Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

@Hopingforno2in2024 Sorry to hear, this is the most stressful time during IVF, I know! Sending you hugs. When is your test day again? Is it at the weekend?

Obrm · 17/10/2024 08:51

@Hopingforno2in2024 I have everything crossed for you!
how high is your heart rate? What is causing that?

Obrm · 17/10/2024 08:54

I’m just on my way to another scan to see if there has been any growth. Feel sick that I’ve come this far and it’s not looking great. Currently day 13 of stims

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 08:57

Definitely looks like there's a line there, @TallGirlProblems , fingers crossed it gets darker!!

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 08:59

Had my egg collection yesterday, out of 16 follicles 6 eggs were collected. While I'm happy with the result, it's weird that I had so many follicles but they only managed to retrieve 6... Has this happened to anyone? Just waiting for the news on how many fertilised 😓

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 09:02

Good luck for today, @Obrm ! Follicles can grow quite a lot between two scans, that's what happened to me at least. Fingers crossed for you too!!

Obrm · 17/10/2024 09:04

@BelleCrescent what were the measurements of the follicles, were they too small or did they just not contain an egg?
I agree 6 is still an incredible amount, are you having ICSI? They might be better quality than if you were to get 16! I’ve read that more eggs can potentially mean poorer quality.

TallGirlProblems · 17/10/2024 09:06

@BelleCrescent Thats pretty common. It was with me. Just because you have follicles, it does not mean they contain eggs or mature eggs.

On my first ever cycle I had 7 eggs collected, 2 were mature, 1 fertilised normally and made it to day 5. Now my son is 3. It’s scary but you just want 1 good one. So keep thinking that. Good luck. I know how horrible the 5 day wait is. Xxx

Hopingforno2in2024 · 17/10/2024 09:07

Glad egg collection went well @BelleCrescent and I hope you get a good fertilisation rate today :)

Good luck @Obrm! My heart rate has gone from 56bpm to 60bpm which is what it did when I was pregnant with my DS so it is a good sign. As usual with the process everything gets over thought.

Obrm · 17/10/2024 09:13

ooo @Hopingforno2in2024 I didn’t realise HR increases…it’s probably something I’ll look for now (if I make it yi transfer!) 😂 good luck, when is OTD?

thanks everyone, praying that the follicles have grown, they are scanning me everyday at the moment, and it’s so tiring with the long commute back and forth to the clinic! Hope it’s all worth it

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 09:21

Thanks, everyone! I'm happy with 6...I know it sounds stupid but I feel like I made a lot of effort growing those 16 follicles and then 10 of them were useless in the end 😂But it's not my biggest worry now, I was just curious.
@Obrm I think they were just too small and it wasn't worth retrieving them. They didn't say we needed ICSI so I guess not but I'll ask today. Scanning every day must be exhausting, looks like your clinic is more thorough than mine!!
@TallGirlProblems Thanks for the encouragement, sounds like you had a good outcome with your 1 embryo, amazing. 😊

Hopingforno2in2024 · 17/10/2024 09:22

My OTD is Sunday so I will order the tests tomorrow on Amazon Prime.

Obrm · 17/10/2024 09:39

@BelleCrescent yes I know what you mean! I have 10 follicles but a lot of them are <7mm so I’m not even considering them as ‘eggs’. I have 3 bigger follicles, so hoping to get 3 mature eggs 🙏🏻 let us know how your fertilisation goes!

ICSI is a strange one, with my first 3 rounds I did IVF, and fertilisation rate was 90%. Then I moved clinics (twice more) and they BOTH suggested ICSI, despite there being no male factor.

Their reasoning was that with fewer eggs (like me) ICSI was guaranteeing they were putting best sperm in and therefore giving the embryo the best chance. But it is expensive and I sometimes do wonder whether I actually need it because of no male factor. Let me know what your clinic recommends, I’d be interested to hear their views!

@Hopingforno2in2024 ill be thinking of you this weekend. Best of luck, sending lots of positive vibes!

Purpleflowers17 · 17/10/2024 11:19

how you feeling @BelleCrescent Trying to anticipate how I feel after all these pain meds wear off. 😂

I have just got home after egg collection, I do not remember a thing weird feeling that but a great nap!

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 11:43

Thanks @Obrm for the helpful explanation, I didn't know much about ICSI tbh! Just got off the phone with my clinic and they say they don't do it unless there's a male factor... I was reading about it now and there's no mention anywhere that it's needed if you've had no issues with fertilisation previously! Of course your clinic might be right in doing it for you anyway, putting the best sperm in probably makes sense? But I find it confusing how clinics have different rules.

It looks like 4 out of 6 eggs fertilised which I'm happy with. We're going into another egg collection cycle as soon as I get my period.. 😑

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 11:47

@Purpleflowers17 How did it go? Glad you managed to have a great nap. 😁I was in pain during the egg collection and after, but this morning I felt a lot better and almost back to normal now.
Just have some paracetamol and ibuprofen ready...and a hot water bottle. 😊But you might not feel anything at all. I was totally fine after my 1st egg collection, not sure why the 2nd one was worse!!

Purpleflowers17 · 17/10/2024 12:39

@BelleCrescent thank you for the advice good to hear you had a good percentage fertilise. You’re brave going for another cycle straight away I’m glad to not be doing another injection for a while!

They collected 17 eggs but won’t know what fertilises until tomorrow morning then we won’t get an update until Monday due to weekend.

BelleCrescent · 17/10/2024 13:45

Ooh @Purpleflowers17 that's an impressive number!! Hope you get a good fertilisation rate 😊I'm 41 now so multiple egg collections are my only hope really! Definitely don't fancy more injections but there you go 😅 My next update is on Monday, good luck with yours tomorrow.

wateringcanface · 17/10/2024 15:01

Im just curious, do your clinics volunteer the information about number of follicles, sizes, uterus lining etc or do you ask? All I got from my scan is "yup everything looks okay, come back in a couple of days" but I have 0 clue how many follicles or whatever I have😂

Egg collection looking likely to be Tuesday, I just want it over with, I don't know if its psychosomatic or what, but I feel yuck on the jabs, like I have two boulders in me weighing me down, I feel tired and groggy.

Obrm · 17/10/2024 15:40

@BelleCrescent amazing news, 4 fertilised is great! Hopefully they will develop, I think the stats are on average 50% of fertilised eggs progress to blastocyst stage… but of course everyone is different, but looks like you should get some blastocysts from that 🙏🏻

I’ve also been advised to potentially do a back to back after this one. This one is already a back to back, I think 3 in a row if going to finish me off 😩 plus I don’t think I have the funds anyway.

@Purpleflowers17 17 is incredible amount! Good work! Fingers crossed for good fertilisation rate.

@wateringcanface my clinic show me the chart of follicle growth after each scan, but if I had 17 that were growing well I don’t think they would bother, so it might be an individual thing. Just had mine checked today and I have 20mm, 18mm and 13mm (and 2 x 11mm). I’m praying the 11mm ones grow by EC!

LiveLaughL0ve · 17/10/2024 17:48

Hi everyone. I'm part way through my first IVF cycle and feeling a little bit lonely on the journey - I’m 43 and my friends have all had their babies. I was a bit late to the party!
I have a beautiful son, conceived naturally (after two miscarriages), who is 20 months. We TTC for a year and, one miscarriage later, decided it was time for IVF. I’m doing daily injections of meriofert and have my first scan tomorrow to check on progress.
Today and yesterday I’m feeling completely wiped out. Quite weak and a little light headed and shaky. And starving!
What side effects are others experiencing? I was expecting some tiredness but the hunger was a surprise!!

Purpleflowers17 · 17/10/2024 17:58

@wateringcanface i asked how many I had and also as my DH couldn’t come I asked to take a picture of the chart which they allowed me to do. Have they booked you in for another scan? I found drinking 2 litres of water really helped.

@LiveLaughL0ve it’s hard to be around people that don’t know or understand. Hope your first scan goes well! My side effects were tiredness & then after about a week I got bloated & felt very heavy inside. Sleep also wasn’t the easiest as I kept getting hot flushes. I wish one of my side effects had been hunger I actually had the opposite and appetite reduced. Make sure you drink 2litres of water the dizziness comes from the follicles taking all your water and making you dehydrated. I found the more water I drank the better.

LiveLaughL0ve · 17/10/2024 18:12

Thanks for the advice @Purpleflowers17 . I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll get drinking! 😊

Scorbunny2 · 17/10/2024 18:32

Hi Girls.
Hope ye are doing well. Quick question I'm on my 3rd day of Superfact and I've become quite itchy down below is this normal?
Thanks

Feliciacat · 17/10/2024 20:34

@Scorbunny2 Superfact is such a cool name. Is that a type of fsh? I’m on gonal-f. With regard to the itching, I can get itchy and even feel a bit burny at certain times of the month (usually just before my period). So maybe ivf drugs can cause itchiness. I wouldn’t worry unless there’s abnormal discharge or smell. Ask the clinic if you’re worried though.
