Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

@SlinkMcSlink is that with a private clinic or nhs?

Hello everyone,

I have finally started my first period after my MMC so it means I should be able to start treatment at my following period around mid-January. I honestly can’t wait!
We have decided to do another full cycle of IVF rather than using one of the 2 embryos that we have stored. I would love to bank a few more embryos because I have low AMH and I am not getting any younger.

I really don’t know if I should tell my (male) manager. I had to miss a lot of days this year for my first IVF cycle and my surgery for my MMC, and I managed to keep the reason secret, but I know that he will be very worried if I tell him I need time off for yet another procedure. I will need at least 1 day for EC plus a few half days for scans/transfer. I really don’t want to tell him, but at the same time I will need to say something and he will likely ask. I know I can trust him but at the same time we haven’t even told our parents so why should I tell my manager! I feel really conflicted.

Hi @YellowTack
I think if your workplace doesn’t grant fertility leave I would simply say you need time off for gynae investigations? They won’t ask you for further details.
I completely understand what you mean about not wanting to tell your manager what you are going through. I did because of the fertility leave, plus I found it took some of the stress off me because they were very understanding. It’s a very personal thing!

It's such a tricky one and will vary so much depending on your workplace and manager, but I found it really helpful to let some people at work know what was going on. Being off for several half days for appointments and full days for EC was much easier when my manager (and wider team but again very personal!) knew why. My work does have a fertility leave policy as well, which I wanted to use, and booking the time off enabled me to manage my workload slightly less stressfully!

Hi @monicabella1234 welcome! I am due to start on my next cycle but just waiting for it and also for the consultant to prescribe my meds πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I only need one drug for FET,did anyone use a normal pharmacy or even their GP to get these?

i am fhinking the clinic will charge will charge a large fee and if it’s only one drug I’d rather do it cheaper this time.

Thank you! Is that the Progynova? Are you private funding? We were concerned our delivery wouldn't make it in time for this week, so arranged with the clinic to pick up a small batch of this at the pharmacy, and then the rest of it will be delivered.

We paid Β£10 for the tablets to get started.

When is your cycle due to start? I am expecting it this week, Friday. Be good to know day 1, so then get the scans booked in, and start making some other plans to take mind off it!

Cosyseason1234 · 18/12/2024 11:05

@monicabella1234 thanks so much that’s really useful! It’s the estrogen,is that Progynova?
We are private funding which is why I’m abit annoyed that I haven’t heard anything despite various messages.
I am a control freak and want to have everything ready πŸ˜‚ my withdrawal bleed from EC was 02/12 and my periods are abit erratic so it could be anytime. I’ll be fuming if I miss the opportunity to go for this cycle. This Friday is exciting, hopefully I won’t be far behind you ☺️

@Cosyseason1234 does your clinic have an app/email address you can get in touch with them? Seems like they are leaving it a bit late! I'm due to start on my next cycle (only CD5 today so a little while away) and my clinic have already set my transfer day, ordered my drugs and I have a delivery date from the company. Id get in touch with them again if I was you. Fingers crossed they get it all done in time!

Yes, that's the one - I'm 3 tablets a day of that, from CD 1. And you?

Sorry to hear that, that is frustrating. I'm a similar mindset, but also didn't want to miss the opportunity of this cycle - so I think that is fair enough!

Great, keep us posted! I'm hoping it's Friday, rather than a slightly longer cycle, which will eat into being back at work properly.

Cosyseason1234 · 18/12/2024 17:15

Thanks @Mseddy and @monicabella1234
I called them after having 2 unanswered messages and they have finally sent me all the consent! I’m quite upset after being so stressed about it all week but hoping it’s sorted before the end of the week. Who knew this journey would be such a massive stress 😫

@Cosyseason1234 Nope! AF isn’t due until next weekend. Wishing time away. X

Elizabethj89 · 29/12/2024 11:31

I am due to start the journey of IVF around 11th Jan, waiting for my cycle. The meds are being delivered on the 8th in preparation. We have opted to go privately as it would have been a 3 year wait on the NHS, making it September 2025. It's already taken so many tests to get where we are now, and my AMH levels are on the lower side so don't want to wait any longer. I've opted for a fresh transfer, but read so many people are opting for frozen, is FET more popular?
We had genetic testing of ourselves before hand, and everything is fine. After all the testing, it's unexplained fertility issues. I have fell pregnant once, and had a MMC at 14 weeks (June 2024) Since then no luck, so we find ourselves on this journey.
I still feel pretty clueless about everything, hope that's somewhat normal, but I was hoping to find somewhere (mumsnet) that I can find advice during this journey.
I wish you all the best on your journeys and that they are successful 🀞🏻

Elizabethj89 · 29/12/2024 11:33

Typo- MMC at 14 weeks (June 2022)

Cosyseason1234 · 29/12/2024 15:22

Hi @Elizabethj89

Welcome,I have found mumsnet really useful for ivf info, there always seems to be someone who has been in the same boat and can answer a query!

In this thread we are all doing frozen embryo transfer for various reasons (so have already been through stimulation and egg collection etc) so it may be more useful for you to find a January IVF thread to find people at a similar stage?

I am going through a frozen transfer after IVF in Nov/Dec due to risk of overstimulation so we did a freeze all cycle.

Happy to answer any questions you may have, good luck with your journey!

Hey. I'm currently on norethistrone. Finish taking them on NYE then hoping for a bleed in the 5 days after so I can start oestradiol!

Thank you lovely! Good luck with everything,I was dreading the injections and side effects but actually they were completely fine, had less headaches than normal which was a win πŸ˜‚ I think the Jan IVF thread is literally called Jan IVF/ICSI.

Hi all,

I'm starting out on a natural cycle, my period started a couple of days ago which was earlier than expected so my scan I have booked the day the clinic reopens will be day 7, they wanted it to be days 2-4, so I expect that'll delay me until next cycle! It seems most people in this thread are on meds from the start, my lining tends to be thin so I don't know why my Dr is starting me unmedicated but fingers crossed it does what it should on its own! My last egg collection was late October so I'm really keen to get going now... even a few weeks later feels like a loooong time to wait

monicabella1234 · 29/12/2024 16:47

Afternoon all! Hope everyone doing ok?

Yep, I started meds on the 22nd. It’s 3 x 2mg tablets a day for me - eostradial Progynova.

Is anyone else on that? Been taking for a week… not feeling too shabby.

I’m only taking this, ahead of two scans this coming week for lining (and a blood test for progesterone which I asked for and has been added because I started bleeding before OTD) - and then FET around 8th or 10th…

It feels like 3 weeks has been 3 months. Anyone else feel like that? Going to hit some greens tomorrow after enjoyable Christmas eating.

Cosyseason1234 · 30/12/2024 09:19

Hi @Orangewillow

My clinic didn’t give me the option for unmedicated,I think it gives them more control with dates if it’s medicated so presume they just medicated everyone unless you request not to. Hopefully you can start with this cycle!

@monicabella1234 great to hear the meds have been ok for you! I am due to start next couple of days so won’t be much behind you 🀞 I am getting back on the healthy eating on the 1st it’s needed 🀣
