Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

@Hopesforamiracle sorry you didn't get the results you hoped for, I know the feeling from my first round, how was your partners SA? Is there any issues there? It was out biggest factor last time!

@camelinastorm that's exciting you have a provisional date, is your estragon patches or tablets?

@waitingforourmiracle I am on tablets 2 a day for 2 days then 3 for 3 days then 4 until transfer, it should go ahead I've never had an issue with lining, we are full male factor secondary infertility after trauma, I always get good eggs and a very high percentage make it to day 5, implant and unfortunately lead to chemical or very early miscarriage they think it's definitely a sperm issue but test are just so far behind for males I've found

@worldwidetravel2017I am 31 so they didn’t seem to think egg quality would be an issue… seems it is though sadly!

Were you put on metformin for your pcos?

Also @Hopesforamiracle - have you ever had endo ruled out / checked?

Ask nhs gp for ca125 test (?)

Mine was consistently abnormal

For a number of reasons - they think i have endo or ademoysis

@waitingforourmiracle well this is where I am a big confused. They said his sperm looked good no issues etc but they can’t tell DNA fragmentation can they from just the sample.? They said it was my eggs and that the embryos just arrested at day 2/3… I mean i currently have this one in and one early blast in the freezer but I think it will be a lot of diet and stress reduction etc for 3 months before another retrieval!

@Hopesforamiracle DNA frag needs to be done as a separate test I believe, we never had this tested but my partner did have a varicocele embellishment done which can lead to improved DNA frag so I believe that may have been the biggest factor! I really hope this one sticks for you!! Everything crossed x

@Hopesforamiracle we have DNA fragmentation I'm sure it was part of his series of test but they were done privately in the UK and then again overseas I don't remember what clinic did this test, they really need to up the male testing during IVF I think

@waitingforourmiracle Thank you! Scan all went well, lining looks good so will start on the progesterone and blood thinner from Saturday. ET booked for 12pm on Thursday

@camelinastorm ahh, we're on super similar timelines. i know what you mean, it feels like perpetual waiting to get going and now it feels like it's happening super quickly.

I'm trying to decide whether to take some sick leave from work (it's quite a stressful job) after the transfer. Luckily it's the bank holiday weekend straight after, but I'm thinking about taking another week or so off just to get me to OTD (and perhaps a day or two beyond so I can deal with a potentially unsuccessful outcome). Has anyone else decided how they'll deal with things post transfer?

Hi @Hopesforamiracle - I am so sorry to hear - I actually had similar results for my first round 17 eggs which we were so happy with but then only 5 fertilised, 4 abnormal, one made a go of it but disintegrated before day 3. They also cited poor egg quality. It was so devastating I can't tell you. I'm happy you have some to work with though and I hope you get the result you want!!!

I would suggest if you do do another retrieval to ask your consultant about Calcium Ionophore - was a game changer for us in the second round, 5 fertilised normally and 3 made it to blast ❤

@Chickenqueenwhat did you do differently for your second round? And what results did you get for the second round?

Round 1 - 17 eggs, 11 mature, 4 abnormal fertilised, 1 normal - 0 embryos

Round 2 - 15 eggs, 10 mature, 5 fertilised normally - 3 blasts - the lab added calcium ionophere

@Chickenqueeni had a very similar round. 21 eggs, 11 mature, 3 fertilised. 0 blasts.
have you had another go?

@lovelivelaugh64 went again and have 2 blasts now, we did get 3 but 1 had the genetic mutation we were screening for.

Sorry to hear about your results, its just awful to come out of a whole round with nothing but there is hope!!

@Chickenqueen two is wonderful. How long after did you go again? and what did you do different compared to your first round?

@lovelivelaugh64 I went very quickly after, as soon as I had my 2nd period I was back on Norethisterone! Biggest change was the consultant adding Calcium Ionophore (also known as Artificial Oocyte Activation).. My husband and I also started Impyryl and I started acupuncture. I was also a lot more relaxed with the injections ect.

@Chickenqueen im not sure if I can take going again so soon. It was awful going through everything and having nothing. Plus my clinic said that if we did it again the outcome will be the same as they can’t control egg quality. What would you recommend I do? Your story has now given me hope

@lovelivelaugh64 I totally sympathise, I think you have to listen to your body and how you feel. It’s such a huge and painful thing to go through emotionally and physically and I can see why you would want to wait, regather your strength and go again. In retrospect maybe I should have done that tbh but my way of coping with the pain was to jump straight back in. We also took up the offer of free counselling at our clinic which I found so so helpful. I think there is no right or wrong and waiting a few months won’t hurt anything. Not sure if you have had your wash up appointment yet but I found it reassuring, the consultant wasn’t concerned and said often round 1 is diagnostic and also every batch of eggs for every round is different. So got the second beta back. Not quite doublied
so now I’m freaking out a bit. My first one was at 10dp5dt 131 and this one 12dp4st 243.3.
I just keep saying to myself there’s no way I could have a 4th miscarriage but here we are.

It’s still going up lovely stay positive 💫💫💫 I’m out the game this time 😭looks like a chemical got my beta tested and just 5 🙁just waiting for the bleed then I have to test negative before talking about next steps . xx

@Alexm06 it's not far off so hopefully it continues! What have the clinic said will you get a 3rd blood test?

Hi ladies, I've been keeping track of where you're all up to...what a ride this all is😥Just wondering if anyone is at a similar point to me, I'm 2dp5dt today and my mood is yo-yoing like nothing I've ever known. One minute I am convinced it's worked and the next I'm telling myself not to be so stupid. I am not going to test early as I don't think I will cope well with the added anxiety so next Sunday seems a long long way away x

Hi all, joining the thread at a late stage!
I'm undergoing IVF as a single woman, this is my first round.
Having egg collection next week. Unfortunately at the last scan I only had 8 follicles developing (apparently in line with AMH of 6.9). So I'm keeping everything crossed I will be lucky with the egg quality.

@Familyfirst12 congratulations on being pupo! It really is a wild ride. I hope the 2ww isn't too dragged out for you. I have everything xd for you.

@TamanNegara 8 follicles is still a good number and sometimes when they go in to retrieve they find more. Hopefully it's great quality over quantity.
