That last thread filled up quickly without us noticing. So here is a new one for Scotland.

@Autumn245 if it helps, I looked back there and we submitted consents on 9 September. Had a call couple days later to ask couple things then had nurses call today and were ok to start on cd1 so you should hear pretty quick I think!

Ooh fingers crossed my clinic are as quick as yours! We are Aberdeen, and from previous experience they aren't the fastest. But then again last time it was NHS funded so maybe private funded is quicker

2mumlife · 18/09/2024 13:06

@LT103 Interesting they were pushing testing, especially as there is always a risk when thawing that an embryo doesn't make it. Wishing you best of luck for your cycle!

@Autumn245 I've always found things move quickly after the consents, because the consents are only valid for about 3 months or something like that!

Cesas · 18/09/2024 20:00

We are in Aberdeen too and would agree, feel nothing moves too fast. We just had our consents filled in the end of August for our second cycle. Don't have a start date yet, but I think it will be my period due the mid-end of October.

If it's any help our nurse appointment is 3 weeks after our last consultant appointment. So hopefully you won't wait too long @Autumn245 .

LT103 · 18/09/2024 22:27

@2mumlife i was a bit wary of that too. To be honest I felt a bit like it was a money thing. I know there are obvious benefits to testing but I’ve already had 2 transfers, second being successful. Why suggest it now? I really didn’t want to thaw and refreeze eggs to thaw again. Surely that would have an effect on them?

Autumn245 · 19/09/2024 06:36

Forgot to update last night. Got home from work and had a letter saying nurses appointment on 3rd Oct so not too long to wait. I'm due period the week after so fingers crossed they can start me then, as I'll be doing a natural cycle.

LT103 · 19/09/2024 06:48

@Autumn245 exciting. Were natural cycle too so we may end up being similar time for transfer. I’m thinking our transfer will be around 20th October going by my calculations

Autumn245 · 19/09/2024 07:19

@LT103 if we manage tranfer in October, we should be around 26th-28th so only a week behind you! Have you done a natural cycle before? This will be my first cycle since having my daughter with IVF so I've no idea what to expect or what I need to ask the nurse

2mumlife · 19/09/2024 08:56

@LT103 It does seem strange to suggest it for embryos already frozen. Very much a personal decision though.

LT103 · 22/09/2024 01:18

@Autumn245 ive had 2 natura transfers before. First was an empty sac and second our son. But pre piously it was a fully natural cycle with an injection on day of transfer only. This time around they’ve changed protocol so it’s more a modified natural. I take a trigger shot for ovulation then progesterone pessaries for up to 12 weeks so it’s different but just need to see how it goes.
good luck to you when it comes! Will be here before we know it

IVFlife · 24/09/2024 12:36

Hey. I dknt think I updated this I physically miscarried just over 2 weeks ago at home but then the placenta got stuck and I hemmorhaged and had to go into hosp...via a&e on a Friday night which was wild but staff were good. All very scary.

My pregnancy tests are still positive but getting fainter. I'm not allowed back on hrt until they have gone completely negative. I had a scan at mat unit on Friday and they said they couldn't see anything left. We buried our tiny baby in the garden at the weekend.

We've booked a review appointment for next week. I've been told testing for sticky blood will take 6 months. I really am keen to try some blood thinners with next round. Has anyone had blood thinners without a sticky blood diagnosis? If so what clinic? Hoping to do another transfer before Christmas.

How is everyone?

@IVFlife I'm so, so sorry to hear you've had extra complications during an already really difficult process. You just can't seem to get a break. Its very unfair. I hope that you'll be able to do some emotional and physical healing after everything you've been through.

Did they do any testing to see if there was a reason for the miscarriage (i.e. chromosomal etc?). Just wondering if there is anything that indicates sticky blood is the cause rather than something else, just as chromosomal issues would be the most common reason? I've no experience with blood thinners sorry x

Nosejug · 25/09/2024 07:38

Oh @IVFlife I'm so sorry to read your update. The haemorrhage must have been terrifying. I've been through similar, and the experience takes a while to diminish. I'm glad you were well cared for. I don't know the right words, it must have been so sad burying your tiny baby, but I'm also glad you were able to. I know I'd want to do similar.

It's good to hear you're looking at another transfer once your body and mind are ready. I might be getting mixed up between stories, but is that your DE? Either way, I'm really glad to hear that your journey is continuing.

Nosejug · 26/09/2024 19:24

Well we had some news this month, in the first cycle since failed ivf we had a spontaneous pregnancy. I was completely shocked. Had an almost 7 week scan today and sadly there was only the yolk sac but no embryo. I've never had a pregnancy before, so I don't know what miscarriage will be like. We're feeling pretty devastated.

LT103 · 27/09/2024 08:52

Oh @Nosejug im so sorry to hear this. Our first ivf cycle was an anembryonic pregnancy too. Sending you lots of hugs.
we chose surgical management rather than medical as it wasn’t going naturally. But that was just personal choice. Hope you’re ok

IVFlife · 27/09/2024 11:23

So sorry nosejug. What options have they given you? Happy to answer anything about my recent one if helpful.

OP posts:
Nosejug · 27/09/2024 11:31

Thanks both. I have a scan a week on Monday I suppose to confirm no growth. I kind of hope I just miscarry naturally before then. I’m terrified of another haemorrhage, if I’m honest I’m still scared of a heavy period so I don’t really know how to handle that. Just kind of feel it’s never going to happen now. It took three years to get this far.

2mumlife · 27/09/2024 15:19

@Nosejug I’m so sorry to hear your news. Hope as you say that things just end naturally for you so you can do some healing x

He11oKitty · 04/10/2024 20:05

Hello ladies, I’m a first time poster but long time lurker of this thread. Hope it’s ok if I join? 🙂 I’m about to do the first embryo transfer tomorrow, feeling excited but also very nervous. Any tips? I know about the McDonald’s…. fries right? Also beetroot juice, ginger and watermelon? Anything else? I’ve been really tired with the progesterone so I’m hoping that resolves but any tips for that would be good too.

also hope it’s ok to say but really gutted for the recent news for you @Nosejug @IVFlife 🙁 you are all warriors, sending you all a big hug 💐

IVFlife · 04/10/2024 20:54

@He11oKitty hello! Welcome
Good luck for tomorrow. I took pomegranate juice. Also rested a lot after transfer. I was very crampy afterwards

OP posts:
He11oKitty · 04/10/2024 22:53

@IVFlife good to know! I’ve been chugging away at the pomegranate juice too for the last two weeks 😆

2mumlife · 05/10/2024 11:57

@He11oKitty Hope your transfer went well. Honestly, I would just advice trying to get on with your life as normal - try to remain positive, try not to get sucked into the temptation to test early, and try to just do things that make you feel happy and relaxed. Wishing you best of luck

Nosejug · 06/10/2024 10:36

@He11oKitty very best of luck! seconding 2mumlife about not testing early. whatever the outcome, try and enjoy these two weeks. people kept congratulating me on being 'PUPO' a phrase I was new to. But as I'd never been pregnant before it felt quite nice connecting to the little dot I was hoping would grow. I tried different things, eating certain foods, but mostly it was for fun. I'm not really sure you can positively or negative affect the outcome at this point which hopefully is a comfort. I just kept telling it what a nice life I'd try and give it and how loved it'd be :)

IVFlife · 06/10/2024 18:11

Hello. How are you all? It feels super autumnal now doesn't it?

We had our review appointment this week. Consultant said we don't need to change anything for next round. I guess from and ivf clinics perspective getting to 8 and a half weeks is successful, I'm glad my counsellor gave me the heads up that this might be their take on it. I was really keen to explore blood thinners but equally I won't go against their advice and they don't advise it.

He was really reassuring about my cervical polyp and said he thinks because it's tiny and it was a positional issue getting the catheter in then he thinks it won't cancel a future transfer it will just mean some moving around etc. So that made me feel better.

I'm still testing positive at the moment. And I've already passed the time they wanted me to be negative by so we gave it one more week and was still positive so GP has now got me to have blood tests - urgent same day ones very efficient and those will be repeated on Thursday. So hopefully we can get it back down to negative levels and then I can go back on my own normal hrt.

I need to do a cycle of that and then after the bleed we can go onto clinics meds for transfer. I'm really missing my own hrt. Due to premature ovarian insufficiency I'm having horrible menopausal symptoms now.

I'm trying to use this time to get some weight down.

Hey all. Just to say we welcomed a boy born yesterday evening at home :) really pleased with our home-birth experience. Feeling very grateful to have been so lucky on our ivf journey.

Hope everyone is doing well
