Strawberrryfields · 01/01/2026 19:59

Eek funny how one day can make such a difference now it’s baby year! Happy new year everyone 🥳

lemons44 · 03/01/2026 10:49

How is everyone doing?

I have back to work blues for Monday 😭 but sticking to my guns and going to push back on any stress and only do my working hours so I still get plenty of rest.

I’ve been added to my NCT WhatsApp chat today as we start classes on Wednesday. I’m excited 😀

confused2025 · 03/01/2026 15:39

@lemons44you will be on mat leave on no time ☺️. I had a baby care class with hubby today and he really enjoyed it. He couldn’t make my antenatal class so booked this - it was free (baby academy uk). Would def recommend it x

Orangewillow · 03/01/2026 22:36

I really can't be bothered to go back to work after Christmas! I'm on countdown to mat leave at the end of January though, not long now and feeling nervous

Same 😫 7 weeks of work left for me, I’m counting every day lol

Has anyone been told when they will be taken in (if you don’t go naturally)? A few people have mentioned to me that IVF pregnancies aren’t normally left to run on, but my consultant hasn’t said anything about planning an induction or that, wondering if I should bring it up at my appointment next week?!

confused2025 · 04/01/2026 18:27

@KayEmmSquared I was told by my consultant that IVF pregnancies wouldn’t generally go over 40 weeks and that they had a pref for between 38-40. I would def ask them

KayEmmSquared · 04/01/2026 18:43

Thanks @confused2025 that’s what a few people have said to me but none of those people have been IVF pregnancies so I didn’t know how much stock to give it, I’ll definitely ask next week when I see my consultant.

lemons44 · 04/01/2026 20:20

@confused2025@KayEmmSquared I’m curious who has spoken to you about birth and when? My midwife hasn’t said anything to me about birth AT ALL. I keep wondering when the conversation will take place…
I’m 29 weeks x

confused2025 · 04/01/2026 20:29

@lemons44no one has gone into a lot of detail with me - we have just discussed preference briefly - which would be a vaginal birth but if it’s safer to do a c section then it’s our plan b. I am 34 weeks today and my next appointment will be 36 weeks so I assume they go into more detail here?

KayEmmSquared · 04/01/2026 20:58

@lemons44 my midwife briefly mentioned it at my booking appointment at 12weeks but it was literally in passing, since then a few friends have said it but no one with actual authority so I don’t know what to believe! Would be good to know soon but so I can start planning. If @confused2025 hasn’t been told anything by 34weeks then I think I’ll have a wait to go, but I’ll bring it up with my consultant next week and see what she says.

lemons44 · 04/01/2026 21:06

Thanks both @KayEmmSquared @confused2025 keep me updated. For some reason I assumed it would be like the movies where they walk you round the hospital to see the rooms etc 🤣 quite a few people have now asked me about my birth plan and I have no idea what to say as I don’t even know what the pain relief options are so I’m hoping at some point the midwife talks about it. I wonder if the plan is written down on our files so when we go into labour they know what we want?

So far I am thinking plan is not to have a huge plan and just go with the flow but my preference is also vaginal birth if possible, although I would like to know my pain management options. However one thing I keep seeing on Facebook reels is about delayed cord cutting and its benefits so I want to look into that more.

Orangewillow · 04/01/2026 21:40

@kayemmsquared I saw a consultant a few days ago who brought up induction after 40 weeks and said that's what they'd think for an IVF pregnancy, but I said I'm generally reluctant to be induced and she said maybe consider at 41 weeks, wasn't pushy about it

magpie234 · 04/01/2026 22:15

Not had the birth chat yet but am only 23. Pretty sure I am going to request a c-section though for personal preference (at least over induction for me).

Orangewillow · 04/01/2026 22:42

My last midwife appointment was about 3 weeks ago (34 weeks now) and she told me to get birth plan written down, and hospital bag packed! Have done neither yet haha, but have booked a doula and am working on a birth plan with her, basically to say if I want midwife led/labour ward, what kind of pain relief I'd like, pool and all that. Basically if you really want or don't want something, gave it written down so your birth partner/medical team can know what you want if you're not in the best position to communicate yourself! Midwife did say that it's an indication not a plan that will necessarily be followed, like I'm very keen to avoid instruments amd will note tbat, but they won't do that unless it's needed anyway so plan might go out the window

confused2025 · 05/01/2026 05:57

@Orangewillow yes they’ve mentioned writing in the birth plan a lot in antenatal class- my husband has requested not to cut the cord as he can’t deal with blood 🤣 I need to do a little more reading on pain relief too @lemons44 I think this is a US thing just as it’s so expensive to give birth there and imagine there are different price point options

FlatWhiteAnyone · 05/01/2026 12:33

Hi ladies, those who didn’t pass glucose test, what is the treatment/monitoring plan in place?
Today had my glucose stress test, first fasting result was 5.2 when their threshold is 5.1. Two other results after the glucose drink were fully fine. Now waiting for the specialist appointment..
I didn’t have it before but this pregnancy I am over 40, also my mum has type II diabetes. I did have a few fasting sugar level blood tests at 20w and before, all were good. Yeah maybe eating this holiday season didn’t help 😟 Also they did say baby is big too

confused2025 · 05/01/2026 12:38

@FlatWhiteAnyonewe are GD twins - you’re not alone
basically I had to attend a class, was given a monitor where I have to check my bloods 4 times a day and put it into an app. Once before breakfast, 1 after breakfast, 1 after lunch and 1 after dinner (an hour after meal) and they monitor this. From what I understand they are a little more concerned with the first reading from overnight. Mine were slightly elevated last week so have a call with the doctor tomorrow, but they’re back to normal now. Food wise, I wasn’t eating many treats but my vice is potato and I think this caused the issue last week with being in in-laws. I had to get tested originally as baby was measuring big but on two additional scans after this, baby was at 79th percentile. I got diagnosed at 32 weeks and 34 weeks now.

confused2025 · 05/01/2026 12:39

@FlatWhiteAnyoneim also part of the 40s club

FlatWhiteAnyone · 05/01/2026 13:05

@confused2025thank you for this info!! Yay two clubs twins 🙃, well wish GD was not the one.
I think Xmas mince pies and panettone didn’t help 🫣
