Warrant out for me

LauraLesleyLogan · 16/01/2018 18:51

I've done something stupid and failed to show up at Jury duty which I know is so wrong though have had different things to deal with recently which I know is no excuse.

Now it appears a warrant has been issued for my arrest. I have had a phone call to say I have to go to the police station and could be locked up to appear in court.

Anyone know whats likely to happen to me. Proper bricking it.

Scary though self inflicted.

This is quite an eye opener, I haven't been called for jury service, I'd go if I was but I had no idea it would be so serious not to.

123getwiththewicked · 17/01/2018 12:33

Oh OP I hope you're ok. I was thinking of you throughout the night Thanks

Aridane · 17/01/2018 12:34

expatinscotland · 17/01/2018 12:35

Hope you are okay, OP, and out.

lougle · 17/01/2018 13:49

Thinking of you, LLL, you've done really well to attend voluntarily. I'm sure that will have gone in your favour.

MissDuke · 17/01/2018 14:35

Checking back for an update. Thinking of you op!

Graphista · 17/01/2018 14:44

Hope you're ok op.

For others possibly reading you can get exemption from jury duty for mh reasons if serious enough (genuinely) I have quite serious mh issues and panicked when I got called. Cpn explained this and I got a Drs letter to support (psychiatrist not GP).

I would have been useless as if I'm anxious (which I really would have been) my decision making goes to pot anyway!

Ginger1982 · 17/01/2018 14:48

Sorry, I've not read the whole thread but I'm a criminal lawyer in Scotland and find this a bit odd. Usually this would only happen if person was a sitting juror in an already begun trial. This seems very unusual just for not turning up to be potentially picked. As I said though, I've not had a chance to read the whole thread so may have missed something.

Graphista · 17/01/2018 14:48

Sorry - meant to say - but you DO have to notify the court ASAP and not mess them about.

twotired · 17/01/2018 14:53

Checking in for an update, hope you are ok OP. I can't imagine how worried you must have been last night.

SparklyMagpie · 17/01/2018 14:58

Hope You're alright OP and it wasn't too rough a night

Loyaultemelie · 17/01/2018 15:02

Hope you are ok Op and it wasn't too bad

MrsWineasaurus · 17/01/2018 15:34

Hope everything went ok
OP xx

LanceTrumpstrong · 17/01/2018 15:43

Go to your Dr as an emergency, tell them that you are very stressed by the idea of jury duty, sleepless nights, the worry you'd get it wrong, or whatever. Then you have registered a 'sick note'!! :))

Nicknacky · 17/01/2018 15:47

lance A doctor isn't going to retrospectively provide any documentation like that. Doctors aren't going to risk their reputation and registration because someone didn't go to court when instructed.

Redglitter · 17/01/2018 15:51

If a doctor issues a sick note it won't be done retrospectively.

Ffs the OP has said numerous times she did the wrong thing and has never tried to make excuses. Anyway the matter will have been dealt with by now

sugaredstrawberries · 17/01/2018 15:51

I don't really have any advice but didn't want to read and run. I think it's utterly ridiculous that they do this to people, surely that money and use of resources could be going on 'actual' criminals!! Shock

Nicknacky · 17/01/2018 15:53

sugar'For the umpteenth time, the only resources used for this are custody stuff, transport court etc. No police officers were used.
