Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

@SamVan I had a cold when it worked for me and part of me decided that maybe my immune system being lower was the key! 🀣 Who knows though. This is my first frozen so it's a whole new ball game, I've no idea how things will go.

First scan is booked for Tuesday though. I reckon transfer will be Thursday the following week, if all goes well.

Mseddy · 08/01/2025 17:26

@paintfairy I have a 3 year old DD too and I know what you mean about feeling a bit of a fraud! This transfer will be my 4th. Managed to get DD on my first FET after a BFN and a miscarriage with both my fresh transfers. I have a friend who is about to go through it all for the first time and she is doing it solo, if only one of us can get pregnant from this id rather it was her than me, because my miracle is sitting next to me. It's a weird feeling! I'm obviously desperate for a second, but it's nothing like the feelings I had when I was trying for my DD. Although let's see how I feel if I get a BFN!

SlinkMcSlink · 08/01/2025 17:47

Aww @SamVan I wish I could say something to make you feel positive but it’s so hard once you get in that frame of mind. Got to hold onto hope.

Daniki · 08/01/2025 18:06

@SamVan I had small bit of spotting after transfer last year and it was successful. So fingers crossed.

I'm now 2 days later for AF, it was due Monday and still no sign! Getting really annoyed as want to get started on meds have all picked up, consents signed so just waiting on it to show 🫣 made my husband buy pregnancy tests just incase but of course negative, that would of been a miracle!

SamVan · 08/01/2025 19:58

@paintfairy Thanks! That makes me hopeful it might be a good sign. I think frozen is similar to fresh transfers in terms of protocol. Are you doing a fully medicated transfer?

@SlinkMcSlink I think I'm just guarding my heart as well. It's disappointing having two failures so close together.

@Daniki Thanks, that's good to know. It is so frustrating when the periods don't start on time!! I hope it comes so you can get started on your round soon. The waiting and uncertainty is definitely the worst part of IVF.

Daniki · 08/01/2025 20:06

@SamVan yep! Hopefully will arrive in the morning. On previous thread I was on there was a few women who had success with the lesser graded embryos, and iv read a lot of success stories on a fb page I'm on too so try and keep positive πŸ₯°πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€

paintfairy · 08/01/2025 22:21

@SamVan no, natural! Which scares me a little.
@Mseddy Yes, it's really such a mixed feeling isn't it? We won't try again after this, as I'm too old really, and my husband won't spend money we just can't afford a fresh round. So I'm not sure how I'll feel if it's a BFN either. But I've already had one miracle, like you say, and actually when other people haven't, it really makes you grateful. But I'm glad I'm not the only one with one already. 😊

@monicabella1234 Power posing is just standing in a powerful position (hands on hips, or behind head etc). It's based on studies by Amy Cuddy (there's a ted talk) on it causing people to feel more confident before high stakes social interactions like interviews which, i suppose, an ET sort of is.

I'm glad you had a good transfer and are feeling positive! I am crossing all fingers for you. I don't feel positive because it hasn't worked yet with better graded embryos (so I'm convinced my husband and I just don't make good embryos) and I have a cold, a yeast infection and I had bad pgta results from this round so I feel like it's just a bad crop this time. I am transferring an inconclusive embryo this time as I decided not to retest it. So all in all I just feel like my chances aren't good. But who knows some people with way worse stats have gotten pregnant so why not me?

Your weekend trip sounds ideal! Good to get away for a bit. And your test day is quite early too so it won't be too long a wait. I'll be going to visit my family next week. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone but also not keen on batting away all the "when are you going to have kids?" "you're not getting any younger" "there's no best time" etc comments.

Good luck for Sunday @roowoop ! The medical clown paper is The effect of medical clowning on pregnancy rates after in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer - PubMed maybe bring some face paint and a red nose for your consultant to wear?

i will look up that ted talk - sounds really interesting!

how are you feeling today? that's a lot to have on your mind with this transfer, so i am sorry for that. i'm having a bit of a wobble today. i've come into the office, instead of being at home, so I can try and take mind off things.

be good for you to get away next week too - but i do understand those conversations.

can I ask how people have found their sleep with progesterone? i am struggling and wake up around 3am.

SamVan · 09/01/2025 19:36

@Daniki The grading for this isn't actually bad - it's a 5AB, it's just that I don't seem to make chromosomally normal embryos. Oh well, we'll see how it goes! Has your period started yet? Hope you can start your cycle soon.

@paintfairy My doctor says natural cycles are better to do where possible. Plus there's less medication and risk of having insufficient progesterone.

@monicabella1234 I feel fine today - no symptoms at all. How are you doing? Was going to the office helpful for you? I ordered some FRER ready for next week! I sleep badly after FET too.

Daniki · 09/01/2025 19:51

@SamVan oh that's a good grade, truly hope it works out for you. No period yet, ended up in docs today too as thought I had a kidney infection due to pains in side and nausea but only small rise in white blood cells so who knows. He gave me antibiotics but wait and see does it get worse. Got a migraine today which is a tell tale for period so hoping it means I'll have it in the morning!

Mseddy · 10/01/2025 08:12

@SamVan it sounds like you are going through it with your cold and infection! I've got everything crossed your embryo is a good one despite the inconclusive testing.

I've come overnight so today is officially day 1. My planned day 1 from my cycle planning was 14th though, I've come on two days early both of the last cycles. So need to ring the clinic today and see if they pull my transfer back or keep it as 31st.

How is everyone feeling? I'm really nervous to start. Total mixed emotions about being responsible for one of these embryos rather than keeping them safe in the freezer.

monicabella1234 · 10/01/2025 08:34

@SamVan ours is a 5bb, but we haven't tested or anything, so I'm not sure what is really going on in there.

yes office was good :) no symptoms for me either... day 3 right, so hopefully some rumblings from today onwards. crossing fingers for us!!! is your test date the 16th also?

Daniki · 10/01/2025 08:49

AF finally came! πŸ₯³ so weird to be happy about that given our journey πŸ˜‚ but 4 days late and just have that need to get started to (hopefully) be pregnant again. 🀞🏻

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 10/01/2025 12:16

Yay for everyone getting long awaited periods, never arrive on time when you're waiting for them.

@SamVan @Daniki sorry to hear you have both been feeling unwell and hope you both feel better.

So we had my lining scan today and all good, transfer booked for Friday 17th so feeling relieved to get to the next step but also terrified as it's very real again now

Daniki · 10/01/2025 12:24

@Hopefullyonedaysoon oh lovely next week! And the weekend to relax afterwards πŸ™Œ try and keep relaxed now over the week and not stress out too much, you've done all you can now so it's just wait and see πŸ₯°

Orangewillow · 10/01/2025 16:20

Just been for yet another scan, lining better but still not there yet so back on Monday... but I got the all clear on my smear test so thats another thing ticked off the list! I'm still not sure it will really go ahead, but clinic seem optimistic and saying progress is good so maybe it will happen before too long!

SamVan · 10/01/2025 19:06

@Daniki I’m so sorry you’re feeling unwell. The illnesses always hit at the worst time don’t they? Glad you’re able to start now though.

@monicabella1234 most clinics don’t recommend pgta (also depends on age) but due to our past chemical or a 4aa and worse results than they expected my doctor said it might be a good idea. No symptoms on my end. Do you have any? When I had my chemical my tummy felt very warm the whole time I was pregnant but it feels normal atm. My test date is the 17th but I’ll likely end up testing earlier. So hard to stop myself! Will you be testing early this round?

@Orangewillow what’s the thickness of your lining atm? I hope it gets up there by Monday. They’ll also check if it’s triple lined.

Daniki · 10/01/2025 19:20

Have a scan on the 21st for check lining and hoping transfer will be the following week, going by the last one! God I hope this month goes fast πŸ˜‚

Last time I had no symptoms at all with my postive, I tested early 4dp5dt and got really faint positive, will try my hardest to not test this time ( it I know myself lol)

Cosyseason1234 · 10/01/2025 19:31

Welcome to all the new people!
hope everyone is doing well, sorry for the silence work has been mad this week! I have a scan Monday and hoping for transfer late next week/early WC 20/01/2025.
For those who have had a previous medicated FET,what’s the normal amount of days of progesterone before transfer?

OP posts:
Hopefullyonedaysoon · 10/01/2025 21:19

@Cosyseason1234 if it's a day five embryo then usually 6 days of progesterone with the transfer on day 6

SlinkMcSlink · 10/01/2025 23:53

So good to see more people are getting scan dates, I had mine this morning. I have my base line scan on Thursday 16th January and all being well my transfer on Wednesday 22nd January. So I’ve been told to start progesterone on Friday 17th. That’s 5 days of progesterone.

Let’s hope they defrost well. Come on embryo number 2!

morning! was that a CP with a 4AA, did you mean? sorry to hear that ❀

no, well nothing really which I think can't be explained by the 3 x progesterone pessaries. I've had a bit of cramping, lower back pain (but have I pulled something lol), quite emotional. I did have a bad night sleep yesterday and had to get up to get some water, as my mouth was super dry which is extremely unusual but it was only 3DPT, and also I had mac and cheese for dinner (salt?), so I think all of these things can be explained away.

feeling a bit worried and fed up tho! I don't remember those warm tummy feelings you mention, but that was the cycle just before we started IVF, that we got naturally pregnant, and I'd given up hope, so it was surprise and wasn't looking out for anything.

I'm going to hold out till Thursday but that's only because my husband is a bit more patient than I am. You've got your FRER's right? Will you test when they come? I am crossing fingers for you.

paintfairy · 11/01/2025 16:27

@SlinkMcSlink I think I'll be on a very similar time line.
@monicabella1234 bar the lack of my usual mid cycle spotting, i had zero signs i was pregnant last time. So I'm not sure any of it means anything. 🀣

SamVan · 11/01/2025 21:42

@monicabella1234 yes that’s right. Sorry for the typo! Oof I’m sorry about the pessaries. They are so crap. TMI but my bum is sore from using it and I have the worst gas ever. your symptoms sound positive but it’s so hard to tell isn’t it?

what are you feeling worried and fed up about? I hope you’re feeling better today. If it’s just this process in general I totally feel you! It’s crap isn’t it? It’s the inability to plan that gets me the most. If I knew it would take 5 years, or never happpen, I’d just get on with life and be fine. But this limbo is the worst.

I do have my frers already but not sure when I’ll test. But it’ll likely be early as I need to confirm some flights which I won’t take if I’m pregnant!

Mseddy · 12/01/2025 10:08

Sorry you are feeling fed up @monicabella1234 this is such a hard process.

I started meds on Friday, I forgot how much energy they drain from me! I'm exhausted already 2 days in! Embryo transfer has been moved to 30th now. All seems to be coming round so quickly
