Warrant out for me

LauraLesleyLogan · 16/01/2018 18:51

I've done something stupid and failed to show up at Jury duty which I know is so wrong though have had different things to deal with recently which I know is no excuse.

Now it appears a warrant has been issued for my arrest. I have had a phone call to say I have to go to the police station and could be locked up to appear in court.

Anyone know whats likely to happen to me. Proper bricking it.

Scary though self inflicted.

and use of resources could be going on 'actual' criminals!! shock

No because custody staff who would have dealt with her are civilians and don't deal with crimes. It's had absolutely no impact whatsoever on Resources. Completely different departments and staff

WitchesHatRim · 17/01/2018 15:56

I think it's utterly ridiculous that they do this to people, surely that money and use of resources could be going on 'actual' criminals!!

In a way it is stopping them dealing with 'actual criminals'. Failing to turn up for jury service could mean trials can't go ahead!

LittleMe03 · 17/01/2018 16:14

Let us know how it all went OP

sugaredstrawberries · 17/01/2018 16:32

Okay fair enough but still, treating people who miss jury service as criminals is awful. You shouldn't be 'forced' to do anything in this day and age Sad yes it's a moral duty and for those able they should attend however it should not be an 'offence'.

ijustwantfiveminutespeace · 17/01/2018 16:50

Op, what have they done with you?

Bluedoglead · 17/01/2018 16:53

If it was just a moral duty the make up of juries wouldn’t be representative as the only people who could go would be those who were at home in the day.

Juries are meant to be representative.

Bluedoglead · 17/01/2018 16:54

As an aside, op, I hope that isn’t your name in your username here.

Paperwhites · 17/01/2018 18:31

Well if it is, it's the only time she's posted.

Mooey89 · 17/01/2018 18:47

Hope you’re ok OP

AnnieAnoniMouse · 17/01/2018 18:55

Like someone said earlier, I’m surprised they’ve been so harsh over someone not turning up at the selection stage. I can understand once they’ve been chosen.

Hope it wasn’t too bad 💐

ThePinkPanter · 17/01/2018 18:56

Hope the OP got on OK

SmittenApril · 17/01/2018 19:00

Was thinking about you here too, hope all has gone ok

fruitbrewhaha · 17/01/2018 19:07

crap, no update, I wonder how OP go on

iMatter · 17/01/2018 19:27

I only caught up on this thread this evening.

How awful for you OP.

I hope you are ok.

MoodyTwo · 17/01/2018 19:30

Hope everything went ok x

AgentProvocateur · 17/01/2018 19:36

Great advice, @nickynacky.

Last time I was on jury duty at the high court, two potential jurors didn’t turn up and the police were sent to their homes to get them.

Paperwhites · 17/01/2018 20:09

Except 'nickynacky' omitted to give the MOST important piece of advice i.e. the OP is/was entitled to free legal advice.

I'm not sure how appropriate it is for a serving police officer to be on here encouraging people to accept their guilt without legal advice.

I am very inclined to report it to the relevant authorities.

Nicknacky · 17/01/2018 20:12

I think you will find I advised her to take legal advice. Report me for what exactly? I can assure you I have done nothing that brings the service into disrepute.

And you don't have any information about me in order to report me.......

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 17/01/2018 20:12

@Paperwhites I presume you're being ironic? @Nicknacky did indeed say that the OP was entitled to speak to a lawyer - rtft please! And @Nicknacky has given lots of good and sensible advice.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 17/01/2018 20:13

Bloody bold fail. Don't know what happened there - sorry folks.

@Nicknacky well said.

Nicknacky · 17/01/2018 20:16

*hello, is that Police Scotland? I want to report the nicknacky failed to remember to tell someone on a chat forum that the legal advice she was entitled to was FREE"

PS....."errr ok"

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 17/01/2018 20:16

Am now chuckling at @Paperwhites going to tell tales on you 😃
The MN Police officer 👮‍♀️

Paperwhites · 17/01/2018 20:17

nickynacky you did not mention legal advice UNTIl I raised it last night.

And you know it.

Please do check.

Paperwhites · 17/01/2018 20:19

No nickynacky you failed to mention that the OP was entitled to legal advice at all.

The most important piece of advice.

I've already reported you.

Nicknacky · 17/01/2018 20:21

So you mentioned it first, who cares. I know fine well she will be offered legal advice as does anyone that comes into the custody suite. I forgot to mention it when I was telling her what to expect.
