Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

The cetrotide prevents ovulation @wateringcanface while the stims work on growing the follicles. Once the follicles are ready the clinic will induce ovulation with the trigger shot and they will then swoop in a collect the eggs just before your body ovulates. They are controlling everything now so you don't need to worry about what your body would usually do :)

Thank you x

I get that it's controlled, I was just advised that it should line up with a normal cycle, like test day would be roughly when I would test if I was just ttc the normal way, so I've been obsessing over my flow app to get a rough idea of when dates will be 😂. Guess there is no point, I'll just show up to appointments as told and take injections as told and trust the process 😬

BelleCrescent · 15/10/2024 10:48

@wateringcanface Yes, your IVF cycle is a similar number of days as your normal cycle would be, but if necessary your clinic can adjust your stims depending on how your body reacts. You'll know more in your first scan. If your follicles don't grow as they should, the doctor might increase your dosage...at least that's what happened to me. 😊 It's all worked out in a very clever way but of course it's good to ask questions if you're worried about something. I hassle my clinic so much, trying to understand every little detail 😅I started my stims on day 2 of my period btw.

I've rang a couple times with silly questions one because I accidentally injected my upper stomach rather than lower and then because I forgot to remove bubbles 😂, all fine.

I think I started day 2 too, but it's just typical the month I start treatment my cycle was weird and I was really light. So I don't think full flow came till day 3, so I probably should i have started day 3-4. I'm assuming it's no biggie though as they wouldn't have let me start unless it was okay.

I'm starting to feel a bit sickly and crampy now. Hard to know what's a side effect and what is my body just playing tricks. I only know one person (well, know well enough that they'll speak about it) who did ivf, she ended up in hospital for 3 nights with ohs, so maybe that's making me more paranoid, she never got to egg transfer stage but luckily fell naturally months later

naomimn · 15/10/2024 13:39

So from 7 eggs, 6 fertilised, 6 made it to day 3 and only 2 made it to blastocyst stage 😭 is that normal attrition rates? Absolutely devastated as blastocyst doesn't even guarantee they're euploid.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 15/10/2024 13:47

I'm sorry that you aren't happy with the results @naomimn but they actually aren't bad. I had five fertilised and two blastocysts and my clinic and I were really pleased with that. Do you absolutely want to test with that number or just transfer them and see?

naomimn · 15/10/2024 14:06

@Hopingforno2in2024 I do want to test - but I'm happy to hear opinions on why someone might not want to test in my situation as I'm a bit of a newbie.
I'm 29, generally healthy, although my AMH is 13 so low for my age. Money isn't a huge issue, in the sense that I can part with what it costs to perform the testing. My absolute worst nightmare would be a disabled child (no offence to the parents of disabled children, they are all heroes and deserve so much respect, it is just not something I would choose to do myself). I also don't want to waste the time and my emotions having miscarriages, or give myself false hope thinking "that's 2 in the freezer" if in reality it might be that only 1 or neither is euploid.

Having said all that, I'd love to hear people's experiences or thoughts on why they did / didn't test.

I would like another 2 kids at least, I already have a child (conceived naturally, first month of trying)

Hopingforno2in2024 · 15/10/2024 14:34

What do your clinic recommend @naomimn? Mine don't recommend testing if you are under 37. Would it be a good idea to do another egg collection and then test all in one batch before starting any transfers?

Purpleflowers17 · 15/10/2024 15:21

@wateringcanface i wouldn’t worry to much about the dates of your normal cycle. I am due to have collection on Thursday which is 4 days before I normally ovulated. I have responded quickly so only had 8 days of stims. The trigger is the thing that starts the ovulation process your 2nd injection which usually starts day 6 stops you ovulating naturally.

@naomimn sorry to hear your not happy with the results 2 blasts is good. Like @Hopingforno2in2024 has mentioned have you thought about doing another stims and collection? Quite a few people do two without transfers to bank the eggs might be worthwhile with your age being under 30.

My collection is confirmed for Thursday, so now I’m getting paranoid and worried about that 😂. I’m hoping to do a fresh transfer still next week fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@Hopingforno2in2024 whens your test day?

Scorbunny2 · 15/10/2024 19:15

Started my injections tonight excited now. First scan next Thursday. Hope everyone is doing OK.

naomimn · 15/10/2024 19:50

@Hopingforno2in2024 ooh how come they don't recommend it for under 37? As in waste of money or risk of mistake ie saying it's aneuploid when it is in fact euploid?

@Purpleflowers17 good luck for your collection!!! Keeping all fingers crossed for you! Yes another collection is exactly what I'm doing. I'd like to do another 2 maybe and hopefully have enough embryos for 2-3 more kids

Hopingforno2in2024 · 16/10/2024 06:52

It is HFEA guidance I believe @naomimn :)

My heart rate has gone up again today, 4 days until test.

TallGirlProblems · 16/10/2024 10:01

@spamOFtheDAY Hey.. I know it’s a lot of pressure but honestly… don’t think about the amount. You just want that ONE that will work. For me the 5 day wait awaiting how many embryos you have is harder than the 2WW. Good luck.

@wateringcanface yes, they try and retrieve your follicles before you naturally release them :) I thought all those meds were itchy but you kinda get used to them.

Ladies… I am now 4dp5dt and last night I started with spots on my chin and thought “oh here we go, period is coming” 🙃
So I tested this morning and saw the faintest line ever 🥹 I’ve been testing every day since transfer so I know the trigger is out of my system

TallGirlProblems · 16/10/2024 10:02

This was my 4dp5dt morning test. It was stark white yesterday.

Congrats @TallGirlProblems! Keeping everything crossed for you.

TallGirlProblems · 16/10/2024 11:18

Thank you guys :) I’m not getting carried away just yet. I really want it to get darker.

Good luck to you all xx

Obrm · 16/10/2024 16:05

Hi everyone, would you mind if I joined please?
I’m currently day 12 of stims (slow responder), on Pergoveris.
I have DOR, AMH <1.0, age 37.
I’m just struggling with this round and need some hope. I only ever get 3 eggs maximum, currently follicles are 19mm, 16mm and 12mm…then a few smaller ones, so not holding my breath!

congratulations with the positive test!!! Was that a euploid?

wateringcanface · 16/10/2024 19:11

Tentative congrats @TallGirlProblems when is your official test day ?

I'd like to say my plan is to refrain from testing till official test day, but ill see how well I keep to that 😆.

I do see perks in testing early, obviously if you get a false positive that's devastating but if you get a false negative, it just means you come to terms with it, and then can be pleasantly surprised.

TallGirlProblems · 16/10/2024 20:58

@Obrm you still have three good sized follicles. There is hope yet :) will they likely do a 3 or 5 day transfer?

The clinic I use don’t grade the embryos. They just said it was a good quality embryo.

@wateringcanface My OTD is the 25th. What about yours?

I just prefer to know I think. It’s funny how people are so different. Some love feeling pregnant until proven otherwise and then people like me prefer to be not pregnant until proven otherwise. The whole tww and IVF process in general is just A LOT MENTALLY

Obrm · 16/10/2024 21:38

@TallGirlProblems just concerned as I’m sure they need to be >18mm for more chance of being mature. They said egg collection will be between Sunday or Tuesday. My clinic doesn’t do day 3 transfer, only day 5….they said if it doesn’t make it to day 5 then it wouldn’t have survived anyway. I see so many day 3s successes though…but need to trust them!

@wateringcanface good luck for your test day, do you have long to wait?

wateringcanface · 16/10/2024 22:29

@TallGirlProblems @Obrm

No date, I'm not at that point yet just getting ahead of myself 😂 I'm yet to even have egg collection, I should hopefully find out when that is tomorrow

Obrm · 16/10/2024 22:38

@wateringcanface ahh I see! Well good luck for collection…do you know how many eggs you are expecting?

Hopingforno2in2024 · 17/10/2024 06:31

Yesterday evening I started getting stabbed pains behind my pubic bone which are worrying. No bleeding and my heart rate is still high. Hate all this worry, need to try and accept that what will be will be.
