IVF April 2025

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

All getting so real for so many.
I was told I only had 3 follicles last cycle and got 5 eggs. Sadly only 2 viable but remember it IS all about quality at the end of the day.

This time is about the same its looking but doc says it will never really increase. I'm 36 so sad I don't have many follicles.

My egg retrieval is tomorrow so fingers crossed.

I'm getting excited/nervous.
After so many failures it's difficult to know how to feel

I have my scan tomorrow to see how stims performed. I have low amh and low afc so im not really confident on how many follicles will be seen. But im just trusting the process and really believing it only takes one.

Oh bless you. I don’t know what that means, my clinic doesn’t do bloods they just off ultrasounds. Surely if you have a decent number of follicles then it’s ok?

@Twofromanotherkind my bloating had gone by the following morning but I guess it’s different for everyone. Hope you get the news you want at your scan today 🤞

@Miraclemuma03 that does sound stressful and confusing. I hope you get some clarity on it tomorrow.

So back from EC and actually got 4 follicles rather than 3 so I guess that’s a positive. The conscious sedation wasn’t actually that bad. Felt a bit sick on the way home now. Now it’s bed rest for me haha

@Miraclemuma03hope your trigger isn’t too bad. What one are you using. I used Ovitrelle and it was actually pretty easy

@Alexm06that’s great news. How many follicles were seen on your scan?
im dreading tomorrow but also slightly hopeful that it only takes one egg.
a lot of the discussions I’ve read have mentioned only collecting 3 eggs which is what im expecting too, but its the “will they make it to day 5” that worries me.

@lovelivelaugh64yeah there was only 3 on my scan but somehow found another one haha.
yeah that’s my worry now. The doctor seemed quite positive about it but yeah guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how many were mature and fertilised

@Alexm06how many days do they watch the embryo before they do egg transfer?

@lovelivelaugh645 days so hopefully will be transferring something on Saturday. Haven’t mentioned anything about a day 3 transfer.

How many days of stims did you do? @Alexm06

@lovelivelaugh64i did 9 days of stims. Wednesday to Friday the following week

Thank you. Good news my follicles have grown a lot over the weekend so doing trigger injection tonight and egg collection Wednesday yay!

We had our day 5 update yesterday and I'm still in complete shock! Our first round we went from 21 eggs to 1 poor graded embryo, this time we went from 20 eggs to have 10 embryos frozen!! I can't believe it, we're feeling incredibly lucky, still waiting to get all the grades but was told they were strong embryos, we're over the moon, I know not everyone's journey hasn't gone this way so by no means do I mean to sound insensitive, I'm rooting for every single one you! ❤

@waitingforourmiraclethatss amazing!! Really happy for you. What did you change around second time round that helped do you think? What advice and tips would you give?

@lovelivelaugh64 I think the biggest factor was my boyfriend had a varicocele embellishment procedure done in September, he did also cut out alcohol since Christmas (had one weekend on a stag do) and took Impryl everyday, I took Vitamin D, folic acid, coq-10 and Vitamin B12 and we've both been going to the gym. I also felt alot more relaxed about this round, I think maybe because I started so quickly I wasn't able to work myself up about it before hand! X

I'm so incredibly proud of myself. I GAVE MYSELF MY TRIGGER!!! no hesitations last night, I just did it. I wanted to share my little achievement on this journey.

@Miraclemuma03thats amazing! What brand trigger did you give & dose? And how was it? Im due my trigger all being well this week

I was given ovidrel 250. It bled a bit but so did my antagonist with each shot.

So got the call! all 4 of my eggs were mature and 3 have fertilised. Transfers booked in for Saturday morning but I won’t hear anything now unless on Saturday they don’t have anything to transfer.
