Sorry correct my levels was *280

CharlieBarlie1 · 10/09/2024 17:15

Hiya,
OTD today and I had a postive! Really wasn't expecting it as been such a long road and never had a positive before ever. First positive was day 12, then retested day 13 and today day 14. I think I had mentally prepared myself for a negative as no symptoms but starting to feel like I should start to believe it!
My clinic haven't offered blood tests is this normal for them to just accept an at home test and not check any levels with blood test?
Also how do I work out how many weeks pregnant I am? Do you add 2 weeks to transfer date?

Sending all the love and best wishes to anyone who didn't get the positive news they deserve this month. I know the feeling of it being so hard to read about other people having a BFP when it hasnt been your month but I really wish it will be your time very soon! Xx

Kp121 · 10/09/2024 17:51

Congrats @CharlieBarlie1 you add on 2 weeks plus the age of your embryo.
so a day 5 embryo would make you 2 weeks and 5 days on day of transfer

positivepetal · 10/09/2024 19:39

@CharlieBarlie1 I also found a quick search on Google there's lots websites for example:

Hi all, been a while since I posted after our IVF (freeze all) in April, then failed FET in July, but today we had our second medicated FET.

Im not talking to anyone other than my husband about things and he needs a break from my constant chatter about it 😂 so here I am!

Last time I had very slow lining build up and transferred on day 29, but we seem to have got the dosages right this time and transferred on day 19. Also persuaded them to add lubion to the cyclogest from 5 days pre-transfer this time. No idea if these things will help but feels good to have less ‘what ifs’.

The transfer was also a lot more straight forward and comfortable this time (bladder less full).

now to wait!

Hi @positivepetal I found this article about HCG helpful a few weeks ago https://theluckyegg.com/2023/12/03/understanding-beta-hcg-levels-after-ivf/

The main thing is that it is increasing steadily which is why they will have asked you to come back.

@CharlieBarlie1 most NHS clinics don’t offer HCG blood tests as routine and even some private don’t either. I’m with NHS so I chose to get a couple of tests done privately through Ultrasound Direct so I could manage my expectations on whether it was a chemical or not, but that’s totally a personal choice and you definitely don’t need to do that.

positivepetal · 11/09/2024 17:04

I had another blood test today and my hcg levels dropped from 288 to 251. They said it's a biochemical pregnancy and most likely non viable. I have to go in for yet another blood test on Friday before I stop my medication! 🥺

We have 2 more Frosties but they are not of high quality..does anyone know if we can go for another cycle instead vs using what's on the freezer?

Kp121 · 11/09/2024 20:18

@positivepetal sorry to hear that. I’ve heard of other people doing another cycle to get more
Frosties. I belive that’s only true for private though. Don’t know if you’re private or nhs.
Not sure if anyone else can confirm but nhs I believe you have to use them

@Zypig i asked about the medication and tapering off etc and got told “stop taking it at 12 weeks, your placenta will be doing everything by then. And ask your midwofe about stopping folic acid and vitamins” think I’ll be doing something like yours though!

Zypig · 11/09/2024 20:27

Sorry to hear that @positivepetal be kind to yourself and give yourself some time to process.

To answer your question, are you doing IVF via the NHS? If so the fertility policy for your region will dictate what order they have to follow. For example I’m in NE London and it says I have to transfer all remaining embryos before starting new fresh rounds (page 7)
https://northeastlondon.icb.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/NHS-North-East-London-Fertility-Policy_FINAL_April-2023.pdf

Obviously if it’s private you can do whatever you want.

Zypig · 11/09/2024 20:30

@Kp121 thanks for the update. This was sort of what I expected them to tell me but I ended up with that more detailed tapering plan! It does mean I stop injections at 10 weeks though which would be amazing! Are you just going to wait it out now until 12 week scan? I think I’m going to cave and get another late next week. I’m just so anxious after losing my first around this time.

Kp121 · 11/09/2024 20:51

Im just nervous about stopping completely and I’ve seen other people having the same worry. Will be nice to be done with the pessaries though.

I’ve booked two more private ones. 😂 my nhs one is at 13w2d so I’ve got private ones at 10 and 12 weeks.
For me personally when this cycle was £10k all in, the £60 for the scan is worth the reassurance and the excitement

Zypig · 11/09/2024 21:47

Yea I get that, it seems like a cliff edge to go from all to nothing. I read quite a few studies around that area and it seems like the placenta starts producing estrogen from 5 weeks and progesterone from 8 weeks and it builds from there. So 12 weeks is actually very conservative but I get that they just want a standard that would fit everyone. I’m still waiting for my NHS scan date to come through. I registered at the weekend after my first scan last week as I felt like I was jinxing it if I didn’t wait for that - I realise this sounds mad 😂. I think I’m going to scan next Thursday. Hope your next scans go well @Kp121

Kp121 · 11/09/2024 21:49

Doesn’t sound mad at all. You don’t want to jynx anything. I totally get it.
Hope you don’t have to wait too long for your appointment! Are you going to find out the gender?

Zypig · 12/09/2024 07:31

I think we will use SneakPeak at home gender test but we’re probably going to wait for the 12 week NHS scan before we do it. That way we will only find out the gender if everything is looking OK.

positivepetal · 12/09/2024 09:26

Thanks ladies. We are private. So I assume I can do a fresh cycle whenever we are ready.

Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/09/2024 12:15

Hi everyone, being cautious, have had a positive test this morning ❤️

Coffeeandbannans · 12/09/2024 18:12

I know nobody cares but I'm posting for people like me who look over old threads for what to expect in various situations.

Last week we had our bloods which showed a HCG level of 60. They wanted it to be at least 100 to suggest a viable pregnancy so told me to keep on my progesterone and oestrogen and re-test today.

Today it came back negative, husband had to go away for work last night. We've been trying 6 years. I don't know how much longer I can do this. In a way I'm thankful we only have one embryo left in the freezer.

I won't be posting on here again because i haven't found it supportive, but I hope that my post will provide information to someone in the future if they find themself in the same situation as myself.

Zypig · 12/09/2024 22:05

@Coffeeandbannans I’m so sorry to read this for so many reasons. Appreciate you might not have found the group supportive but for what it’s worth I really do have a huge amount of empathy with you, having felt exactly the same way on many occasions. I’ve done 8 rounds of treatment over several years, including failed collection rounds, failed transfers and a 9week miscarriage after detecting a heartbeat. Each of our journeys are different but I genuinely totally understand the feeling of not knowing how much longer you can go on doing this for. It’s relentless and brutal. There’s nothing I can say to mitigate how you are feeling but at least know that you are not alone on this shitty journey ❤️

llamajohn · 12/09/2024 22:12

We have no more embryos. And it's make factor infertility. We got embryos 6 years ago. Nw I'm 41, I'm not going to do anything more. Husband asked if we could do it again. I just can't.

It's so weird, I tested negative in the second test on Wednesday, but don't believe it? Isn't that silly? Until I bleed, there's like 1% of me that truly believes the tests were wrong.

So I think it's going to bit me harder when I get my period in the next day or so.

Ginie2024 · 13/09/2024 18:30

@Coffeeandbannans thank you for sharing. It is quite painful for me to read these threads but I really admire women like you who have been so strong on such a long journey and are a real inspiration. I actually wanted to thank you for explaining on your last post the way your clinic tests as I used it with my doctor, to question why they didn't test hcg for me, to at least know whether there had even been any implantation at all or if it had gone wrong after just an hour. But he said that's it's just not how they do things there...apparently the failure of my transfer could be due to an overmedication...AF arrived today, l'm just glad it's the weekend and this cycle is officially behind me. It really is a sh*ty process and I hope we all manage to get there in the end - Good luck everyone x

Hi everyone.. need your eyes and experiences please. 5dp5dt today.

can you see a line on my FRER? I wasn’t watching it so it was after the three mins, and might not be pink enough.

I’ve never seen anything close to this before.

My husband can’t see it. First time I’ve ever shown him a test!

I’ve been getting funny sharp pains but that’s it - and they could easily just be digestion though!

I can see the faint line. Mine started like this too. Give it 2/3 days and hopefully you will start seeing it even more clearly 🤞

@Gnatalie16 I can see a faint second line. X

Kp121 · 15/09/2024 16:24

I can see a very faint line too @Sierra26 but very difficult to say without seeing it in person

Loute02 · 15/09/2024 16:34

So I started to bleed quite heavily yesterday evening but it stopped this morning. It was bright red but kind of diluted sorry for the tmi. I called the EPU but they did not ask me to come in as it seems to stop. They advised me to call the IVF clinic to have the scan tomorrow instead of Thursday. I feel so stressed and heartbroken 😔
@Gnatalie16 it reminded me of your post a couple of weeks ago. Did you have a scan after your blood tests?
