Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

@burnttoastandtea it was at least 5-7 days I think for the swelling and pain to go down, fluid leaks from the follicles until they start to collapse towards period arriving. Just keep an eye on your fluid balance and keep your clinic in the loop x

BelleCrescent · 24/10/2024 08:10

@AnonS Oh no, that's rubbish timing! Being ill is the last thing we need right now... I hope you feel better soon. 😥I've been really paranoid about viruses since it's that time of the year and I rarely go anywhere which makes me go insane. Not sure that helps with things either.😅

AnonS · 24/10/2024 11:28

@BelleCrescent I always get ill when I have a transfer, last one I had a cold, the one before was covid. I caved and tested today 6dp, BFN, I know it is early but convinced I am out now.

Scorbunny2 · 24/10/2024 12:20

@Clairebear101 how did you get on? Here in the waiting room little butterflies flying 😂

Hey @Scorbunny2 all good, everything is looking good so will add in the pergoveris tomorrow evening and back for another scan Friday week and hopefully egg retrieval on monday/Tuesday week. 2nd time round is much easier i know what to expect.

Feliciacat · 24/10/2024 13:16

@AnonS I’m sorry to hear about the negative. I would be surprised if a positive would show that early though surely? Try not to test again until at least 9dp5dt. I bet I’ll be the same as you though if I have a transfer; the wait to test must be agonising.

@Scorbunny2 and @ClaireBear101 I hope your cycles continue to go well. It sounds promising so far!

I’m having egg collection tomorrow at 9am. I can’t take anti-inflammatories due to my asthma so I can’t even take the ibuprofen pessary they intended for me to have. Any pain advice? I can take paracetamol but I’m worried it won’t touch the sides.

I only got diagnosed with asthma a few months ago so until recently I did take anti-inflammatories. This is my first experience of significant pain without ibuprofen.

wateringcanface · 24/10/2024 13:29

@Feliciacat

Are you not going to be sedated for the egg retrieval? I didn't take any analgesia in preparation of it, I just relied on medication they gave me during the procedure, I had fentanyl with gas and air

Feliciacat · 24/10/2024 13:34

@wateringcanface I’m sorry for not being more clear. I will indeed be put to sleep for the procedure. When I asked about pain management; I meant after the procedure. Should I expect a lot of pain?

@Feliciacat discomfort yes but not too painful
I took no pain relief after last time and was fine.
Beat of luck tomorrow!
Worst part is honestly the 2 week wait!

Ah ok,

I took paracetamol afterwards and used a hot water bottle. I was in pain but was tolerable, plus I still had the sedatives in my system for a while so even though I was in pain, I was in a great mood 😂

Can you take codeine or cocodamol?

wateringcanface · 24/10/2024 13:49

I was completely conscious for the egg retrieval, I remember the whole thing, it was strange being in pain, but relaxed at the same time 😂

Feliciacat · 24/10/2024 14:21

Thank you for the information. Sounds like pain is variable but should be ok. I’ll report back tomorrow! Thank you for the support.

Also, no I can’t take codeine or cocodamol :( But should be ok from the sound of it!

I've also tested (TOO many times) at 5dp5dt
We're both still early
Will you keep testing daily?
🤞

@spamOFtheDAY No, I wont test until maybe Mon or ill hold out until Wed. I only tested as my other half was going away until Sun and thought it would be nice if it were positive. Period cramps have starting today, this happens every time around now, as it is 1 week to aunt flow would have arrived.

Scorbunny2 · 24/10/2024 17:45

@Feliciacat @Clairebear101 My lining wasn't as thick as period only started yesterday morning. Staying on Bursulin and back up gor scan next Wed.

Scorbunny2 · 24/10/2024 18:42

Is everyone here trying for their first baby?

Feliciacat · 24/10/2024 18:50

@Scorbunny2 I am. I used to want two children but at this rate, I’ll be lucky (and happy) to get one. It’s the years spent trying that have eaten up time. I think some people on this thread are trying for their second but for most it’s their first.

Scorbunny2 · 24/10/2024 19:39

@Feliciacat wishing you all the luck in the world.

Feliciacat · 24/10/2024 19:49

Thanks! Wishing you all the luck too!

@Scorbunny2 ah that's ok just need more time. Gotta do what's best to allow it all to work.

My wife and I are trying for our first. If I can freeze eggs that will allow for easier go next try hopefully but that depends on my eggs this time round.

Last time there was only 5 and 3 didn't fully fertilise and other 2 went back in but no luck.

I wish we had started sooner to be honest but funds didn't allow and government doesn't help same sex couples so what can we do.

wateringcanface · 24/10/2024 21:25

@Scorbunny2 me, working on baby number 1. Would love 2, or even 3 ideally but that will be dependent on how hard work achieving baby no1 turns out to be.

Purpleflowers17 · 24/10/2024 22:06

@Scorbunny2 working on baby number one here and hoping allows time for another one at some point.

AnonS · 25/10/2024 09:26

@Scorbunny2 Yes, baby number 1 for me. It has been a very long time, nearly 6 years ttc. Time is running out for me too being 41.

wateringcanface · 25/10/2024 09:29

Feeling a bit deflated, had the day 3 call. Out of 8 embryos', only one is good, 7 are 'average', and one is slow. I don't think there really is an average though, think it was just a polite way of meaning poor. She thinks the slow one won't make it to day 5. Out of the 6 average ones some are showing signs of fragmentations so a few of them are not likely to make it. She said it is unlikely the average ones will go from average to good, they are likely to stay average or not make it. Same with the good one, no guarantee the good one will stay good. In some cases, they do 'catch up' and poor/average can become good, but not often.

I asked, if two poor/average ones were to make it, and the good was to stay good, whether the two poor ones could be transferred, and good one frozen, she said yes. I think I'd give that a go, just to give myself an extra short as opposed to just relying on the one good one.

What are everyone else's experiences with eggs retrieved and what made it to day 5?

Part of me thinks the day 3 update is pointless, as everything can change between day 3-5

Hi everyone🤗, I am writing an article on where startups should focus in the IVF area to improve the process for women. I have created a short survey and am looking for anonymous input from people who have experience of the IVF process. It takes 5 minutes max. If you have been through/are going through the process in the UK, I would really appreciate your input. Thank you! >> https://5v6tfsfn442.typeform.com/to/nuQ2nZmc Survey link here
