Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

@monicabella1234 best of luck!!!

roowoop · 07/01/2025 15:07

oooo all the best of luck for those that have had their transfers! eek!

Mine is roundabout Wednesday next week with my lining scan tomorrow.

Just been invited to a baby shower for March and have that awful gutting feeling that Im sure you can all relate to!πŸ˜…

Sherr33 · 07/01/2025 15:16

Good luck to those having transfers.
I've had a failed fresh and failed frozen. This is my 2nd FET. Lining scan tomorrow and then if all is well potential transfer next week. I've been on patches and blood thinners since 28th of December (I think) and started my 5mg prednisolone yesterday (which has been freaking me out. And il freak out again when I have to increase to 10mg on Friday!) And then I'll be adding aspirin 75mg day if transfer. So a different concoction this time. Hoping something helps πŸ™Œ

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 07/01/2025 15:24

Hi everyone, hoping I can jump on too. I am currently taking estrogen and have my first lining scan on Friday. This is my second FET, first was successful but ended in a full term stillbirth so feeling extremely apprehensive.

Hope everyone is feeling ok x

YellowTack · 07/01/2025 15:50

@Daniki after everything that happened last year I am not feeling too optimistic but at least we are getting the ball rolling again. I feel frustrated to have β€œwasted” almost 6 months. At least I am less nervous about the IVF cycle this time because I know what to expect.
Thank you for recommending NMN powder, I will definitely look into that!

How are you feeling about your FET?

Daniki · 07/01/2025 17:32

@YellowTack I'm excited about it but of course nervous that it will fail or il miscarry again. But what can we do only have hope? Got the consent forms today and my prescription to collect in the chemist, just waiting on the bleed! Prob delayed because my body knows I'm dying to start πŸ˜‚What's the timeline with your new cycle then?

@Hopefullyonedaysoon oh im sorry to read about your loss that's awful! I can imagine how anxious this must be so best of luck 🀞🏻

@Sherr33 I wouldn't worry about the steroids, low risk. When I was pregnant with my son I had a really bad flare of my UC so I was in hosp at 9 weeks, ended up having surgery to get a stoma bag and was on steroids throughout my whole pregnancy. Not a thing wrong with him and I was on 20 mg my whole pregnancy and even high in hospital πŸ₯°

SamVan · 07/01/2025 17:37

@roowoop good luck with your scan! Baby showers are kinda boring at the best of times but definitely unpleasant when you’re going through infertility. I went to a couple earlier this year then avoided the rest.

@Hopefullyonedaysoon I’m so sorry for your previous loss. It’s totally normal to be apprehensive. Wishing you the best of luck with this round.

Cosyseason1234 · 07/01/2025 18:33

@SamVan @monicabella1234 PUPO! Glad everything went well for you both and got everything crossed 🀞

@Hopefullyonedaysoon so sorry to hear about your loss. My scan is Monday so we will be in the TWW together ☺️

@roowoop baby showers are painful at the best of times, defo make up a reasonable sounding excuse now and hopefully you will have morning sickness and fatigue and be unable to go πŸ˜‚

I was wide awake until 4am this morning, has anyone else experienced this?! Not sure if it was the meds or just general ivf anxiety 🀣

I'm so sorry to hear that. That must have been truly awful, I cannot imagine. I truly hope next time works for you but I absolutely understand how nerve racking it must be.

paintfairy · 07/01/2025 18:48

Good luck to everyone already pupo. Fingers firmly crossed.

I have to say I feel like I slight imposter. This will be my first FET and we only have one go. But I already have a little girl from my fresh transfer (she's 2) and so I don't think it's quite the same for me as most other people. It still feels as daunting and I'm just as stressed, but I know I'm very lucky to have what I've already got.

I will add that I did do the mcdonalds fries last time! 🀣 And acupuncture. No idea if it helps but I'm doing it again as I don't dare not.

SlinkMcSlink · 07/01/2025 19:09

@paintfairy That was such a nicely worded message.

Cosyseason1234 · 07/01/2025 21:00

@paintfairy not an imposter at all and you are very welcome 🌟

Thank you. 😊 I think it's hard doing it a second time as there's not many posts just for that. And I remember when I was doing it last time I used to think- well that's not the same. 🀣 Annoyed me even more when they claimed it was. Which is why I'm mindful of it i guess.
Anyway- still not heard from the clinic. Hold up being dozy husband didn't sign his consent form as he didn't realise he needed to. πŸ™„ He did it yesterday.
But medication arriving Friday.

Yea I can imagine! Its almost a nice reminder for us all to be mindful of each others journeys and no matter how different they are we are all in the same rubbish club together! πŸ˜…
Glad youre moving along now with the consents all good to go! I have forgotten how awful the waiting is!!

I had my scan this morning and all is good to go but awaiting a call from Kings with my transfer date. Now staring at my phone willing it to call hahah

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 08/01/2025 11:20

Thank you ladies, it has been a very very difficult year. It's nice to have some people who understand the IVF journey to go through it with this time. I tried explaining to my sister and she had this idea that you just say you want your transfer and they just book you in for a date for you to just pop along and have it done πŸ˜‚ if only it was that easy!

@roowoop I'm at kings too! Although no idea of transfer date yet, last time I was on estrogen for 24 days before transfer so was quite a while.

@Cosyseason1234 so nice to have someone else in the dreaded TWW

I think the anxiety is compounded by this being our last embryo, I can't have another retrieval after this due to severe complications last time that make it too risky

SlinkMcSlink · 08/01/2025 13:32

I’m still waiting to hear from the nurse/embryologist to say what day/time my base line scan will be next week and I’m getting very impatient too. Currently at home from work as had a funny turn yesterday in the loos. So embarrassing in front of work colleagues. Been to see my gp and vitals are okay but it’s the heaviest period I’ve ever had. It’s more than likely connected to the estrogen thickening the lining. It wasn’t like this last transfer though.

Hospitals are run off their feet as well at this time of year so starting to feel sorry for staff as well as myself. Where has my positivity gone? X

Had my scan today too all was well. Although I don't understand half of what I saw on screen. I'm booked in for transfer next week Monday.

Not sure how many are big on prayers but need all the good thoughts and prayers I can get πŸ™Œ

SamVan · 08/01/2025 14:22

Thanks @Cosyseason1234 ! And yes, not being able to sleep has plagued me each time after FET. Progesterone is meant to make you sleepy but it doens't for me. I suspect it's the stress.

Welcome @paintfairy! I hope you have a great outcome again and best of luck for this round! At least you know to repeat the same protocol as it worked well before.

@SlinkMcSlink sorry to hear you're having a weird period. This whole IVF thing has definitely turned my cycles upside down. I used to be regular before but now some months are painful as hell and some months, no pain.I hope you're feeling better soon.

Has anyone had bleeding right after FET before? I had some spotting on my undies when I got back from the clinic yesterday, then some mild cramping, and today i had a bit more spotting. I'm worried as I've never had this before and I hear bleeding is bad as it kills any embryos if its in the womb. It's too early for implantation cramps/spotting so I'm pretty sure that isn't what it is.

sorry to hear you had a funny turn at work! that is rubbish. i hope you have kind and understanding colleagues. you shouldn't feel embarrassed.

I was going to come back to you the other day to say I echoed how you felt over Christmas... hoping that it might happen naturally. I felt exactly the same.

I hope you have some things you can distract yourself with this week!

monicabella1234 · 08/01/2025 14:48

@SamVan I haven't had the FET before... but could the spotting be from the speculum / cervix activity? I also had a bit of spotting today when wiping.

I also had a bit of cramping yesterday.

How are you feeling? I got involved with those McDonalds chips and watched a good 6 episodes of Schitt's Creek.

Who else is due to have a transfer this week?

SamVan · 08/01/2025 14:55

@monicabella1234 How did the transfer go for you yesterday? All good I hope! Are you feeling positive about the transfer? Schitts creek is always a good shout. I also had the McDonalds chips haha! Just clutching at straws now. I also read a study about how being visited by a medical clown (yes really) after ivf appears to have a positive impact on pregnancy rates so I watched some of Ali Wong's show to get some laughs in. I also did power posing before the transfer because who the f knows what works anymore. At this point I would shave gold dust into my eyes if someone told me that would increase my chances!

Oh maybe spotting is normal then if you had it too! I didn't have any previously so I was confused by it.

I'm feeling good! I'm not feeling positive about the transfer, but I'm feeling happy and positive in general. What will be will be is my current thinking (but a descent into madness could happen at anytime). Are you doing anything fun to keep your mind off the TWW?

monicabella1234 · 08/01/2025 16:13

your message has made me chuckle! @SamVan what is power posing? I'm imagining the sort of thing body builders do at competitions... is that it?!

transfer went well, thank you. husband joined this time, the embryo had thawed out well and regained it's shape (is that the right way to describe that?). good shout on Ali Wong - did you watch Beef?

LY I spotted with my CP, that was the only time I've had it, and it was on the day I was due to get my period, and then stopped. You know your body and so anything different will register with you! Hopefully it is a good sign.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling positive - how come? Although I felt like that with our first one. We transferred fresh embryo in Nov, and then the day after, the clinic rang us to say one of our tiny tiny blasts had made really good progress, and on day 6 it was frozen. We'd gone into that transfer thinking we wouldn't have any frozen, so I'm really holding out some hope for this one.

We've booked 1 night in a small coaching inn, in a village near us - just to get out of the house on the weekend. Apart from that trying to throw myself into work a bit. What about you? Our OTD is 16th.

roowoop · 08/01/2025 16:23

@Hopefullyonedaysoon If only it was that easy indeed! All fingers crossed for you

@SlinkMcSlink absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about! I hope you feel better soon

@Sherr33 Yay scan twins! Sending lots and lots of good thoughts your way!

@SamVan I had some a couple days of spotting my last fresh transfer. mmc at 10 weeks but seems like its relatively normal

My transfer is on Sunday. So so giddy for it!
What will be will be is exactly how I'm choosing to look at it...but I will also see about a medical clown nonetheless ahhahaha

SamVan · 08/01/2025 16:44

@monicabella1234 Power posing is just standing in a powerful position (hands on hips, or behind head etc). It's based on studies by Amy Cuddy (there's a ted talk) on it causing people to feel more confident before high stakes social interactions like interviews which, i suppose, an ET sort of is.

I'm glad you had a good transfer and are feeling positive! I am crossing all fingers for you. I don't feel positive because it hasn't worked yet with better graded embryos (so I'm convinced my husband and I just don't make good embryos) and I have a cold, a yeast infection and I had bad pgta results from this round so I feel like it's just a bad crop this time. I am transferring an inconclusive embryo this time as I decided not to retest it. So all in all I just feel like my chances aren't good. But who knows some people with way worse stats have gotten pregnant so why not me?

Your weekend trip sounds ideal! Good to get away for a bit. And your test day is quite early too so it won't be too long a wait. I'll be going to visit my family next week. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone but also not keen on batting away all the "when are you going to have kids?" "you're not getting any younger" "there's no best time" etc comments.

Good luck for Sunday @roowoop ! The medical clown paper is The effect of medical clowning on pregnancy rates after in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer - PubMed maybe bring some face paint and a red nose for your consultant to wear?

The effect of medical clowning on pregnancy rates after in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer - PubMed
