Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

Hi Sibble good to have you back, isn't it lovely to know that you're in the right place doing the right thing, you sound so happy, fantastic! Where abouts is your bach, roughly, it sounds pretty damn nice
Thanks, Paps I did have a good evening, did you go for the dinner, I can't imagine meeting up with someone I was involved with at 18, wow so much water under the bridge.
We just had some glorious sunshine over the weekend, ah summer, how I love it!

sibble · 20/11/2007 00:21

it's at port waikato - about 1 1/2 hours south of Auckland on the West Coast, think black sand surf beach similar to Piha (Piha Rescue which ds1 loves although we have to censor it sometimes the last episode with the dead man bobbing about for an hour while his family didn't know and 15 year old lifeguards working out how to get him out was a bit much for me let alone a 7 year old). classic kiwi tv imo. our bach is tiny one of 2 original 1930's bach's boys bedroom with bunks, all purpose kitchen eating room and extension which just fits our sofa bed and old black and white portable tv. toilet is at the end of the quarter acre section in a 'shed' which vibrates in the wind, the roof is corroded so you can see the stars of a night and the shower is in the corner of the garage, we're using camping shower heated by the sun at the moment as the wiring to the main shower is a bit dodgy, you connect two open wires to start the water heater . there's no mobile phone connection and to have a landline put in costs an arm and a leg so no internet and landline. There's a chip shop and wharf store apart from that supplies are 20 mins away (and basic then).

It's fab

sounds like you have the quintessential kiwi bach Sibble! Parts of my bach date back to a similar area and swinging a cat is out of the question, oh well not so much vacuum cleaning

KJM, not made any effort to get organised to travel down to Wellington... so much travel atm going to Taupo each weekend and the financial side of it. I think I need to get my energy up more before I head south. You guys are always welcome here Friends of mine will be staying with my parents for new years. Have you thought about what you are doing for New Years?

Papillon · 23/11/2007 02:48

Blimey these petrol price hikes I will have to dust off my magic carpet and fly down to Wellington !!

Rode to kindy this morning and then to playcentre, the girls were picked up in the donkey cart so we are saving dollars and the donkeys are so fat they need a half marathon every day for a month! Mum is going to take them to the kindy xmas party soon, so the kids can all have a ride, the reindeer complain about the heat

kjaysmum · 23/11/2007 07:24

Bach sounds wonderful Sibble, I feel like I could run off to somewhere without all the distractions at times, at the moment I have my yoga room and my garden for sanctuary and that's just fine.
It's a lovely idea to come up your way Paps, if I did it would probably be a spontanious couple of days type jaunt, am a bit of a home girl at the moment though, what with all the stuff I got going on, is a slow old process. New year, no haven't got that far yet...shall have to see what Dp is thinking of. to you lot going off to kindy donkey drawn, Ds would just love to do that me too really xxxx

Papillon · 28/11/2007 22:19

I have a plan to visit Wgtn next weekend. Would arrive down late Friday night. Will be passing by your area on Sunday, so I could pop in for a up of tea, can not stay longer, its abit of a rush trip!

Would be lovely to have you guys up here for new years, you are most welcome.

The ground here is so dry, feel like I am watering alot, have just been given some cherry tomatoes and I am looking forward to seeing them produce so the kids can help themselves

kjaysmum · 29/11/2007 07:31

Ok sunday the 2nd December it is, we shall be home, it'll be great to catch up with you.

Thanks for the lovely offer for new years, we'll think on it.

Yes it is dry, out lawn is browning now, looks like some pretty hefty cloud building up though so hopefully some rain is on the cards, hope you get it too, maybe a rain dance is in order

Papillon · 30/11/2007 01:04

Actually it is not next weekend it is the 15, 16th December I would be down your way.

Off early tonight with the kids to taupo, not too hot which is good. And they will both sleep

kjaysmum · 03/12/2007 07:01

Hiya, as far as I can see we don't have anything planned for that weekend either, so come on down

SibbleTheRedNosedPossum · 07/12/2007 04:31

hello, how are you both, things have been quiet on here lately but guess you are the same, caught up in the pre-Christmas madness and hectic as.... Feel like I've been on a continual conveyer belt of childrens, school, pre-school activities. Throw in nights out with dh and you get a very exhausted sibble. Caught up with me at the weekend and succumbed to the tummy bug which turns into a sore throat and cough that the boys have had and I thought I'd managed to avoid. But good news, a friend from home (along with her dh and 4 children) has moved to Wellington, can't wait to get down and catch up with her.

Boys are fighting had better go and referee...catch you both soon.

good to hear from you Sibble... yes pretty much the same here, not doing so much computer time, hope your tummy gets better soon, it'd be great to catch up with you in this neck of the woods some time in the future.
Papillon, we are having a BBQ in the late afternoon of the 15th with just one couple and thier son coming round, you are very welcome to join. Have a invite to a lunch time do on the 16th but is only round the corner and they are an open bunch so don't let it stop you calling in on the Sunday. Still having lots of fun down the beach until this afternoon when it finally started raining Yippeee!!

Papillon · 10/12/2007 01:39

Hi, kjm would be visiting probably middle to mid afternoon. Still deciding whether to drive or fly.

Nice to hear from you Sibble. Get better soon and enjoy the christmas festivities.

Been busy here, played in NZ Golf croquet tournie... bit knackered today!

kjaysmum · 10/12/2007 21:19

ah... your visit does seem to be coinciding with a party we are going to round the corner as it's a lunch time barbie and water pistol party! I really would like you to meet these folks though so I'm angling for an extended invite......shall let you know

kjaysmum · 11/12/2007 01:20

hi again, it looks like my friends barbie may be pretty small as she has been a bit crook this week, she says you are totally welcome to call by if we happen to still be there when you arrive, she has two Dd's ages four and 1.8 and is my organic horticulture course and yoga partner, should be fun

Papillon · 11/12/2007 05:06

You sound very social kj that is great

It looks like I will be driving down and need to be back in the Bay round 4pm - 5pm so a late morning, lunch time visit

You had better send me some directons, or your address!

kjaysmum · 11/12/2007 08:12

good stuff, shall call you tomorrow

Papillon · 18/12/2007 23:29

KJM was so impressed with your state of serenity and inner confidence... wonderful to see Hope you had a good barbie, wished I could have come. Visited my grandad who had turned 96 the day before then made it back by 4pm.

Just had a fun day today at Jungle Junction an indoor play adventure for kids... it was arranged by kindy, we all went on the school which one of the kindy mums drives. Yesterday was Santa who arrived on my Mums donkey cart!! So the kids have been having lots of action.

Papillon · 19/12/2007 01:06

went on the school bus...

kjaysmum · 21/12/2007 06:53

Hi Paps, it was great to catch up with you too, glad you've been having some fun. The barbie was a giggle, just three families all armed with water pistols, it was so good to see the grown ups letting go a bit, just what I needed and without alcohol involved (well just a little for the rest of them) very refreshing. Santa donkey drawn, that really appeals to me I'm sure Ds would love to see that. Catch you again soon I hope, maybe Parihaka....bit pricey but the kid zone looks pretty impressive!!

Papillon · 22/12/2007 22:03

Going to ask the folks about Bertha when they back from NP actually!! they are visiting friends there. If I came, would start 2 days earlier and make alittle tiki tour with the kids

Got my parents place to myself for a couple of days... lovely

kjaysmum · 29/12/2007 07:35

Hello Paps, hope you had a good rest at your folks I am a tad at the thought of that hot tub I must confess. Any more thoughts about the festie, it'd be so cool if you could make it, I'm really excited about the thought of grooving to a good band, it's been such a very long time!!

SibbleTheRedNosedPossum · 03/01/2008 20:37

hi, just back from the bach - what a fantastic christmas and new year. hope yours were equally as good

kjaysmum · 05/01/2008 07:21

Hiya Sibble, glad you had a good'n, it's been very quiet on 'our thread' of late, everyone is just so busy. We put a tent up in the garden today in practice for the Parihaka festival, Ds is very excited, we bought him his own sleeping bag and he just can't wait to sleep in it, we shall see if that's the case when we're camping in the middle of a festival!! The weekend after that we are flying up to Auckland for a brief visit as we are going to a wedding, which is going to be just wonderful, busy, busy, busy!!
