Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

Good to hear you are starting the packing, takes alot longer when kids are involved and you get distracted, well I do!

ds is rather grumpy today, 5.30am wake up the entire house, made him lie with me till 7am though or else its grumpy mummy! I don't mind if you put the photo of your ds and dd on the members profile kjm

kjaysmum · 31/07/2007 11:22

well I would put the photo on but I'm afraid I don't know how to do it and haven't got time to work it out right now, it'll just have to stay between you and I for now

I am a typical Leo, probably over organised if anything with the packing!

Two more sleeps...

Papillon · 01/08/2007 01:21

I am Leo rising Two more sleeps wow!!! Have to dash now, off to pick up dd from kindy. Is your ds excited about going on a trip on the aeroplane??

sibble · 01/08/2007 06:27

one more sleep, wow, it'd be a toss up who was more hyper excited in this house if it was us, me or the boys safe journey. relax, chill, be looked after and return refreshed.

Ds is bouncing of the walls, he is his fathers son, you know what I mean by that Paps! I have just locked my suitcase and sworn I shan't open it again for fear of it being over loaded and so my attempts to travel light will have sorely failed. We're having tea with the inlaws later and they shall drive us out to the airport. I'm not looking forward to me and Ds saying goodbye to Dp but we are on an adventure so we'll be ok. Next time I say hello it'll be from my mums computer on the other side of the world....see ya

sibble · 02/08/2007 20:20

just you and me for a while then paps how's the roof progressing?

things are frantic but quiet here atm. having decided to leave work, they (in their infinite wisdom) sacked the person I work with so now, I have said as a short term gap, and doing 3 jobs . Have clocked up more hours in teh past 2 weeks than all year. Have been doing alot of manifesting, visualising lately - not sure what's gone wrong with the waves but that's not what I had in mind . Back to the drawing board I think

OP posts:
Papillon · 02/08/2007 22:54

I was given a book on IChing last night alot of sticks to sort out, not sure I would have time with the kids, they would end up playing with them! Hope you get the visualisation waves sorted Hope the work situation resolves itself soon and you don't have to be working overtime.

KJM, safe journey and talk to you from the other side X

Sibble the roof still leaks and since that heavy rain I think every roofer in Hawkes Bay is flooded with work. Nobody seems to be rushing to provide us with quotes. Our garage come living area is almost finished and after the heat pump goes in (hopefully next week) then we should be cosy except for the occasional drip.

kjaysmum · 08/08/2007 07:54

Hi ladies, I'm back . Today is my birthday and the sun is shining. WQon't stay long here though, real life calls, just wanted to say hi and let you know we arrived ok, journey was about as smooth as it could have been, Ds a star, slept just at the right times, very lucky with seats, got three in a row on both flights!! Have been very tired as Ds's body clock has been making wake in the night and at silly oclock but he slept all night last night and even gave me a birthday lie in till 7am, he is a total star and I'm a very lucky mummy .

How tedious for you Paps, with your roof, I wish you a speedy move into your new bit of house there's nothing worse than a leaky roof I used to have a house truck that did the same and that was bad enough without kids and at least I could throw a tarp over the top.

How tedious for you too Sibble, doesn't sound like what you need to be working tons of hours, I really hope this is the storm befor the calm, when you finally get to leave this work and get to be with your kids and your own business.

Good luck to you both,

xx

Papillon · 08/08/2007 22:44

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KJM

Glad to hear you had such a great flight! Thanks for posting and letting us know you arrived safe and sound X

Getting another roofing company to come look today, I had seen their truck last week and then again earlier this week, then yesterday saw their guys actually working on a roof... so took this as a sign from the roofing guys to ring them up. And they are hopefully at our house now they said they would come at 9am... so maybe my intuition is paying off

kjaysmum · 10/08/2007 22:29

Have just been off doing some retail therapy with my mum in the summer sales, we did really well, oh Paps wait till you see what I got

Papillon · 11/08/2007 22:44

Feel free to tantalise my mind till I see the product So nice to hear from you, oh the big shops of the northern hemisphere I do love to shop... something me and dh did regularly together before we had kids. Went to Paris for the weekend to shop, stuff the eiffel tower! My clothes from life there are almost precious items now.

Still waiting on the roof, had a good company come the other day and recommended rubber rather than corrugated iron, so we are sold - supposed to be cheaper and black rubber on my roof seems sexy.

dh is sick last 2 days with tummy gripe and ds filled his pants about 6 times yesterday but is much more lively than the adult. dd and I are fine so must be a male malady.

How is your dp, surviving without you and ds?? Have got friends from Wellington coming to visit next week for afew days, the house now has a heat pump, and we demoed the shelves in the kitchen to make the room next to it the dining room... so all open plan and dh carved a hole in the wall so we feel all spacious and much more relaxed in our teeny weeny house. dh and I feel closer - our trials this year has opened us up and relaxed us in new areas our relationship much needed.

sibble · 14/08/2007 20:21

kjm, retail therapy, the best and with your mum too, I am truly envious I am at the moment window shopping for new sofas, flooring and windows with DS2 in tow not quite the same experience I think! Shall not elaborate too traumatic. AM glad the flights were un-eventful. I also hear you took some good weather with you. In true british spirit, my mother who has been moaning constantly about the lack of summer/rain is now moaning about 30+ degree heat send some this way I say - how far away is summer. I can smell spring but summer seems a long way away at the moment.

On another note I have had some great news, an old friend of mine is relocating the Wellington in NOvember I am so excited, obviously would be better if Auckland but hey, an old friend in the same country is huge. Am waiting to here her arrival date and will book a work trip down for a sneaky paid visit. Maybe I will hang on at work for a bit longer .

Paps, your house sounds like it is progressing nicely. We bought an old pot belly off a friend the other week to install into our bach. Make it more comfy in the winter because we froze our little socks off last weekedn. Dh was in his element, making fires outside and riding bike on beach, I am ashamed to say I was sour faced, very cold grumpy mummy boiling kettles and making soup trying to generate heat inside. We are back down this weekend too so fingers crossed for a rain free weekend.

hey paps not sure of your musical tastes at all but I love whirimako black, she's playing not too far from us in a few weeks but we can't go but she's playing hastings on 14th September. If you like jazz especially with a moari edge you will love her (or you may already know her). I'm trying to wing a trip with work so I can go with the flights paid

Hello kiwiland friends. I'm just back from visisting friends and family in the Netherlands and a visit to my sister in Devon. Both trips were great but I'm feeling the urge for home a little. I have a week at my mum's now to relax before I head down to spend some time with my family and friends in Portugal. Poor old Dp is missing us terribly, as we are him. I really miss New Zealand and I am so glad that is where I call home! Hope alls well with you both and yours.

Papillon · 27/08/2007 05:09

Thanks for the info about music on the 14th. I do like jazz and so does my neighbour, might see if she wants to go with me. Or maybe you wing that work trip and we could go together Sibble

KJM good to hear from you. Poor old dp missing you both, nice to also hear that your adoption of NZ means you miss the place... although its abit dismal today with rain, last 3 days were blue skies, so should not complain! have a great time in portugal. My sister left on Sunday for 3 weeks in Ireland playing golf croquet and 1 week in SF, USA to see our brother

dh has gotten himself a job in Tauranga, we need some space from each other, even if he does not want it! Good opportunity for him to try and relax he has been really tense, stuff for us to sort out... its been a emotional week.

ds has become a thomas the tank engine junkie and so our new hobby is collecting the little metal trains. he is coming out with quite afew words now which is cool

kjaysmum · 24/09/2007 21:09

Hello. WEll here we are back on home ground and it's very good to be here. Our visit back home was lovely but I know for sure now that I'm living in the right place!
How's thing with you Papillon how is the house coming along and is all good with the family? Dp sends his love.
And you Sibble? hope you haven't had any major dramas lately!?

kjaysmum · 29/09/2007 20:15

ho hum, hello ladies, anybody out there? It'd be nice to see a glimmer of life in this thread be sad to loose it after so long!?! What you up to then that keeps you checking in here? curious face,

Papillon · 01/10/2007 05:02

Hi! Your back Good to hear your glad to be in NZ. We are up in Tauranga, school hols. DH has had engine troubles so we had to drive him back from he was stranded at my place and have stayed on here. Its his birthday this week. Will visit a cousin at their bach near Rotorua in the next few days.

So do I get to hear about the good shoppping now? look I dribbled my p in anticipation

kjaysmum · 01/10/2007 07:07

hiya Paps, good to hear from you. yes I had to go to the warehouse and buy some coathangers!! Unfortunately it's mostly summer cloths so I am waiting for the sunshine and beach weather now. I am having a delayed reaction to the flight and have a trapped nerve in my back which is pretty boring but nice gentle yoga and hot and cold compresses seem to be helping lots. I have signed up for an organic horticultural course at a local college, nice and relaxed summer course one evening a week and a few weekends but it's a start.
Send my birthday greetings to your Ds and have a good time in Rotorua, love to your lo's too x

kjaysmum · 01/10/2007 07:07

Ds? I meant Dh of course!

Papillon · 02/10/2007 02:33

hope your back better soon, I have a sore neck from carting around wheelbarrows full of dirt. Have gotten spa pool going here so hope can help it abit... think jets hurt it though! Just had a power cut for 13 hours.

So what did your ds think of his big travel overseas?

sibble · 02/10/2007 04:53

hi girls, glad to see you are back too. has been quiet on here, have mostly been checking my last posts as as this not in there temporarily forgot about it . Have just been busy with life and school hols really. Dh started a new job which involved him starting his new job and me setting up a company for him, transferring everything into Trusts, re-fixing mortgages, seeing laywers, accountants etc.... Oh to be a bloke and wake with a good idea one day then have somebody else sort it out for you..still keeps me out of mischief.

Work has also been busy and ds1 has just had his agricultural day so in spare moments went into school most days to help with sewing, floral displays and fundraising the latter Ok but I am not known for my sewing skills .

Had a lovely week last week, in the pool everyday in the sunshine, weekend at the back. This week however rain rain rain so far. Have had to abandon gardening efforts as heavens opened yesterday and today. Am trying to get house looking nice for when friend arrives from Wales in 4 weeks time [very excited hyper mummy expression]. Also new windows going in this week, new flooring down next week.

Oh and am training for a 10k run on 14th October. Not doing ver ywell with the training and may well end up walking some of it, but at least am having a go.

Well that's about it for my news. Oh except am going home next May. Have started another thread about that so won't bore you....just a matter of financing the hugely expensive trip . Never mind will worry abotu that tomorrow.....

kjaysmum · 02/10/2007 08:34

hey good to hear your news, won't write much as sitting is pretty painful, oh the joys of getting older!!

Papillon · 03/10/2007 04:38

cripes you cannot sit down! Are you lying about on your couch all day Sibble you make us feel lazy with your goal of running a 10km, and all that working you do, have you time to sleep
I went shopping today and managed to time it right for a kids show of BJ the Bear which they enjoyed.

kjaysmum · 03/10/2007 21:48

I can no longer sit, walk, lie, or stand for more than 1o mins at a time, I have to keep changing position, have got an appointment with a chiropractor this afternoon, goodness I feel sorry for myself this morning, I just get over one health problem and up pops another one, I am trying to stay in a positive frame of mind to keep the right energy flowing but to be honest........lets hope the chiropractor can help...
I don't know who BJ the bear is, is he a kiwi bear or what? and was that shopping for yourself or for food?
Oh Sibble I am craving for my life to be busy like yours but then they say the grass is always greener, so I guess I should make the most of being holed up!!
