IVF April 2025

waitingforourmiracle · 07/03/2025 11:15

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

Edited

Heres hoping - although given my age and circumstances - im just hoping a pgta normal embryo or 2 but who knows

Nice that we are the same day

Im 38 - are you younger? Or similar? Or older ?
Is it your first ec ?

Bon chance

When dya do your trigger shot - tonight ?

FancyGoose · 26/04/2025 18:40

@worldwidetravel2017 its my fourth egg collection. First and second one I got 10 eggs and 2 blastocysts each time and had 1 missed miscarriage, one chemical and two BFNs. Third egg collection we got 20 eggs but none of them fertilised at all so it was all over within 24 hours 😭. We're PGTA testing this time too (if we get anything, that is!). Really anxious that we won't get any euploids given our history. I'm 34. Our main issue is thought to be male factor although I am worried my eggs are a bit shit too. Have you had previous egg collections? Yep trigger tonight at 10.45 (I'm usually in bed by then 🤣).

Nah - this is my first egg coll

My consultant has estimated we may get 2 or 3 embryos to pgta test but who knows if thats what will happen

My trigger is in 50 mins eek

My mate told me the daily blood thinner injections im on - hurt more than the trigger tho

worldwidetravel2017 · 26/04/2025 19:38

Does your OH take wellman max or such ?
Thats what ivf clinic recommended to my oh

FancyGoose · 26/04/2025 19:53

@worldwidetravel2017 he takes impryl which we had recommended by clinic and urologist. And we had an embolism for a varicocele in December so fingers crossed that might have made a positive difference 🙏 yeah I'm guessing the most we should hope for is around the same number for testing considering our previous cycles but who knows! At this point, just hoping we get some fertilisation - was absolutely devastating getting that call last time, especially as it was so unexpected given we'd had okay fertilisation with our previous two rounds. Good luck with the trigger and egg collection - I am looking forward to the amazing sedation sleep 🤣 and let us know how you get on!!

I read somewhere - that people either go into egg coll emotional or giddy

Dunno if i read it here or somewhere else

Anyway - today - i feel happy and relieved

No bruserlin today
No meriofert today

Just blood thinner

Egg coll = first thing tomorrow

Egg coll = day zero

Then eek re updates..

Theyll talk to us about my eggs and partner sperm tomorrow

I just hope we get some embryos that get to pgta testing
And then i hope we get a couple of pgta normal embryos

Fingers crossed.

Hows everyone?
Sunshine here

TamanNegara · 27/04/2025 14:21

@FancyGoose and @worldwidetravel2017

Fingers crossed for collection tomorrow!

They've moved mine forwards to tomorrow as well. It's my first one, so not sure what to expect exactly. I'm sort of calmly numb atm, it's all a bit surreal in a way.

Sunshine here too, so that's nice.

My first too

Are you having conscious sedation?

FancyGoose · 27/04/2025 16:55

@TamanNegara ah no way, all the best for tomorrow too! Hopefully we all have decent results 🙏 I'm anxious about the afterwards of the collection and paranoid we will have another total fertilisation failure but the actual procedure itself I'm relaxed about. It's been fine all my previous times and I have just found it a really nice sleep haha and haven't felt too awful after either. Hopefully you both find it similarly easy/relaxed @worldwidetravel2017. And it is nice getting to stop the stims!

TamanNegara · 27/04/2025 21:13

Thanks for the reassurance @FancyGoose!

Yes, this week is going to be weird. It's the unpredictableness (is that a word?!) that's so odd, isn't it? Wishing you all the best.

I've had sedation before for something else and rather enjoyed it, especially feeling so chilled afterwards for the rest of the day. Shame they can't mildly sedate us for the next five days afterwards!

I've washed my dressing gown so it smells lovely and got some new fluffy slippers especially for comfort afterwards. A friend of mine who's been through it before said it's a bit of a thing that people have a takeaway or something afterwards after all the healthy eating we've been doing (and before getting back to it the next day). I am not on fertility boards apart from here so don't know about that but am tempted!

Miraclemuma03 · 27/04/2025 23:31

Good luck everyone for egg retrievals. I hope they go well and have lots of beautiful fertilisation.

Was about to ask the same!

I'm still dozy from the sedation.

Only three eggs collected in the end.
Had a little cry and then got on with coping.

Glad its sunshine today.

How are you getting on?

TamanNegara · 28/04/2025 14:05

Thanks 😊

Wishing quality eggs for you! And for the next five days developments.

Feels bizarre that it all happens away from us for a bit.

waitingforourmiracle · 28/04/2025 14:13

Hope everyone is doing okay after collections and enjoying your afternoons in the sun!
@TamanNegara hope your feeling better, fingers crossed for the next few days!

18

( but i have pcos and suspected endo or ademoysis etc )

Ultimately my meriofert was a low dose to try & minimise ohss

Im also old in fertility terms - we dunno yet how many eggs are bad qual

And ace re your pgta testing

Timetotryagain · 28/04/2025 14:28

Great number :D :D @worldwidetravel2017
I got 11, 9 mature , 7 fertilised, 6 blasts and 1 pgt normal (but we are screening out a condition from our embryos and 4 of the embryos were affected by the condition and 1 by a randon chromosome error so its not the average fertility journey)

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/04/2025 14:35

My body has its own manual so its very wait &see

Glad u got a normal embryo

Hows everyone ?

Had my egg retrieval today. Got 15 eggs but the consultant said it was tricky and they struggled with one of the ovaries so had to move to a double lumen needle and flush the ovaries on the other side to try and get more out of it (not 100% sure what all of this means tbh though!) - she also warned that she's not sure how many of those will be mature. I've also been given clexane for the next 10 days and fyremdal for the next 5 days which is new to me for post retrieval (we're doing a freeze all so not needed ahead of transfer) as they said my estrogen was really high.

@TamanNegara I know everyone says it but it really is quality over quantity. I got 20 eggs in my last cycle but total fertilisation failure so the numbers are definitely not the be all and end all. My previous two cycles where I had 10 eggs, I got two blasts each time (unfortunately none resulted in a live birth but shows that more doesn't always equal better).

@Timetotryagain great news you have a normal embryo to transfer. How long did the results take to come back?
