Hey all. Thread for those who will be on the journey early 2026.

I'm Scotland based and due to start my 3rd IVF cycle on the 3rd Jan (long protocol).

These threads can really help with support and just knowing someone else is going through it at the same time.

I had an 8 week scan yesterday and all fine. Can’t wait to be at 12 weeks though!

@FairislePatterned yes it’s such a nervous time the long wait to 12 weeks, I feel great actually a lot better than in the beginning but I’m of all the medication now apart from progesterone so my body feels much better, it still doesn’t seem real though. My hubby says I won’t think it’s real until the 2nd of October when it’s out 🤣 due to my age the have said the won’t let me go past 39 weeks though so will now be a September delivery

@camelinastormglad you are feeling better. How long will you be on progesterone for? I’ve been prescribed it until 12 weeks.
I know what you mean about feeling better off all the IVF drugs. I just feel like I’ve lost all sense of what “normal” feels like!
I’m doing ok, exhausted but the nausea isn’t too bad at the moment- it’s mainly the tiredness affecting me. How about you?

Survey for uni project on inequality in NHS-funded IVF access
Hi everyone!

For my final major project at university as a Journalism student & as a child of IVF myself, who has heard the first-hand struggles my mum faced by having to fund & undergo many trials of IVF, because of this I will be writing an article which explores the inequalities in NHS-funded IVF access across the UK (regarding postcode lottery).

If you have experience with IVF yourself, I would be more than grateful if you could fill this survey out (it will stay anonymous, it's just for statistics).

@FairislePatterned im on progesterone until 14 weeks no idea why, yes the loosing sense of how we should feel and not what the meds make us feel is crazy, have you had scans and booking appointments yet

@camelinastormi guess different ivf clinics have different standard times for progesterone? When I saw a thread about someone really wanting it and not being prescribed it, it made me feel very grateful for getting it for 12 weeks on the nhs.
I had a scan at an EPU at 7 weeks as I had spotting and was freaking out- all fine, right size and strong heartbeat. Then had my 8 weeks discharge scan from ivf hospital- still right size and strong heartbeat but a bit of bleeding in my womb- they said not to worry about it. I have my midwife checking in appt tmrw and an approx 10 week scan in a couple of weeks- they’re giving me an extra one at the hospital im registered with because of ivf and complex gynae history.
How about you?
This may be a silly question, but if you’re in london/a city where you’re on public transport lots, have you started wearing a badge yet?!

@FairislePatterned oh that’s good to know they are looking after you, I’ve have a scan at 6 , 8 and 10 weeks that were extra due to early miscarriages and being under the hospital for that, I then have had my 12 week one and a consultation appointment, but my next scan isn’t until 20 weeks then the have me down for 28, 32 and 34 weeks, no I don’t live in London but do work there and have to go into the office every 8 ish weeks, I didn’t know anything about a badge, may look into this for my next work trip as the tubes are awful for standing when feeling groggy from symptoms. I will unfortunately be induced at 38 weeks just due to my age, I have had children before all came fully natural so this was a bit of a downer they have said as it ivf that makes it high risk along with the fact I’m just over 40.

@OneGladOtter i burst out crying saying I didn’t want to go in the sad room, been there too many times and it was just too much, I’ve had 2 since and still the anxiety is through the roof

@camelinastormdefinitely look on TFL to get a badge for the tube!
I’m sorry to hear that about being induced. I was told I was high risk (39, ivf and a newly high bmi 🤦‍♀️) at my booking appointment. It was fine but upsetting re BMI! I have found surgery and ivf have done nothing for my fitness.

@OneGladOtterabsolutely about scans. I think it is normal though to be nervous? I really hope yours goes well. How many weeks are you?

Early loss girls so I am back on the IVF train. Trying to be positive, first time I’ve ever seen a positive so one step closer! Thanks so much for all your support

Thank you, I have my follow up appointment mid April so will no more then- hopefully we can go again in May but just wait and see at the moment! Large glass of wine will be coming my way later 🍷

it is heartening to have got further than you’ve got before- but so heartbreaking still. Definitely you deserve a big glass of wine.
