So I started to bleed quite heavily yesterday evening but it stopped this morning. It was bright red but kind of diluted sorry for the tmi. I called the EPU but they did not ask me to come in as it seems to stop. They advised me to call the IVF clinic to have the scan tomorrow instead of Thursday. I feel so stressed and heartbroken 😔
@Gnatalie16 it reminded me of your post a couple of weeks ago. Did you have a scan after your blood tests?

Yes same happened twice to me both times heavy with clots but stopped.
I had my 7 week scan on Thursday and everything was perfect, the nurse said they class heavy as being when you fill a nighttime thick sanitary towel which both times mine didn't so we're not heavy.
Try not to panic and it stopping is a good sign it's just implantation bleeding. I went for a beta blood test both times and they confirmed all was okay and numbers were really good. Ring them and ask for a blood test that will help, my clinic wouldn't bring my scan forward.
I'm 8 weeks today so stay chilled (easier said than done!) and see what they say tomorrow when you call them xx

Hi, just to add my experience - sorry for TMI but I’ve found stuff like this useful in the past! I too had a couple of bleeds last week. I’m 8+5 today. I had a scan last Monday 9th and bled a very small amount of light pink a couple of hours afer. I wasn’t that concerned because the scan was a bit rough and I figured the pessaries would already be irritating my cervix. It turned to brown blood the next day, again v. light. I then had another slightly heavier bleed but still light pink on Friday. My EPU had already closed for the weekend. I found a private scan at 10am on Saturday 14th instead. That showed the baby was fine but a subchronic hematoma (SCH) of 13.7mm by 8mm maybe above the gestational sac. They said it was OK and very common in IVF with blood thinning meds, but I should rest. I happened to have my midwife appointment y’day (Sunday) and she told me to go to A&E. That was an epic waste of time as there were no sonographers (EPU was closed so they all leave at midday) so I couldn’t get a scan. I saw a gyne doctor who said I should stay on my enoxaparin for now but to come to EPU today (Monday) anyway to get a scan and more advice. So I’m now here in a 6 hour queue waiting… feeling pretty down and very anxious, the idea of getting this far and then miscarrying again, even though the baby looks fine, is horrific. I had a MMC last time on the same day (8+5).

@positivepetal I’m in the exact same situation as you had three one excellent quality and two poor. The excellent resulted in a chemical. We are going to do another fresh round before doing more transfers as I want to freeze while I’m young. Also to say sorry to hear about your loss. Chemicals suck.

CharlieBarlie1 · 16/09/2024 17:57

@Loute02 @Zypig I Hope everything works out ok for you both🙏 I feel like this journeg is a constant rollercoaster for us all.
I'm currently 5weeks 4 days. I've had some brown discharge today, trying not to worry but can't help but panic. Has anyone had this and pregnancy all ok afterwards?

positivepetal · 16/09/2024 23:33

@SamVan I'm also going to do the same. Will save the two frozen low quality's and ask for a fresh round.
They want to retest my bloods again on Wednesday as I was still showing hcg levels of 81 on Friday. I know what's coming but just feels like it's being dragged out and I have to continue the meds!

SamVan · 17/09/2024 00:56

@positivepetal that’s so annoying that you have to continue the meds. Did they say why? Once mine dropped I discontinued meds and had another test a week later to make sure hcg had dropped to 0 to rule out any issues. I’m taking a couple of months out now and will do my fresh round in late October.

@Ginie2024 I've just come back to this thread to check how everyone's getting on from about a month away and I'm really sorry to see you joined those of us who didn't have a good outcome.

We had our follow up consultation yesterday and are trying to decide where to go now that we've no embryos left. @Coffeeandbannans @llamajohn I took have been trying a good while (on and off for 8 years) which includes two pregnancies and two MC, one just before my first scan. It's such an emotionally battering process when you're continually disappointed and my heart goes out to you both.

I'm really happy to see you're going strong @Kp121 @Gnatalie16 and everyone else still on a positive journey. I'll keep it all crossed for you girls!

Hello, thanks @CharlieBarlie1 ! Do you still have some spotting? I wanted to give a bit of an update in case it help people in the same situation. I had a heavy bleed on Saturday that stopped on Sunday morning. Phone the EPU and IVF clinics and they did not have any space to see me before Thursday (yesterday). Went for my scan and we've seen a heartbeat 💓 and baby is measuring on track! There is a big hematoma and they also seen a cyst on one of my ovaries. They say it is likely I'll bleed again but should be brown old blood.
@Zypig how are you doing?

CharlieBarlie1 · 20/09/2024 10:44

Thanks @Loute02 I like hearing other peoples stories as it gives me reassurance that bleeding doesnt necessarily mean the worst. It only lasted one day and my ivf clinic didnt seem concerned they said its probably the pessaries causing irritation so to try switching insertion. My 7 week scan is booked for next Friday. Must be so amazing seeing the heartbeat. Hoping we see the same next week! Xx

Sierra26 · 20/09/2024 11:14

Thanks all for sharing your spotting/bleed experiences. It genuinely helps calm the nerves.

I had some milky pink spotting with a couple of brown old blood streaks at 1-3dp5dt, i assumed was cervical irritation and potentially implantation.

Faint BFP at 5dp and no more spotting until today 10dp/4+1, which is more of the milky pink. Was really disappointed to see it but knowing it can be quite normal is reassuring.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 20/09/2024 11:20

I'm still noticing something on tissue paper which seems like white/brown. Trying to keep calm. I also thought it could be the pessaries, so switched them to the back, but have still noticed something on the tissue paper.

Zypig · 20/09/2024 12:38

Hi @Loute02 I’m doing OK. Good to hear you are measuring on track. They found the hematoma I mentioned in a private scan last Saturday. I went to EPU on Monday and they were really great. They could still see it but it looked smaller. The doctor basically said I could scan you again this evening and it’d look different as blood moves around. The pregnancy is implanted in a big area and this is just one bit of it. I asked about taking enoxaparin (clexane/arovi) as this thins the blood, he said that it’s a grey area but being practical if I’m not bleeding to continue taking it but if I bleed wait 24 hours until I stop bleeding and then take the next dose. Just to note I’m only taking enoxaparin as part of a standard fully medicated FET protocol not because I have any blood markers. He said he wasn’t concerned and the ‘the pregnancy is doing everything he’d expect for this stage.’ It was measuring 1 day behind but that’s like 1mm so not an issue. I left feeling way more positive. I’m 9+2 today and haven’t bled since 8+2 except a very tiny bit of brown spotting 2hrs after the ultrasound.

I’ve tried to take it easy this week as the main advice seems to be to rest. I have really bad morning sickness so I couldn’t do much even if I wanted to!

Try to take it easy and don’t panic! Looks like ~20% of IVF pregnancies get a subchronic hematoma so it’s very common.

Zypig · 26/09/2024 17:28

Hi all, just thought I’d leave a note here as I think I’m one of the furthest along having transferred on 5 August. As part of tapering down my meds I stopped my progesterone injections on Tuesday (10 weeks y’day) but still using cyclogest pessaries. I had a terrible headache y’day being my first day without the injections. Having googled it sounds pretty common so thought I’d flag it.

I also have terrible all day (not morning) sickness. Last night I caved and took cyclizine for the first time which my gp prescribed, it’s definitely taken the edge off but I’m super drowsy with it. Praying this is the peak of how bad it gets. Despite that I can’t stop thinking ‘what if it’s died and I don’t know’ (I had a MMC last year). Think I’m going to go for a private scan next week.

Hope those of you who are still positive this round are holding up ok and moreover I hope those of you who are not, are feeling OK about whatever is the next step in your journey.

Kp121 · 26/09/2024 20:33

@Zypig sorry to hear you aren’t feeling great. I’ve had cyclizine before and it’s a bit of a battle deciding which is worse.
I know you must be anxious after your MMC but the sickness is a good sign that things are still progressing.
A scan would help reassure you a bit so if that’s something you decide to do, I hope it’s lovely.

can’t wait to stop the pessaries!
