Hi 👋
I'm due to commence IVF next month (injections to start 2nd October).
Thought I'd start a group for anyone going through the same thing at the same time to support each other ☺️

Oh @Hopingforno2in2024 I am so sorry to hear that news. I can’t imagine how you must feel (I’m new to the journey). IVF is so much effort and worry so to go through a cycle without the result you want is surely crushing. As you say, do lovely things for yourself today; you really deserve it after all you’ve been through.

Feliciacat · 20/10/2024 08:21

Has anyone else lost their appetite? I’m on a short cycle protocol (so two weeks of injections starting on day one of my period). Dosage is 450IU Gonal-f (FSH) every day for two weeks and 0.25IU Ovamex from day 5 to stop me ovulating. I could believe I was on Ozempic although it’s not a bad thing since I’m 14 stone!

Scorbunny2 · 19/10/2024 23:21

@Clairebear101.
I will of course. Are you having any side effects from the injections?

@Scorbunny2 I had a lot more last time with awful migraines but this time it's been far less. Tiredness mostly and my stomach is off a lot. You?

ClaireBear101 · 20/10/2024 09:17

@Hopingforno2in2024 I'm soo sorry! I know the feeling. It's heartbreaking. Such a difficult journey is Ivf.
Sending hugs. Be good to yourself now. Take care of you. I wish there was something we could say but I know there isn't. I hope you can try again. X

LiveLaughL0ve · 20/10/2024 09:21

@Hopingforno2in2024 I’m so sorry to hear that it hasn’t worked out. Sending hugs too.

@Feliciacat I’m the other way and mostly ravenous!

Hopingforno2in2024 · 20/10/2024 09:36

Thanks all and good luck to you all! I'm off to meet my friend, eat Thai food, see her new house and probably buy Christmas decorations in the garden centre :) Life could be a lot worse xx

wateringcanface · 20/10/2024 10:10

@Hopingforno2in2024

Sorry to hear that 😞x

Yes my appetite has been poor. It's made it hard to be healthy as I'm just wanting very bland food like cereal or toast. I had some frozen juices in the freezer from a previous juice cleanse so I've been having one of those a day last few days as I feel like I've been really lacking nutrients.

Last day of jabs today, woo.

Anyone else been given lorazapam for the night before and morning of egg retrieval? The nurse laughed when i said i was excited as I've never taken anything like that 😂

Feliciacat · 20/10/2024 10:42

@wateringcanface well done for making it to the last day of jabs! With regard to my trigger injections, I’ve been given Zivafert and Buselerin (a dual trigger because I’m likely to have poor response). I’ve also been given a voltarol pessary to help with inflammation plus antibiotics. That’s all the medication I’ve been given.

I’m no doctor but it looks like lorazepam is an anti-anxiety thing. I suppose that makes sense if you’ll be awake for the retrieval. I’m just being put to sleep with a mask so I guess that’s why I don’t have lorazepam. It makes sense generally to have it though.

wateringcanface · 20/10/2024 10:56

@Feliciacat

It's interesting how everyone is slightly different and how they work out who gets what.

I've had 10 days 225mg overleap jabs
6 days cetrorelix jabs
I've got trigger shot tonight
Egg retrieval Sunday

Day before egg retrieval and morning of lorazapam.

And then a couple weeks of progesterone pessaries during 2ww.

Yeah lorazapam is to relax me. Ill be sedated for egg retrieval but conscious from what I understand.

Feliciacat · 20/10/2024 11:11

@wateringcanface oh sorry, those meds I mentioned were just for my egg collection. I will also have had 12 days of FSH and 7 days of ovulation suppressants.

Purpleflowers17 · 20/10/2024 11:27

@Hopingforno2in2024 so sorry to hear the news. Hoping you have a pampered day and look after yourself.

Purpleflowers17 · 20/10/2024 11:35

I feel like I got an easy deal
only had 8 days meriofert and 4 days ovamex with trigger shot. I’m now on day two of my pessaries which I think I have worse side effects than the injections.

I have super anxiety about the clinic calling for an update tomorrow on our embryos. Luckily doing loads today to keep me occupied I hope!

What are those pessaries for ?

Mine have been given for post egg collection, which I'm surprised about tbh as when I've looked it up it seems they are mostly given to women with history of miscarriage.

It's all very random. Last scan I had the nurse said "have you been taking your nasal spray", i said no 🤔then she said "oh you must not have been asked to" ...I didn't ask why but I did think why would some get a nasal spray, and some not?

Purpleflowers17 · 20/10/2024 13:26

@wateringcanface they are for progesterone I believe it’s standard practice that everyone has them post egg collection if then doing a fresh transfer & then post transfer until test date. I had egg collection Thursday so started them yesterday with transfer expected Tuesday 🤞🏻

A lot will depend if your doing fresh or frozen in terms of drugs and also the protocol you are on will be tailored based on your results.

BelleCrescent · 20/10/2024 13:59

I’m currently doing a duo stim, @LiveLaughL0ve ! Just had my 1st egg collection earlier this week and waiting for my period to arrive…and then going into stims again. I think duo stim is actually very common, especially with women over the age of 40 or even younger ones with low egg reserve. My doctor said this is the best thing we can do to maximise our chances!

BelleCrescent · 20/10/2024 14:02

@Feliciacat I had no appetite during stims which is very unusual for me 😅But after egg collection it came back and now I’m feeling ravenous all the time 😁

LiveLaughL0ve · 20/10/2024 15:43

Thanks @BelleCrescent . I’ll ask about it tomorrow. When I read about it I thought it sounded like a great idea, but now I’m not sure I can face going straight into another round of stims after the way the hormones have impacted me this weekend. I can’t stop crying and struggling to find any motivation to do anything today. I’m a mess! 🫣
Best of luck getting your update tomorrow. I hope you have some good ones to bank.

wateringcanface · 20/10/2024 16:50

I'm feeling particularly rough today, really hurts to go to the loo, and hurts to stand up straight, and keep getting waves of nausea. Very glad I've only got one more jab to go as it feels like my ovaries are being pushed to their limits.

They've told me as I have a fibroid blocking visibility of an ovary they are likely only going to use one. I feel like that ovary knows it needs to work harder as the pain does seem to be more to that side 😆i have given it a pep talk.

BelleCrescent · 20/10/2024 16:55

Sorry to hear you’re having a difficult weekend, @LiveLaughL0ve 😥Dealing with the side effects can be awful ! My last injection was on Monday and I have to say I’m feeling a lot more balanced now. How many more days of stims do you have? I might regret this duo stim in the end, not really looking forward to the next cycle!! I hope my period is late this month so that I get a few more injection free days but knowing my luck, it’ll be early 😅 I hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself!

Scorbunny2 · 20/10/2024 18:59

@Clairebear101 no side effects yet so kind of worrying me.

@Hopingforno2in2024. So sorry to hear that, been there and it's awful

LiveLaughL0ve · 20/10/2024 20:46

That does sound rough @wateringcanface . ☹️

Thanks @BelleCrescent . I think I’ll have 3 more days and then egg collection on Friday, but I’ll know more after my scan tomorrow.
It’s good that you’re feeling more balanced. Ha! Yes. I can imagine it’s the only time during the process that time flies by. Take care of yourself too and enjoy the downtime if you can.

Yes, I've been struggling to eat a couple of mouthfuls here and there! I'd worked hard on a healthy diet and supplements for months after my last IVF cycle. Then I had an injury and complications from surgery 2 months ago and my diet really slipped. I was already feeling guilty about that, and since starting stims I've barely been able to eat at all! I didn't lose my appetite last time and I was just saying it's ĺike Ozempic!

@Scorbunny2 everyone's different i wouldn't worry? What are you on?

@wateringcanface I am similar i was doing good till yesterday now migraine for last 24 hours with stomach pains. I got similar last try so I promise it gets better. Push through. All for a good cause!!

Feliciacat · 21/10/2024 08:21

I had my scan today and there are 12 follicles but six of them are only 1mm. The nurse said they might grow by Friday. The others are over 10mm (on the right and four on the left). So does that mean I’ll get a maximum of six mature eggs?

They say that they’ll probably do egg collection on Friday. I’d like that but my boss will be pissed as she hoped it’d be on a weekend.
