That last thread filled up quickly without us noticing. So here is a new one for Scotland.

Thanks for setting that up @IVFlife . I hadn’t a clue what to do 🙈. How are you feeling now?

We had our 20 week scan yesterday (at 19 weeks). All went well 🥰. One very active and wriggly little baby.

@IVFlife Congrats on being PUPO! Feel like you should have a massive celebration given all the hurdles you've had to climb over. I'm sorry the transfer was so traumatic though, definitely not ideal. Did you manage to do something nice yesterday afterwards? Wish I'd asked GCRM now for pictures of our wee embryos. If we ever go completely bonkers and decide to transfer our remaining frostie I'll ask them!

@ivf24 Great to hear you everything was looking good at your 20 week scan :) are you getting growth scans? Know there is quite a bit of variability in where they are offered.

ivf24 · 23/07/2024 12:49

@2mumlife getting growth scans at 28 and 36 weeks and possibly 32 as well. They couldn’t omit a low lying placenta yesterday as couldn’t get a proper view of it because of where baby was lying. She did say it was mostly posterior but they were going to say low lying to be on the safe side. She assured me it’s nothing to worry about at this stage and will likely right itself so may not need the 32 week scan but they request it as a safety net.

Nosejug · 23/07/2024 12:55

Ah I was confused about why I couldn't reply! Glad I thought to search for a new thread :)

@IVFlife was sorry to hear it was a traumatic transfer, but glad to hear how vibrant your embryo was.

We just had transfer which in itself I should be thankful for. Sadly one embryo has stopped at 8 cells and another has only recently gone to 8 cells and deemed too slow. They put back a 4CC. Trying to be positive and keeping up my encouraging of it, but a little sad too. I should just be thankful of where we are.

@IVFlife Hopefully at 28 week scan it'll have moved up, as if the placenta covers the cervix it can really infringe birth choices due to risk of bleeding. Hopefully its all ok though :)

@Nosejug Congrats on being PUPO!! Are they leaving the sloe growing embryo for another day? I know sometimes they'll give it a chance and see if they can freeze on day 6. Are you planning anything nice this afternoon to celebrate the transfer?

Nosejug · 23/07/2024 15:18

@2mumlife thanks :) just sort of managing emotions after transfer. Trying to distract myself, have been looking up positive 4cc stories to keep a wee glimmer of hope. Probably should be done with google for the day! I think a small walk would be beneficial. It’s actually kind of sunny..?! 🌞

IVFlife · 23/07/2024 15:23

@2mumlife we got Mcds fries! But mainly I lay on the sofa and slept on and off. And my parents popped round.

@Nosejug we are very similar dates then. I've heard so many stories of people having succes with all grades of embryo. How are you spending the next 2 weeks?

We've just booked to go away to a hotel next week for a couple of nights. I'm feeling less crampy today. I have a sore head and not sure whether that's the stress or medication or both.

OP posts:
Nosejug · 23/07/2024 18:25

@IVFlife I've had very mild cramping, but transfer was smooth as they'd tried it so many times in the last month (I think 4 in total?) due to stenosis. I had a killer headache the day I had lots of stress during this process, I wonder if hormones make us more prone, and added stress.

I'd lovvve to go away for a wee hotel trip to mark the occasion, but unfortunately have just started my 10hr a day job with an hour driving on either side (lol at taking pessaries lying down in my car at 07:30, hopefully people don't report me to HR!)

I so so so hope we both keep reporting to each other on progress for many months to come ♥️

Ellenn · 23/07/2024 18:31

@ivf24 great your scan went well! It’s a relief to get that out the way, you start to worry what if they find something! Are you going to find out the gender? I had a really low lying placenta during 16 wk scan (ie was at cervix) and by the time I had my anatomy scan at 21 wks it was no where near the cervix so I think as your uterus expands it will move up 🤞 hopefully all good on your next scan!

@IVFlife thanks for setting up the new thread and tagging otherwise I would have been lost 🙈 how are you feeling?

@Nosejug congrats on your transfer! I know someone who had a baby from a 3CC embryo so everything crossed this one sticks around! My clinic told me the lower graded embryos generally don’t freeze/store well but that doesn’t mean they can’t make a baby when used as fresh 🙏

Nosejug · 23/07/2024 19:42

Aw thanks @Ellenn it’s really lovely all the kind wishes and encouraging words :)

LT103 · 23/07/2024 22:23

@Nosejug congrats on the transfer. I wouldn’t worry too much about the grading. Plenty of perfect embryos don’t make it and plenty of lower grade embryos do. This little one has as good a chance as any!!!

ivf24 · 24/07/2024 09:33

Keeping everything crossed for you @Nosejug and @IVFlife . You both deserve a positive outcome so much. My cousin who also had IVF spoke to a friend who is an embryologist and they said not to look too much into grading as it’s very subjective and a snapshot at that particular time. It is hard not to though!

Thanks @Ellenn , that is reassuring. She said they look for the gap from the cervix to be 20mm and line was 18mm so nearly there. 🤞🏼

ivf24 · 24/07/2024 09:37

@Ellenn sorry I forgot to answer your question. No we aren’t going to find out the gender. I did have a moment when the sonographer asked and I considered it but stuck to our decision 😂

We left to go on holiday after our scan on Monday so was a lovely start to our trip.

2mumlife · 24/07/2024 09:53

@Nosejug I really, really wouldn't get hung up on grades. I've had a 5AA result in absolutely nothing. To be honest, I don't even know what grade my embryos that have resulted in pregnancy are (they were somewhere middle-ish), because I learnt it means bugger all really. Also someone told me recently on one of these threads that female embryos develop more slowly. Also there is nothing like doing pessaries in weird places 😂

@IVFlife We did McDs after one of our transfers :D bit random but on our successful transfers we ended up popping into Asda in Ibrox on the way home 😂 A few nights away sounds ideal. Hopefully the headache passes soon.

@ivf24 Enjoy the holiday :) Sounds like you've got a really good chance placenta will shift up by next scan

IVFlife · 24/07/2024 13:15

@nosejug I really hope so too.

My plan at the moment is not to test until otd which for my clinic is 13 days.

Today I've had some what maybe feels like cervix pain. Sort of shooting pain. Not severe but noticeable. Not sure if it's the pessaries irritating it.

OP posts:
IVFlife · 25/07/2024 18:08

I'm having some stabby type pains in ovary area particularly on right side but occasionally left so goodness knows what that means if anything. And my boobs are slightly achey without a bra on but that isn't a new symptom for me as a few months ago I had very very tender boobs and 100% wasn't preg and was likely caused by the hormones I was on at the time. So v hard to read anything into anything. I'm 3dp5dt

OP posts:
Nosejug · 27/07/2024 18:25

Same @IVFlife with some ovary pain, I wonder if this is just them settling down after having been expanded. I had some mild cramping on Friday and thought about it timidly as a good thing then remembered it was probably bc I'd left the house in a hurry without my usual morning routine (digestions related!)

I couldn't say I feel anything very different, but am enjoying this short spell on hopefulness. I'd almost rather just continue this than finding anything out. Work has sucked every hour from my weekday, leave at 6 home at 7! Just time to eat dinner, pack a lunch and watch one show! I use my driving time as thinking about the embryo time. Hope you're all doing well and enjoying some sun!!

IVFlife · 27/07/2024 19:07

So despite my intentions of not testing until OTD I caved today and got BFP. I'm in utter shock right now!!!!!

@IVFlife amazing news!!!! Congratulations 😁

Nosejug · 28/07/2024 06:13

Ahhaaaa!!! @IVFlife that is brilliant! Very happy for you.

Nosejug · 28/07/2024 06:13

Ahhaaaa!!! @IVFlife that is brilliant! Very happy for you.

Thank you so much. I think embryo implanted quite early as was pretty hatched at transfer and had judging by my cramps I think implantation happened quite early. Purely speculating but I think that's maybe why we have a digital pos so early.

OP posts:
Ellenn · 28/07/2024 09:56

@IVFlife amazing News!!! So happy to hear this, I hope it continues well!! You must be so happy. Does your clinic do any bloods or just the usual home tests?

Nosejug · 28/07/2024 09:58

@IVFlife i mean, when you mentioned the cramp pain I obviously thought it might be implantation but didn’t want to say anything! I can tell you were being careful with your hopes too (outwardly anyway!) Och I mean everyone deserves a positive result but from all you’ve been through it’s very lovely news to have. Bask in it a while!!

I was like hmmm I could test early, but I read that the trigger shot meds (specifically) could give me a false reading (I know that’s not the case for you) and that would be pretty difficult. Any symptoms for me I know fine well I’ve had at some point or another throughout the years of trying so I’m well practiced at scepticism.

are you able to share the news with anyone? (I can’t remember if you’ve told us about a DP, don’t want to assume.)
