

Off to Tauranga for the weekend. Got to start getting dd 4th birthday organised soon, its at the end of the month. Also friends from Wellington rung, they want me to come visit. All this travel! I need to get a new car. So maybe I come by your way soon.

kjaysmum · 10/10/2007 23:37

That would be fantastic, we could do with a guest in the house and I know Ds is always keen to see your Dd, she'll be four soon then, very grown up eh .
Back is much better that it was with the Chiropractic care, I just have to be very, very careful how I move as it keeps going back again but with time that should change.
I went to my first class last night, very inspiring I must say, I can't believe I'm studying again the old brain feels very rusty but hopefully as the cogs start to turn again my memory will get stronger it's pretty bad right now!
Sibble how are you? have you come to any decisions yet? feel free to chat here if you wish about your overseas trip dilemma.

Papillon · 15/10/2007 20:44

Hey am back home and back online, ihugs online system does not work very well. dd is off kindy today, has had an ear infection, am administering homeopathic sinus remedies and vit C, garlic and echinacea. ds is sick too had a very restless night and he was not pleasant to sleep with.

We would come down in afew weeks, Labour weekend so dh comes down. He is going to come back and live here it looks like, he did have a designer job partime as well as landscaping work in Tauranga so bit of a bummer. We have this house though and I am not into moving totally as have meet lots of people here already so it looks very good and what with summer coming up... lots of winery events and outdoor gigs.

hope your back still on the up and up. dd birthday is on 29th. Think she will have two parties one in Tauranga and one with her cousin who is 2 weeks younger.

sibble · 16/10/2007 04:50

hi girls, thanks for your concern kjm (and Paps) I have decided I need to go home and the only way to do it is with boys in tow so am looking at last 2 weeks May and first week June. Have alerted a few friends who are very enthusiastic and have booked some time off so am feeling loved again . I have to just accpet that my family are weird and that's probably got alot to do with why I live here. Anyway, I also have a very good/old friend and her partner arriving on Nov 5th so am doubly excited. They are here for 12 days and providing she feels OK (she's got ME so is worried how she will cope with long haul) we have heaps planned. She's going home through Dubai and is trying to twist my arm to stop for 4 days there with the boys on the way home next year so she can join us for a long weekend. Would love it, but a. very expensive I think and b. she doesn't have children and as much as I love mine I am mindful that 4 days in Dubai with 2 children in tow is not the experience she is probably visualising i.e. shopping, eating and quaffing too much wine . We are then going to meet dh in Noosa or Mooloolaba on the way back - thank God for plastic I say .

Well today is my birthday and am feeling my age, did the 10k run on Sunday - had to physically lift my legs onto the accelerator and clutch when driving yesterday - no joke - my legs hurt where you didn't know it was possible for legs to hurt. Anyway can tick that off the list of things to do while still can - 69 mins - 1 min faster than I wanted - so very pleased, however have been there and done that will move down list.

Paps will probably be down your neck of the woods again next week, Thurs/Fri. Am trying to organise the boys as dh in new job and time not that flexible. WIll let you know and maybe we can catch up if you are around. kjm, will also be in Wellie soon too. trying to time it after a friend moves over from the UK - her dh has a 2 year secondment. AM very excited about having somebody I know in the same country albeit a flight away.

Well had better go, ds1 has his first touch match tonight. Am really looking forward to it and he is doubly excited too. Hopefully dh is going to cook us a nice meal with some nice red wine tonight. Hurray. At least that's one good thing about brithdays a night off cooking and the dishes.

Catch you and your news again soon.

hello you two, good to see you back

sorry to hear your small ones are poorly Paps, we had an ear infection scare before flying off and homoeopathist prescribed pulsatilla, worked a treat. Sorry but didn't quite get when you're coming down, it read like you would come Labour weekend but that's this weekend so doesn't tie in with coming in a few weeks, can you clarify as we want to make sure we're not elsewhere, Dh just said how good it would be to see you. if I'm not seeing you before your Dd's birthday please send me your address so I can send a wee something.
Sibble, talk of your travels led me to have a funny old dream with you in it the other night. We were together in Singapore at a reggae tribute gig was very odd, no kids, no Dh's, just us sitting at this huge table..with these really funky drink tokens which were like those oil and bubble thingies you get!! You had short black hair and I can remember clearly what you looked like...it will be very interesting to meet you when you come to wellie, hope this doesn't all sound too weird I have always been a lucid dreamer. It's great to hear you sounding more positive about your trip home, you obviously need to go and so I guess you just have to take the tricky bits with the fun bits ( and try and organize it to avoid the tricky at much as possible)
As for me....back's still f@#**d, have been diagnosed with Chrohns(eek)and I miss doing my yoga terribly but....am reading 'the heart of yoga" and working on the more spiritual side of things and getting well into my organic horticultural reading so I'm ok...mostly

sibble · 17/10/2007 00:56

paps, sorry about your daughters' ear infection. I went to the doctors the other week for the first timein about 20 years (except when pregnant) with ear ache. Turned out to be allergy or sinus' but it put pain into a different perspective. Hope she's on teh mend soon.

And kjm my mum has crohns, I know it's not fun especially when you have a flair up. Take care. As for your dream, very wacky - the reggae bit - very me actually and I love Singapore- but I have shoulder length blond hair (in fact it is slightly darker than a few days ago on account of a visit to the hairdresser ). I'm trying to tie in my work visit with my friend arriving, hopefully on a Friday so dh and the boys can fly down mid/late afternoon as bil lives there and we havn't even been to see him since we moved here 5 years ago A weekend trip is definately overdue and we have enough airmiles and fly buy points for the flights and accomodation. Would be great to catch up with you too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sibble

Would be good to see you next week I head out of town on Friday lunchtime, so Thursday would suit me better. You poor thing having to lift your legs in the car!

Children are in bed, they have been clingy today. dd did manage kindy but no place centre for ds who fell asleep on the floor in the sun! Have chopped up a raw onion and hope he breathes better tonight. Glad I have not got it, dh has had 3 days off work this week with it. I must be tough!

Any visits to Wgtn region would be in afew weeks time. Want to time it with a friend who works when he has time off.

kjaysmum · 17/10/2007 09:50

I do hope your family feel better soon Paps, it sounds like a nasty bug. It'll be good to see you and really catch up on what's going on with you folks, it can be so disjointed trying to understand whats what on here.
Sorry I neglected to say happy birthday to you Sibble, Happy Birthday, their you go better late than never. hmmm shoulder length blond eh obviously I didn't manage to inherit my mum's psychic abilities, oh well!
I just got back from college, my course is fantastic, I'm learning all about the history of organics in New Zealand at the moment, very interesting, I have my first assignment to complete this week, I'm having a wee bit of trouble taking notes and listening to the next bit of what the tutor is saying, I guess this will come back with practice? she asks hopefully?

sibble · 17/10/2007 18:13

hi kjm, when I started studying I used to tape the lecture then transcribe the notes at home, a bit long winded but it worked for me, especially if it was something I was particulary interested in anyway.

OP posts:
Papillon · 17/10/2007 19:56

I found reading the text book and spending alot of time on assignments that counted towards assessment and grades was time better devoted than attending lectures You take notes and then get mixed up and the book is there in mostly black and white.

Sorry for being confusing kjm, its been abit of a full on week. dh has had an interview for a design job in Tauranga, which is great as he already works for the company, but he is keen to come back down here, I am not so keen on moving to Tauranga. Its all abit embroiled with two many fingers in this house I am living in and parents opinions about my relationship and the house are all work in progress. Sigh.

I will look into pulsetilla too... dd ear still sore and they are both very gummy with the lovely snot guest.

kjaysmum · 17/10/2007 21:26

oh Paps it does all sound very involved. You like your house by the sea don't you, I remember when you were on your own and you were so chuffed to get your place, things have changed somewhat since then though haven't they?. I hope you can find a solution which makes you all happy. Don't forget to email me your address my Ds would like to send your Dd a card.
Thanks for the studying tips both

Papillon · 17/10/2007 21:54

I do love my little house by the sea, especially now it does not leak, could hardly bear to be inside, but feel more and more at home. It is a nice feeling to bond with a place and be transient. It would be hard to give it up after finally achieving my first home. Things need alot of sorting out with all the egos involved and I have decided I have had enough of being in the middle and am going to call the shots alot more from now on. Dad has had someone draw up plans to renovate that are far too extensive, I would have to move out temporarily and I think they are OTT. Quite happy to potter along with the DIY.

Have abit of trepidation about dh coming back, we have not lived together much this year and our lives shaken up so much.

How is your back today. I gave dh a massage and reiki in the weekend then he spent the next three in bed so not sure about my healing skills

kjaysmum · 19/10/2007 09:58

It does sound like you need to put you foot down with your family, it's you and yours who have to live there in the end. You have such individual style and energy Papillon, I'm sure you'd like to make you own impression on your home. I can relate somewhat with you having your Dh back in your life it does take a while to get back into each others rhythm when you've been apart for a while, don't you think. Best of luck to you on both fronts.
My back is much better than it was but still no where near to fixed, it's very frustrating, I have so much I want to do in the garden, I get so far and then have to wait for Dp to do the heavy work for me. We have the long weekend now so poor old Dp will be out the with the shovel under my directions .

kjaysmum · 22/10/2007 08:49

oh praise ye for the three day weekend, what fun. Have managed to do lots with Dp home, finished my assessment paper, 2.5 hours work my foot took me about 8 hours!! built two raised beds in the garden, well me in the directors chair and Dp doing the digging Got a tad sozzled on white wine with some very lovell

sibble · 22/10/2007 19:17

kjm what a lovely weekend. we have a 4 day w/e here, ds1 has today off in lieu of his agricultural day. We had a pretty lazy weekend on account of dh not being well, but tbh it was long overdue, we were all pretty knackered. Did manage to put a few hours gardening in though and it's starting to come together.

paps have booked tickets will be in Haverlock North Thursday/Friday. Have to take the two nurses out for dinner but would be great to catch up at some stage.

Hallo hallo

Hey Sibble, am around on Thursday, but Friday take off for Tauranga.

Its dd birthday on 29th October she will be 4 So we have a birthday party for her on the Sunday with dh and his family.

We had a 4 day weekend here... Friday was show day so free day for the region. dh was here, we went to the Kairunga gardens to ride the trains... its extra special for labour weekend with trains from all over the country coming... chatted to a train driver who had made many of the trains... including Rusty for his 5 year old grandson ds of course was overjoyed at the day, dd loved it too and wanted to go back the next day They are special trains for kids.

Good to hear you had your dp hard at work with the spade kjm and that yours got some rest Sibble. Just what each needed I guess! Mine hung up some lights and washed lots of dishes!

sibble · 23/10/2007 02:11
