Hi Guys

Have started us a new thread, hope you don't mind. With my dinosaur it takes me forever to scroll down to the bottom to post! (Don't ask)

Papillon - I am so happy for you. I hope things work out for you all. I am monitoring (auditing) drug trials atm (not for long I hope!!) Luckily Hastings HC is a smooth centre, the staff lovely and of course a great place to visit so it makes the trip worth while. Last time it was too hard to organise the boys for an overnight trip so I caught the first plane out, the last plane back and spent all day in a room with no windows going cross eyed counting drugs and checking records while the sun shone outside. NOw DH is practised in teh art of child care I will stay at least 1 night and hopfully see more than 4 walls.

ssshakethechi - you just have to come and join the ever growing band of NZ mumsnetters, we are growing by the day.

I meant to say get some directions of where to meet!

OP posts:
Papillon · 15/06/2007 06:02

Havelock North is just 10 minutes from me. We could get a bite to eat in Havelock North rather than you come out to my place which not so visitor friendly atm.

We did buy some 2nd hand French doors today and so the garage soon to be living room is starting to come together. We have decided to call it the Garing - combo of garage and living room. I like mixing words up and making new ones!

kjaysmum · 15/06/2007 10:20

Hi ladies, have just been looking at the other kiwi thread, nz and ozzie mums online, Vizbizz is having trouble finding free legal advice. I don't really know the ins and outs of her problem but maybe you do. Could you take a look maybe you know someone who can help her with this.

Have a great time together when you get together maybe oneday we'll all meet up, that would be so cool.

Papillon · 21/06/2007 05:49

Had lovely lunch and chat to Sibble today Was really great to meet you Sibble and have "face time"

Hope you journey home went safe and sound and that your ds is doing okay??

Thinking of you lots KJM

kjaysmum · 21/06/2007 10:11

Hello ladies, glad you had a good meet up. All good here, feeling fine!

Off to a dps cousins 21st birthday hoedown party in hamilton this weekend, so please send good weather vibes to the desert road tomorrow morning! I've just got the old sowing machine out and have been sowing cow material onto various items of clothing, we should look reasonably hoedownish if slightly odd! what's new

Papillon · 26/06/2007 02:43

Still not online at the house, and busy painting and putting in French Doors today and the fireplace. Hope you are doing well

kjaysmum · 28/06/2007 01:26

I'm good, rushing around to appointments and stuff and preparing for our trip. It'll be great for you to get those doors in

Papillon · 01/07/2007 04:45

can't find your home phone number, you aren't in the white pages. Will text you soon so we can have a talk

My mum fell over a wall today whilst gardening and broke her wrist. I told her I think the gods of sloth are telling her to be lazy as she never does relax much, often call her the enegiser bunny!

kjaysmum · 03/07/2007 07:56

hi Paps, no we're not in the book I shall text you our number, would be nice to have a chat. Things ok here, just, but a tad complicated, I'm finding the complications rather boring to be honest but then no-one said this venture would be easy, so it's a good job I'm up for it
ouch for you mum, it's a huge garden to maintain no wonder she's always at it, at least it happened in the winter and not when the apples were in season, hope she heals fast.
Hope all is good with you and yours, how's the batch doing, did you get those doors in ok, does that mean you've moved into the garage convertion?

Papillon · 03/07/2007 08:47

cool look forwards to a chat garage is still work in progress. Got to take the kids home now, at parents

sibble · 05/07/2007 06:01

hi Paps. Huge delay in saying, thanks for driving all the way to see me for lunch at short notice. It was great to finally meet you. Looks like I'm going to be keeping the job for the time being. Too long and boring to go into. So will definately have to do dinner and a few wines next time. DS is still coughing his little guts up, so no change there then

Into school hols big time. Took boys swimming on Monday, very traumatic experience. Turned around to decide where to put towels, turned back and both boys gone. Did the, they won't be far stance...then the surely they won't be far with heart rate rising...to the frantic running along the edge of the pool...heart in mouth - where are they panic. Then saw head of DS2, well his goggles, thank God he had them on totally immersed in water. Have never run into a pool so quickly in my life. At same time lifeguard saw him and jumped in. Once our panic subsided, I got a severe telling off for not supervising my children, my 'but I only turned around to put our towels down', sounded pathetic. Had knuckles severely rapped, then had to see the supervisor about the Incident. While I was speaking to her, DS2 was frantically trying to lunge off the side into the deep end.
Nerves completely shattered, we are giving the pools a miss for the rest of the holidays. Thought we might try snowplanet next week, at least he can't drown in snow

You should write a diary noting down your sons antics Sibble, what sends shivers and terror to you on a daily basis would make a funny story of many episodes! Scary when they jump in the water only to sink like stones.

I have been getting to know some good woman in my area more, and developing some nice friendships which I am pleased about. Will have to a girl night at my place once the renovations are over and rejoice!

KJM lovely to talk to you on phone other day

kjaysmum · 05/07/2007 21:38

oh my goodness, sibble, just reading your thread made me nervous, thank goodness they were ok, it really is just one of those things isn't it and goes to show it only does take a few seconds for a situation like that to occur.

Yes Paps, good to talk, hope everything works out for you and yours {{{hugs}} If you do decide to visit wellington I could always meet you down there if it makes it easier, we could just do a daytime thing with the kids.

Busybee if your looking, nice to meet you the other day, I think it's fantastic that two total strangers can meet up and have so much in common, good old mum's net. You're Dd was lovely once she came out of her shell, sorry Ds wasn't there to make it easier for her, next time then . Hopethings are going well with you.

kjaysmum · 09/07/2007 08:47

can't be bothered to beat around the bush here anymore Paps. It's sad news I'm afraid no sibbling for Ds this time. We have decided to try and get me into remission and have one last attempt when I return from the Uk. If that doesn't happen we're aiming for a place out of town with lots of animals maybe even a Donkey or two, sorry if that sounds a bit ridiculous but maybe it's just helping me to look forward in a different way.

sibble · 09/07/2007 21:06

hi kjm, sorry to hear your news. Obviously not sure how long you've been trying etc but I have a 41/2 year age gap with lots of trying and at least 1 miscarriage between the two. I fell pregnant with ds2 after I decided it wasn't going to happen, had gone back to work and decided on the little 2 seater soft top car I was going to buy for me and ds1. Go and choose your donkey's you never know!

ON another note we have been broken into again - 3rd time now. Fortunately my neighbour saw and distrubed them (pure chance) so they only took the playstation and all of DH's clothes suits, work shirts etc.... Considering how little they took, they cut the mains power, kicked the front door in, ripped holes in the cuiling trying to find and stop the alarm not nice to come home to. So we are not off to snowplanet it's a day at home waiting for everything to be fixed (hopefully). Unfortunately I had left a piece of fish in the fridge when we went away, 2 days with the fridge off - you can imagine the smell. The policewomen looked in horror when she came in and said 'omg what did they do?!' I had to admit to the fish in the fridge Mental note, check fridge better before going away.

Hope you're well paps....

Awww bugger ((((KJM)))) just came on this morning to see how you are doing...

...maybe its not meant to be right now, especially with you weeks away from your travels to Europe. Does not make it any easier to bear

Thinking of you lots xxx

Sibble 3 times! Good you have neighbours who watch - annoying being a high risk to this happening. Do you have burglar alarms? Sorry to also hear about the fish, release it at snow planet for the polar bears?? Just as long as your ds does not feed it to them

feel abit shit cracking jokes cos I feel so sad for you KJM, but smiles help sometimes...

Papillon · 11/07/2007 06:06

((((KJM))))

hope you got some good rest yesterday and are doing ok

kjaysmum · 11/07/2007 21:20

Thanks Papillon,

It's a slow process, but think I'm throught he worst of the physical side of it now. I'm off to see my homeopathist this morning, she should be able to help. Other than then Dp and I are being as philosophical as possible, so we're doing ok. I'll call you soon x

Papillon · 15/07/2007 02:02

DH sends his condolences told him this morning about your loss. Hope you doing better. Have been offline, but now have internet at home.

Went out last night to see an Auckland band, they were kinda rockabilly with a female bad girl singer who came out for the 2nd song in a saucy bikini outfit! Lots of dancing and abit of a lie in as the kids were at my sisters

kjaysmum · 15/07/2007 06:19

Please tell him thanks so much for his thoughts.
Good on you for getting out and getting a lie in too, well done. Are you all back in your house now then, how's it going? I was thinking of you today as we drove over to Marsterton to pick up a suitcase my house guest had left over there and we drove the long way round via the gorge, it reminded me of my drive up to see you so was reminiscing somewhat.
Have been thinking about you too Sibble, thankyou for your kind words it's an unbelievably tricky experience to take in your stride isn't it, but we're getting there. How are you after your break in, how awful for you and your family, I'd be tempted to get a bloody big dog!!

kjaysmum · 15/07/2007 08:51

I am trying to think of a book to take with me on my travels, I'd like it to not be too big and was thinking of something maybe involving someone's life journey, something to help me with my innerself but not too heavy, I'm kind of on a slightly buddhist mixed with my yoga line of thought but have read some dalai lama and my journey to lhasa and could probably do with a story in there to make it easier to pick up and put down, any suggestions?

sibble · 15/07/2007 20:47

hi kjm, it is a slow path and everybaody gets there in their own time.

as for our break in. it's the second this year adn although it's very traumatic it's dealing with the insurance company and the aftermath that's hard. I have a PI coming tomorrow to check we really have been broken into!! Check out the holes in the ceiling mate. We have thought about a dog but 'I'm really scared of them. I was attacked by a german sherherd when I was 15 and ended up in A&E and don't think a Terrier will cut it really . To top it all we were 2 days without pwer and phone with the storms up here last week so me and the boys were housebound as couldn't go out (no front door or alarm!) This week is looking much more promising. AM also angry that a whole week of DS's school hols was wasted, we had so much planned, so have promised him he can have a day off school to see the Egyptian expo at the museum, he's just missed all the holiday activities that go with it.

Anyway, enough about me. A night out without children and a lie in, I am soooooooo jealous I have to take the boys to England, leave them with my parents and catch the train to a friends in Wales to experience that. Oh, they are good days...

OP posts:
sibble · 15/07/2007 20:50

ps, I'm useless on the book front, have hardly read since having children. My favourties are the secret and the celestine prophesy, but they are old hat. Paps will probably be able to drum up a few good ones.
