Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

hi Paps, sorry to hear you're feeling low. Guess you still have an awful lot of emotional stuff to deal with, don't you? I hope your Dd's birthday if a few days will cheer you up after all it's a celebration of all your hard work too x

Tiggerish · 25/10/2007 22:11

Hi guys! I hope you don't mind me gatecrashing to ask a question?

My dh is in NZ with our dc and is having trouble finding similar nappies to the ones we use in the UK - pull-ups size 5 (she weighs 15kg I think) but not potty training ones.

Any ideas? What do you all use? and where do you buy them?

I'm off to bed now but will check back tomorrow!

Thanks,
Tigs.

(P.S. also posting on the other current NZ thread)

kjaysmum · 26/10/2007 07:18

sorry tiggerish, we never used pullups, but will ask a pal tomorrow, may be a bit late for you by the time I get back with an answer though, good luck.

sibble · 26/10/2007 20:07

hi paps, hope your dd had a great birthday party and you had a good time too. Each time I come I can't get over how beautiful Hawkes Bay is, but I guess I'm lucky with the weather, it's always sunny. I had time to kill before the flight back so sat in a cafe had a lovely meal and glass of wine, then went and sat in the late afternoon sun for an hour reading my magazine. A very rare treat.

Papillon · 29/10/2007 07:19

Thanks for the birthday wishes. She has had a wonderful two days of birthdays. Will post more tomorrow, very tired and need my bed.

kjaysmum · 31/10/2007 19:46

glad she had a good b'day. Hope you caught up on some sleep and have got some energy back.
It's raining here today, which is great for my veggies, I love this gardening malarky, it's quite addictive, growing from seed it so satisfying and I can manage to do it now without hurting my back, it's quite strange whats happening to me I am becoming quite the cottager these days and I love it, I even made marmalade off my oranges the other day I reckon it's after all those years on the move it's so nice to be putting down roots (literally)

Papillon · 01/11/2007 04:54

Hey, still catching up on my rest. Did abit too much biking yesterday, forced to because my car was in for repairs. Had to have a lie down at lunch time, dd then had a sleep which was good as it was trick or treat night and we were up late, she went with my sister and her cousin (same age) around the neighbourhood and we had about 6 groups come by. It was quite festive and I decorated a pumpkin, lit candles and showed the kids at bedtime a book about spells and witches. Kind of to show that witches aren´t scary and that mummy is abit of a witch really.

It is supposed to rain here today, it is looking like it might? The grass has gone brown already! Glad to hear you are enjoying the gardening KJM

Just come back only wrote half that post, it did not rain so my washing was safe

Had a nice afternoon with a friend, the kids feed the ducks at their pond and wandered around the paths, the countryside is a grand place to be

Haumoana has its annual fair this weekend I have to bake two cakes tomorrow [hhmm]

kjaysmum · 02/11/2007 19:01

How did your cakes turn out Paps? I've got a failsafe muffing recipe if you want it, I am becoming a bit of a muffin fiend actually, all part of trying to eat little and often. I had been doing so well with my regime, eating really bland food, doing my yoga twice a day and then yesterday afternoon we went swimming in the outdoor pool by us, ah lovely, Mike picked us up after work and we had fish and chips and a beer by the beach, all a great deal of fun but sure enough I was awake at four in the morning in agony, ah life and it's little temptations!!!
Hope you are feeling a bit better this weekend Paps, is you Dh with you now or still up in Tauranga. Did you talk to your dad about his plans for your house?

kjaysmum · 02/11/2007 19:02

'muffing' ha

Papillon · 04/11/2007 06:48

muffing your "m" words, see Mike got a mention!

Muffins went very well, would love your recipe. Used a recipe from an Alison Holst book, that my sister uses... and they are good. Made two batches in the end as the ginger loaf was more like ginger brick. Quite like loaf cakes though so want to try again, perhaps also try a fruit loaf as they are nice with abit of butter.

Since I had to get a new cell phone, do not have your cell or home phone number, would love to ring you up soon

DH is still living up in Tauranga. He has been here in the weekend. Haumoana market day was lots of fun and was there from 9am till about 2pm. Mostly doing face painting for the school never done it before, but managed to produce a witch, fairies and butterflies. Not bad off the cuff, bluffed my way through it all rather well!

kjaysmum · 05/11/2007 20:03

ok here's the easy muffin recipe this is how my friend gave it to me but I tend to go more light handed on the baking powder....

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
half cup of sugar
1 cup of milk
100g butter
1 egg
1cup of fruit (or veggies, dried fruit add more liquid)

melt butter and let cool. Add egg and milk and beat lots. Add fruit and dry ingredients.

Cook 220 c for 12-15 mins.

easy peasy.

Will text numbers through to you soon, very busy week this week.....

Papillon · 07/11/2007 19:15

That sounds just like the recipe I have. Although the recipe to be very light with beating and to fold the dry ingredients and the wet very gently till only just mixed.

Hope your week is going well

Sibble I do hope you can come out and visit me by the sea shore next time you are in the Bay

kjaysmum · 09/11/2007 07:28

hmm yes that too, suspect it may be an edmonds then! Hope alls good with you, it's been a stunning day today we've been off down the beach getting the kids into the sea, great fun and good for Kane's eczema which is rearing it's ugly head again Hope you're lo's are over their illnesses now and you are feeling ok. my Mobile number is 0 2 1 1 6 5 3 8 9 8. Hope we are still going to see you soon? XX

Papillon · 09/11/2007 21:18

Weather here too fabulous, how I endured years of Switzerlands crap weather I just don´t know! Planted some tomato plants yesterday, few seeds and such rich flavour, hope I can get them to thrive, they are rather fragile atm.

Feeling quite good after a rather low time, the kids are well and with their dad this week, giving me time to myself which I really need. Does not make dh very happy but I have been feeling overloaded and so the ugly truth about my feelings have risen up and revealed themselves. Going to try and do some writing today and enjoy my own flow

kjaysmum · 11/11/2007 08:18

good to hear you're feeling better, hope you found your flow . To be true about your feelings is only be ugly if someone makes it so because it does not fit in with their reality, is what I'm thinking. Stay special

kjaysmum · 13/11/2007 07:51

hello Papillon, how are you? Hope my profound (or maybe not ) comments haven't upset you, I was just really thinking about what you had written and that's what popped into my head. I am having a very analytical time myself at the moment which may have contributed to my comments, my yoga and homeopathy is bringing up lots of stuff from the past, the hope is that by dealing with this suppressed stuff I can clear blockages which might be making me sick. I really hope it works cause it ain't easy I can tell you!
Hope you got some writing done and had a good break xx

Papillon · 13/11/2007 22:24

Just texted you, feeling quite bored atm, which is not uncommon for me, I do like more action lifestyle and staying home with the kids is getting abit monotone. If I came down would probably come on a sunday night if that was cool? Might not get in till 10 onwards though?

Going to start doing Yoga, the one in Haumoana is not happening.

dd did not want to go to kindy so had breakfast with the whanau now they watch a dvd. its raining so laying low till the weather clears. Thanks for the insights they were spot on but he still loves and wants me which is hard. Can see such improvements in him too, its like a new person sometimes.

kjaysmum · 14/11/2007 21:25

you know Papillon, I am working through a lot of stuff at the moment and am taking specific remedies and doing a yoga practice to help with this, the hope is that I can shift a blockage wich may be contributing to making me sick. I am having my first ever night away from my Ds on saturday, probably a bit overdue to be honest, this should give me some time, I hope it doesnt make me too upset but I wanted you to know what's going on with me before you visit, I'm sure your presence and that of your lo's will only help my mood as it seems there is a time when you need to be alone for this kind of soul searching and a time when it's just a breath of fresh air to be surrounded by the hussle and bussle of family life, so please come, no pressure

kjaysmum · 14/11/2007 21:27

I meant upset by the soul searching not the night away form Ds!!

Papillon · 16/11/2007 23:11

Hey KJM, enjoy your night away tonight! The kids are with dh again this weekend. I am off to play golf croquet with my dad and sister which will be good for my spirits. Have a feeling I will probably be invited for dinner at parents tonight, my "first love" at 18 will be there, not really keen to go tbh

How you doing Sibble? How is the workload?

sibble · 18/11/2007 17:46

hello, am back. have had friends from home (well Wales) staying for 2 weeks, they left for Melbourne on Saturday. I can't tell you how lovely it was having an old friend here, somebody to show everything to so they understand why we live on the other side of the world, chat to without having to think what to say and relax with....the downside was they don't have children and it's a long time since I've lived the single alcohol flowing lifestyle . Don't get me wrong, I love my wine but not in the quantity I used to drink it a bottle over the course of a evening with dinner and nibbles and I'm wasted the next day, grumpy with the boys when they hop into bed for their 5.30 am cuddle....man these guys were drinking a bottle before dinner and then some...so dh and I headed to the bach for the weekend armed with lots of salads and fruit and no alcohol and have come back feeling slightly more human.

We had such a lovely weekend, boys in the surf, dh trying out his early christmas pressie - body board - me reading trashy magazines and catching some rays, watching the sunset. Sometimes I hanker after my old exec suit wearing wine swilling days but after my visitors I really don't want it back I love my life now. As for work, I've run the workload down am not going to take on any more projects and have started working for a charity which I am so excited about. More about that later.

Have to go ds2 wants to see grandad on the computer had better reload skype!!

Seems we have all been doing alot of soul searching thinking lately!! Take care girls.
