I'm alright thanks @Kp121 just super impatient to be where you are at and scared at the same time! I hope all goes well for you and your stomach gives you a break!

@Hoppy1985 I did acupuncture for the IVF/EC and it was amazing, it really helped me relax, despite not believing one bit in all the "non-scientific medicine". So I am tempted to do it again before the transfer, I guess it cannot hurt...

Kp121 · 05/08/2024 19:40

I bet @Ginie2024 ! I can sympathise with just wanting to get going. I had to get an abdominal surgery last September that put all this on hold and it’s hard watching everyone else. Your time will be here before you know it.

I’ve heard really good things about fertility acupuncture. I had it for back pain and it was amazing despite me not believing at all

Whysitsohard91 · 05/08/2024 21:09

@Hoppy1985 sorry to hear that - sounds incredibly tough. You mention guys - Did you do PGT-M? We haven’t but waiting for the green light to use embryos because we haven’t done PGT-M (son has a genetic condition). So I think it’ll be whenever all the consultants can meet up to discuss our case. I know this probably isn’t the right thread for it but genetics has been a whole other process!

Hoppy1985 · 05/08/2024 21:25

@Whysitsohard91 yes we did..I have muscular dystrophy. It's X linked so it's severe in males (as in could potentially die v young) and a bit of pot luck with girls (I'm in my 30's and a full time wheelchair user).

Ginie2024 · 05/08/2024 21:27

@Kp121 thank you, I should not complain as I know some of you have had surgeries, covid and other incidents that delayed everything and it must be so frustrating! I'll get there eventually, as long as I don't miscarry again

@Whysitsohard91 may I ask why you didn't go with PGT? Just out of curiosity as I had to make the same decision

AnonS · 06/08/2024 10:32

@Ginie2024 Fingers crossed for us all. I'm glad acupuncture helped you relax. I tried it on my last cycle and thought it was a total waste of money, I didn't relax at all :( I just felted annoyed at paying £80 a session and still feeling stressed. My lining did get thick enough (this was the initial reason I tried it, so could have helped that. I'm not doing it this time, to see if it was letrozole that helped lining.

@Hoppy1985 I have had 3 failed FETs and in those 6 abandoned. Currently on my 1st attempt at 4th FET. Letrozole is tablet form, I think it is also given to people that have PCOS to help them ovulate.

Hi all just looking for some advice. I am hoping to schedule fet soon. Period is due next week and they said I can start then if I want. However I must admit I have not been living a very healthy lifestyle of late. I have just returned from a holiday where copious amounts of wine was consumed and I didn’t eat very healthily either. Wondering whether to put it off until sept and focus on getting healthy in the meantime! Or just go on and do it asap.

Ginie2024 · 07/08/2024 11:16

@Missmarymack2 welcome! I'd love to know the answer to this too tbh...but then, will there ever be the right/perfect moment?

LeonieKate · 07/08/2024 16:19

Hey all, new here! Just on day 1 of my FET cycle and suddenly feeling very overwhelmed by the whole thing. I've done this before (a few times - last time resulted in my DS, now 20 months), so I thought I'd be breezy but I'm suddenly not.

And this time life is more hectic so I can't be looked after as much as I was last time - I feel like such a princess saying that! I can't even remember what I'm supposed to do, apart from take the meds and avoid booze. I feel a bit unprepared and overwhelmed... Just wanted to say hi and feel the solidarity for what is ultimately quite a lonely process.

LeonieKate · 07/08/2024 16:24

@Missmarymack2 I think it's unlikely that your holiday consumption will have any detrimental effects - perhaps the fact that you've been relaxed and had a lovely time might actually be beneficial!

But I imagine the key thing is - if you'd like to spend a month getting prepared, taking a breath and feeling fighting fit just for your own sense of preparedness, do it. I don't think you'll find any concrete answer to the question, so it's more a case of what feels best for you (so unhelpfully vague, sorry!).

Missmarymack2 · 07/08/2024 16:51

@Ginie2024 @LeonieKate thanks so much for your replies. I think I will give it a miss this month as I don’t really feel mentally or physically prepared! Not sure I ever will but will go for it in sept anyway

Gnatalie16 · 07/08/2024 19:50

I have my transfer booked for Friday at 11.30am 😬

I have my scan on Friday. Hoping to have the transfer the Friday after so I'll be a week behind you 😄 how are things with the progesterone? Any side effects?
Will you take the day off on Friday?

SlinkMcSlink · 07/08/2024 20:39

Good luck @Gnatalie16

Progesterone is gross lol makes me tired but other than that not too bad.
Can't take the day off Friday but I work from home some days so it's not too bad

@Hoppy1985 thank you for sharing - it’s good to have the option of certainty and some control. Definitely adds to the complexity of the ivf process though!

Whysitsohard91 · 08/08/2024 07:41

@Ginie2024 our son has deafness infertility syndrome and we’re comfortable with another child having the same. It took a lot of thought though - it’s a bit of an ethical minefield. It’s mainly the infertility angle that worries us - which is odd in itself to think about because it wouldn’t affect a girl. Did you have a similar situation? X

Hoppy1985 · 08/08/2024 10:08

@Whysitsohard91 oh 100%, that extra step of having to wait for the testing to find out how many are without the gene is just additional emotional turmoil that no one needs, and true to form both time in reduced my embryo count by 50% which was really touch when i only had 2 and 4 (I got NONE in my second cycle, i think my body was overmedicated and didn't like it, i felt terrible the whole time).

@Gnatalie16 As in tomorrow?!? That's exciting. I'll be not too far behind you with mine on Monday.

Gnatalie16 · 08/08/2024 10:12

@Hoppy1985 yep tomorrow it's come around so quick!
Went and had my progesterone blood test this morning so I'm just hopeful that's all okay and still can go ahead tomorrow. If it can't I don't know what I will do to be honest

Have you been given you time yet for Monday?

OP posts:
Hoppy1985 · 08/08/2024 10:16

@Gnatalie16 Yep I'm just after lunch which is good as it takes us a good 2 1/2 hours to get into London so we can leave with plenty of time and avoid getting stressed stuck in traffic.

That's good then less stress.
I thought my 45 min drive was enough so I feel for you

Hoppy1985 · 08/08/2024 10:21

@Gnatalie16 Yeah it's a pain, it's why we end up getting our scans done locally either it's basically a whole day for a 20min appointment!

All the luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes my love!

Kp121 · 08/08/2024 10:39

How are you feeling @Gnatalie16 ? All set for tomorrow?

Whysitsohard91 · 08/08/2024 10:43

@Hoppy1985 oh that’s really tough when they are so precious and hard to come by. Hope you have a sticky one in there xx

Hoppy1985 · 08/08/2024 10:56

@Whysitsohard91 I've just got one final one left. I had two sticky ones previously but they didn't stay around for long unfortunately. Got all my last hopes riding on this one.
