Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

Frustratingly just had a call with a nurse after our failure on this transfer. Informed me now is a bit of a backlog for consultant review so it’s like end of January before next transfer. By time done the review, another nurse appointment and then waiting for another AF. The waiting in IVF for loads of things is the most frustrating thing 🤦🏼‍♀️

Nic28j · 01/11/2024 15:47

@Purpleflowers17 thats frustrating! Are you NHS or private?

Purpleflowers17 · 01/11/2024 16:03

@Nic28j our last transfer was NHS but we will now need to go pay privately. We have our Frosties in storage so least I don’t have to stim again thankfully because otherwise god knows how long would take!

Scorbunny2 · 01/11/2024 16:21

@wateringcanface thank you so much. I only started stims injection yesterday so back uo next Friday for scan

Girls are ye eating a high protein diet and if ye are how many grams a day are ye getting in?

burnttoastandtea · 01/11/2024 17:25

Hi all,

I've got a question and I can't seem to find answer online. Hoping someone can help.

Last month I had a successful egg retrieval and although a fresh transfer was planned I had OHSS so it was cancelled.

We then decided to go for a medicated FET this month. I sent an email to find out when to start taking my medication and seems that actually this month is a down regulation month which surprised me. I kind of feel like maybe they're mistaken with their email and that they think my email was regarding an egg collection or is this correct and a medicated FET involves another down regulation month?

Any advice would be appreciated as they're closed for the weekend now

Thank you

@Scorbunny2 I'm not with ARGC but they recommend at least 30g a day here. I don't personally drink milk so eat things like greek yoghurt, eggs, pulses (kidney beans etc) and chicken. This is what I eat independent of treatment tbh.

Thanks @sirensong when should I start upping my protein?

sirensong · 01/11/2024 19:23

@Scorbunny2 what stage are you at? Probably no time like the present but primarily important during the cycle.

I'm personally not really eating that differently to how I would anyway - I'm not adding 8 chicken breasts like a body builder. Greek yoghurt, berries and walnuts/almonds for breakfast. Or boiled eggs and asparagus. Soup or chicken sandwich for lunch and a piece of fruit. Lean meat and/ or pulses + a lot of vegetables for dinner, with maybe a wholegrain carb on the side, and sprinkled with seeds. I'm still having a cappuccino each morning. Not personally convinced it makes a difference.

Personally I just added a little more protein, an egg in the morning and a bit more chicken than I'd usually eat. I didn't measure it or anything like that.

Just leaving the clinic after a 9am collection. 20 eggs retrieved but braced for a big drop off because of my age. Based on the sample, fertilisation will be standard not ICSI. Call tomorrow morning with an update. Argh.

Feliciacat · 02/11/2024 11:16

@sirensong that’s a great amount! Is the update tomorrow about fertilisation? With 20 eggs then surely even if there was a 90% drop off (which you’d be unlucky to get) then you’d get two embryos at the end. How exciting!

sirensong · 02/11/2024 11:57

@Feliciacat yes the update tomorrow morning will be about numbers fertilised. Then I'll get the same 3 day and 5 day updates I assume everyone else here gets. The PGTA testing will be the major hurdle!

Feel ok now but managed to drop my cup of water all over the floor when I first came round from sedation 🙄

Was dreading collection so really pleased it wasn't as bad as feared. Nice facilities down at King's.

@sirensong that's a good amount of eggs to work with, my clinic is no where near as swanky as that 😆
...

I'm very torn with how to feel, took a clear blue this morning, and while it had the faintest positive, it was fainter than yesterday. I took frer just now, and its positive, but faint. Though as the clear blue was fainter than yesterday, I'm a little worried it means by levels have dropped suggesting a chemical. Frer picture below.

@wateringcanface That just looks straight up like an early positive to me. Very much hope it works out!

Scorbunny2 · 03/11/2024 19:34

How is everyone keeping?

wateringcanface · 04/11/2024 09:21

@Scorbunny2

Bouncing between being an anxious mess and excited. How are you keeping?

Scorbunny2 · 04/11/2024 10:54

@wateringcanface I'm good feeling good. No side effects of injections yet.

Feliciacat · 04/11/2024 11:44

@Scorbunny2 I found that (aside from about three days of dizziness) the injections made me feel very energised and alert in a good way. I’m glad you’re not having a hard time on them either.

@wateringcanface I bet you’re on tenterhooks about whether it’s positive or not. It’s a very anxious time and frustrating that waiting is all that can be done.

@sirensong any update on your fertilised eggs? Haha I’d never ask someone that out of context; IVF is so surreal!

I feel kind of sick and headachey but this could be the progesterone. I hate the wait; definitely the hardest part! OTD is a week today but I think I’ll test on Saturday so I have the weekend to get my head around the news. Does anyone have any test recommendations? Some of them are dye-grabbers and I don’t want to break my heart.

wateringcanface · 04/11/2024 12:43

@Scorbunny2 I didn't get any side effects till 2-3 days before collection, when is retrieval date?

@Feliciacat yea its tense. My line is darker today that's reassuring. It seems too good to be true, our odds were rubbish and we mentally prepared for the ivf process to go on ages so I feel like I can't quite accept it'll happen first time.

I recommend first response early results. I couldn't find them in shops so ordered from amazon. I think it's a good idea to test on a weekend

Nic28j · 04/11/2024 13:02

@Feliciacat I also recommend first response early result - I got a clear positive at 8dp5dt and then took a clearblue digital to confirm 2-3 weeks. I also ordered them from Amazon, they are good value. I also tested on a Sunday (not expecting anything as I had a complete absence of symptoms bar cramping) but to try and come to terms with anything before the working week started. It seems like a sensible option if you can wait til then.

Good luck!!

spamOFtheDAY · 07/11/2024 11:12

How's everyone getting on?
I'm getting ready to start the next cycle
Probably not wise to do it in December, but I didn't want to wait!

Purpleflowers17 · 07/11/2024 11:20

@spamOFtheDAY all ok here. Unfortunately we don’t have our review with our consultant until beginning December frustrating 4 week wait. Means going to have to wait for January for the next cycle

Ru19 · 07/11/2024 12:08

@spamOFtheDAY I'm doing the same, couldn't bear to wait and makes me feel better when things are in motion. Starting a new cycle in Prague at the start of December. Are you doing a transfer or a new cycle?

Aww that's so frustrating. Have a few well deserved drinks over Christmas!
