Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

@Hopingforno2in2024 sorry to hear about your egg collection experience. That seems crazy that there would be no tracking until CD11! Well done you for insisting on an earlier scan! It's bad to think some people wouldn't know any different if doing their first cycle, so wouldn't push for anything more.

ButterscotchBabe · 02/10/2024 08:02

@Lozzy000 was your previous clinic NHS? Mine was, they had NHS and private patients but the treatment was the same. They literally did no blood testing whatsoever throughout the IVF cycle, not even to check progesterone levels, they were basically treating me blind! I don't know if standards have always been that poor but they really need to improve.

@Hopingforno2in2024 that's frustrating you had to fight for more personalised treatment but well done for advocating for yourself 👏🏼. If they hadn't agreed to the earlier scan or lowering the Progynova, you can guarantee they wouldn't take responsibility for the negative outcomes!

Which reminds me, the National HFEA survey is out now, they only do one every 3 years so really important to complete and share honest feedback

Lozzy000 · 02/10/2024 10:59

@ButterscotchBabe nope it wasn't an NHS clinic! They were very good for checking progesterone on the day on transfer, but that's about it 😂

Oh thanks so much for sharing this survey!! Never heard about it but definitely going to complete it x

Anon645 · 02/10/2024 11:41

I'm having my embryo transfer in 48 hours and nobody has checked my progesterone levels in 3 months !

ButterscotchBabe · 02/10/2024 13:34

@Anon645 could you ask them to check it? If you make your case they might be willing to do it. If not, it doesn't mean your embryo transfer won't work, many clinics don't do testing and still get positive outcomes

Lozzy000 · 02/10/2024 19:24

@Anon645 I always had mine tested on transfers day - straight after or before the transfer. If my levels were lower than they liked they'd up my progesterone to be on the safe side.

Could you ask your clinic to add this in if you're worried? Usually they're happy to as it's you that's paying! X

Hopingforno2in2024 · 03/10/2024 07:39

Mine don't test @Anon645 and on my fresh transfer I bled before my test day. They still aren't testing this time but have added in lubion so I figure it's fine not to test. Are you just on the cyclogest?

Did my first cyclogest this morning, first lubion will be this evening.

spamOFtheDAY · 03/10/2024 09:38

Started my injections yesterday (after a bit of a struggle preparing them and getting air out the syringe 🤦‍♀️)
What kind of symptoms could I expect in the lead up to egg retrieval?

X

How exciting @spamOFtheDAY! Which injections are you doing and what dose? I'm starting mine tomorrow, only 1 per day initially (Pergoveris pen 250 IU).
It's difficult to say what symptoms you'll have, I guess everyone responds differently. I didn't have many symptoms last time, and they were mostly positive! In a weird way all those drugs I had to take did me good and I felt better than I did without them lol. It's normally the progesterone supplements that don't affect me very well.. I hope you won't get any bad symptoms and it all goes well. 😊

Lozzy000 · 03/10/2024 12:08

@spamOFtheDAY great news! How are you feeling today? The injections will get easier each day. In terms of effects, I've never really felt any different on stims. If you have a lot of follicles then you might feel bloated and a little uncomfortable towards the end. I never tend to as I've only ever got 1-4 eggs each round!

I had my baseline scan & bloods this morning so start stims this evening. Fingers crossed for cycle 4 and all the prep will make a difference! X

Thanks @BelleCrescent
It's meriofert 225
Have you had that before? Or is the same as the one you start tomorrow? Are you excited (isn't it weird to be excited about injecting yourself?!)

That's good to hear you felt good. I'm hoping I'll feel the same. I'm feeling really good now I'm
Off the pill TBH!

@Lozzy000 ah yey to starting tonight - sounds promising! 🤞

I'm feeling good today - actually excited for the next injections tonight! It's just a bit of an awkward time (they said between 5-6pm) so I've just set a reminder so I don't forget!

Lozzy000 · 03/10/2024 14:57

@spamOFtheDAY setting alarms is definitely the way to go. I've got alarms for each injection and I also use the medication bit on the apple health app - you can add all your medications, the time you need to take and it reminds you each day. You can also check off when you've taken it, which I like.

At my last clinic they used an app called Salve which had all your meds logged and the time you take it. It was great!!

Saw you're taking meriofert. I only took that one evening in my 2nd cycle as I needed 1 extra dose and it had the glass ampoules, which I cut my finger on straight away 😂😂 I've taken a lot of different stims but that was the most awkward to draw up etc., so well done!!! X

AnonS · 03/10/2024 15:04

Hi everyone. Jumping back on the thread now AF has arrived and time to try my 5th FET. Read a few massages to catch up. How is everyone, anyone similar times with me on FET, my first scan is on day 10 (Thurs 10th).

BelleCrescent · 03/10/2024 15:27

@spamOFtheDAY Mine is Pergoveris 250, I've never had Meriofert before! Pergoveris is a pen and it's meant to be very easy to use...we'll see. Dealing with the ampoules is always a bit trickier but you'll quickly get into it. Glad to hear you're feeling good about it now and yes, I'm excited about the injections, too!! It sounds weird, but I am. 😆

Scorbunny2 · 03/10/2024 17:05

How did it go?

Transfer went fine thanks :) But I was vomitting through the night and feeling nauseous this morning !

Hopingforno2in2024 · 05/10/2024 10:28

Oh no perhaps you have picked up a stomach bug @Anon645 or could it be the progesterone? I know that creates nausea but not sure about actual vomiting. Little embryo will be snug and warm and secure though.
