Hey all. Thread for those who will be on the journey early 2026.

I'm Scotland based and due to start my 3rd IVF cycle on the 3rd Jan (long protocol).

These threads can really help with support and just knowing someone else is going through it at the same time.

Good luck everyone.

Hi !! I'm 39 from Canada, It is my first cycle of IVF after 2 years of trying and 2 failed insemination. Never had a positive test yet, unexplained infertility (possibly just our age). I'm on day 4 of Gonal and Luveris after a month of Androgel. Don't really know what to except on my day 6 scan because I usually don't have a lot of follicules (2 or 3 visibles each side on the first scan this month). Even if she told me that there could be more too small to be visible, i'm not really hopefull. Anyone saw the number of folicule grow during the process ?

Thanks for sharing your stories, our parents don't know yet that we are on this journey and we will tell them this weekend, this is stressfull !

So Grateful to see this thread…started stims today 😬

How are you feeling?

So had my egg collection (was incredibly nervous but literally was asleep and felt nothing!) and was a bit down to only get 6 eggs.
However just had a call from the embryologists to say all 6 have fertilised! So happy 🤩

Fresh transfer booked for Wednesday unless we hear otherwise... more waiting begins...

camelinastorm · 24/01/2026 16:06

@Lovelesslily wow that’s amazing news what a great fertilisation rate !!!

FairislePatterned · 24/01/2026 17:28

Good luck for Wednesday @Lovelesslily!

I have my first scan after down reg on Monday and think I’ll be starting stims after that. Bit nervous about side effects. How are you feeling @OneGladOtter?
good luck on your journey @MyLau! It’s my first cycle too so don’t have any useful knowledge re follicles to offer I’m afraid!

Waitingforday6 · 24/01/2026 18:04

Good luck everyone!!! @MyLau I grew a lot more follicles after my first scan which was 'small but on track' 🙂

MyLau · 25/01/2026 15:03

So i had my day 6 scan today, she can only see 5 folicules growing right now. That's really less than expected, but lets stay hopefull they are strong 😅

Dollylou · 26/01/2026 15:38

Hey! I was hoping to find a thread like this, I’m day 5 of stims and had my monitoring scan this morning, we have 8 follicles growing at the same rate and few others a little smaller! It’s nice to find people going through the same thing 😊

MyLau · 29/01/2026 16:30

Day 10 scan, 7 follicles, 5 could have make it to the egg retrival, but right now only 1 is big enough :( we will see at day 12, might be canceled or change for an insemination on monday

FairislePatterned · 29/01/2026 17:51

Sounds stressful @MyLau, so will you have another scan on Saturday? Will they do an egg retrieval on the same day? Wishing you all the best.

I’m on day 4 of stims and next scan on Wednesday, hopefully egg retrieval next Friday if it looks ok.

wishing you luck as well, @Dollylouis it your first round? (It is my first).

Lovelesslily · 29/01/2026 18:53

Hey all - had my embryo transfer yesterday with a 4BB embryo. We also got 2 others to be frozen so feeling a little hopeful that we have 3 chances from only 6 eggs retrieved 🤞

Already symptom spotting like mad! In the last hour started getting sharp pulling feelings but not sure if it's too soon to be anything. This TWW is going to be so hard!

I have another scan saturday, if there's more than 3 follicules with good dimensions, i'll have the egg retrival on Monday. If not, either canceled or insemination on Monday also.

FairislePatterned · 30/01/2026 18:50

Best wishes for your scan tomorrow @MyLau

Hope everyone is doing ok. I’ve found this week tough with side effects, nausea, headaches and dizziness amongst other delights.

Sorry to ear that. I didn’t experience many side effects from the stims, but I also didn’t have a great response to them so..

You're on day 5 ? Best wishes to you too !

FairislePatterned · 30/01/2026 20:31

I find it hard so get my head round how it all works. It’s just- a lot. Wondering if things are working or not. I think my ignorance about it all is sort of protecting me as it’s my first time?

Yes, I’m on day 5 of stims after two weeks of down reg. I’ve had two gynae surgeries in the last year so I’m worried my system may just be a bit fragile/overreacting, but who knows. We’ve got to just take one day as it comes.

Sandra00 · 31/01/2026 16:36

Good luck with all your cycles! I got 9 eggs out.. 8 fertilised. I also had some in the freezer which I’ve added to the batch - 7 fertilised. Hoping for as many embryos as possible at day 5 but let’s see as I’ve put all my eggs in one basket now so let’s hope this pays off! Sending baby dust to you all!

MyLau · 02/02/2026 15:23

So a little update, saturday on day 12, i had 8 follicles total but again, only one ready. But they continue growing, so we extended to day 14 (today). Yesterday i was really sick but i don't think it's related, i must have eaten something bad. On the scan today, same thing, only one ready but there a few almost there. So we will extend to day 15 or 16 depending on the blood test. I didn't know it was possible to grow them that long 😅

FairislePatterned · 02/02/2026 18:32

That’s great @Sandra00fingers crossed.

Thank you for the update @MyLau- best of luck for everything!

MyLau · 03/02/2026 14:41

The blood test came back with lower numbers than saturday, so they decide to try a retreival tomorrow, with a scan before to see where we at. I already took the trigger shots yesterday. I would like to know about your experience. Thanks

Hey!! Sorry I’ve been in a bit of a blur…. It really is a full time job with injections isn’t it. I’ve been lucky to have some time off work and really felt i needed it. Stims were so much easier than I thought…for anyone reading I would definetly say your mind anxiety is so much worse than the physical doing. I’m going good thank you lily has egg collection today! Omg 6//6 that is bloody amazing quality! You must be so proud of your body!

Totally with you there it is ALOT! I think the not knowing until each scan is really hard because your just analysing a million what ifs?

Experience with retrieval?

Experience with retrieval?

Yes

OneGladOtter · 03/02/2026 21:33

MyLau · 03/02/2026 18:39

Yes

i had a little anxiety the night before mainly about the IV not the procedure itself, kind of worked myself up about it but I woke up ready to go.
Went in and they check your vitals- temp, blood pressure. I had my own room which was a comfort. Nurses were lovely and checked I was ok and if I had any questions- you don’t feel rushed or left. I then gowned up and did wait to my exact time to be taken through, They then take you through to the operating room- my partner came with. There was 4 people on the room. Nurse completing egg collection, embryologist, anethesist and a second nurse they confirm your age date of birth and your partners to cross check everything and once happy my partner left.

IV is fitted- in my hand. It didn’t hurt (you can ask to be distracted) literally over in seconds and I read to count to 3 and it’s done! That worked!

once ready they inject the IV- it’s not another needle but I did feel it going down my arm- like a hot pressure- this concerned me and I asked if that was normal- but then that’s all I remember. Next thing I was in the room awake drinking tea.

it’s super quick, I recovered from the IV pretty quickly and didn’t feel any pain coming out.
I think the biggest thing to remember is you’re not in control they will guide you through every step you just have to show up! There was 3 people before me and I heard them leaving all fine- they do this alot! You will be back home before you no it- you have got this!!! Good luck!

FairislePatterned · 03/02/2026 21:41

@OneGladOtterthats such a useful description of the process for the egg retrieval- thank you! Hope you’re feeling ok after it now. Best wishes for it all.
