Hello! I wondered if anybody else has recently tested positive after a transfer and would like to chat and pass the next few nerve wracking weeks with me? 😊

I had my FET on 27th June and my OTD was yesterday 🎉

I know there's other similar threads out there at the min with really lovey ladies on there, but they all seem to be 8-10 weeks ahead so I thought it might be nice to share a new one.

Congratulations @Lrv1987 and @ScullyLyf

@lemonyfox im feeling similar to you I think, with sore boobs and just a lot more tired than usual! I’ve had some low level nausea but that comes and goes.

Two weeks to go for me until my scan.

I went to the pharmacy today to pick up the rest of my meds to get me to just over 10 weeks. Hopefully the last big ivf spend 🤞🏻

Hope everyone is having a good day.

lemonyfox · 16/07/2024 18:21

@ScullyLyf I'm feeling okay to be honest. Had mega sore boobs at the weekend but they've gone now (trying not to over think about that). Now it's just generally more tired than usual.

@Always28 yes! You never realise that the IVF meds costs continue even when you're successful 😂 love how expensive lubion is

Hi Guys! Can I join? I was on the June 2024 FET thread with some of you @lemonyfox @Always28 !

I'm 7+5 today, we had our transfer on 11th June. This will hopefully be our second baby, have a DD who is 2.5. My transfer date was 3 years to the day of my DD so my due date is exactly same as hers!

We had a rough ride since DD trying for a sibling. In the last 2 years we've had 3 transfers which resulted in a chemical, a failure and a miscarriage, a cancelled transfer, a surprise pregnancy that ended in miscarriage, a hysteroscopy and another egg retrieval.

I'm incredibly anxious about this pregnancy so can completely relate to some of your posts. But I am trying to remind myself that I am pregnant and all is well until I know otherwise. But it's hard.

I had betas done at 13dp5dt and 15dp5dt which showed strong doubling numbers. I had my first scan last Thursday, baby was measuring 6+6 (so one day behind 7w) and heartbeat of 132 so they were very happy with that 🤞🏻 I have next scan on 24th at 8+6, I think I'll feel some reassurance after that once I see baby has grown and the little heartbeat is still beating away ❤️❤️

Symptoms are very strong - if it was possible to die of tiredness I'd be dead 🤣🤣 quite nauseous from early on, threw up this morning for first time 🤢 lots of vaginal discharge and sore boobs!!

So excited to have some company on this journey xx

lemonyfox · 17/07/2024 13:24

@hja62 hello from the other thread and congrats on getting to 7+5! Sorry you're feeling so tired, mines the same but maybe doesn't sound as extreme as yours lol.

Gosh what a journey you've been done, you're so strong for getting through it. I know we've all been through shit to get to this point, we wouldn't be having ivf without it, but I really feel for you and others when I hear your stories.

You mentioned you had a surprise pregnancy in between it all, what's the reason for your infertility do you mind me asking? How come you're getting scans quite often, is that because of the previous losses?

My first scan is next Thursday on 25th and it can't come soon enough. Im not normally a worrier or anxious but I just keep thinking what if it's bad news next week. Gaaahhhh.

hja62 · 17/07/2024 15:29

@lemonyfox completely agree re. the anxiety!! I'm usually a confident, it will be ok, kind of person but this has turned me into a nervous wreck! My symptoms are coming and going a little bit, the fact the baby was a day or two behind keeps playing on my mind despite being told it's totally normal. I'm a mess!

We are in that frustrating "unexplained" bracket. No identifiable cause on either side despite numerous investigations. Our surprise pregnancy in April 2023 was our first every natural pregnancy since coming off contraception in 2018 - it was a huge shock and we were thrilled. Our first scan (when I thought it was around 7 weeks), baby was measuring 5 days behind with heart rate of 101 (if I remember correctly). Doctor said it was 50:50. I could have my dates wrong and baby is actually on track - which would have been entirely plausible as I'd long since given up tracking ovulation, or it wasn't viable. Unfortunately, at our scan a week later there was no heartbeat 😔

My scan last week was with the IVF clinic at 7 weeks for viability. I have decided to go private for my maternity care - I did with DD and really took comfort from the extra attention. My obstetrician offers an early scan around 8/9 weeks so my scan next week is with him. I'll be scanned monthly after that and every 2 weeks in third trimester.

GOL · 17/07/2024 15:37

Hello everyone and congratulations to all of you who have had a BFP recently! Yesterday was my OTD and I saw my BFP (on 3 different tests) for the first time ever! I did my FET on 5th July, so I should be 4 weeks + 3. Yesterday was also our 2nd anniversary and I was very calm and happy, but today I woke up very stressed and panicked thinking about all the things that could go wrong. I'm booked for my first scan on 6th August but I don't know how I would tolerate this waiting game. I thought about doing multiple private blood tests to ensure that my hcg level goes up as it should, or perhaps a private scan at 5 weeks although I know there won't be much clarity on that. I'm on NHS so I doubt if they accept to do any blood tests. How often do you guys keep testing at home, daily or every other day? I might start doing this but I'm also worried that any lighter colour might cause a big worry.

lemonyfox · 17/07/2024 16:24

@hja62 I can sympathise with the coming and going of symptoms, I'm the same. I even forgot for a while this week that I was pregnant, which was weird. I'm wishing for morning sickness which is crazy!

Oh god how frustrating for you. You must have been through so many different tests and to be told unexplained must be so frustrating.

I didn't even know you could go private, what a great idea. Is it quite expensive? You don't have to say if you'd rather not! In my first pregnancy, I lived in a different area and they were running this continuity of care pilot where I had the same midwife through all my pre and antenatal care as well as birth. I really, really appreciated it and I'm sad I won't have that this time.

Hi @GOL welcome and congrats!! So many of us which is amazing!!

I did twice daily tests from 4dp5dt 😂 I stopped once I got my 3+ on a clear blue digital, but honestly I feel like doing more every few days just to be on the safe side

OP posts:
Always28 · 17/07/2024 16:28

Hi @hja62 :) and welcome @GOL

i stopped testing two days after my official test date. I decided at that point that it would stress me out to keep testing (although I’m still tempted to!)

My symptoms are coming and going too! I’m terrified of the first scan and keep getting so worried about the outcome. It’s so hard not being able to control anything.

hja62 · 17/07/2024 18:10

@lemonyfox oh glad im not the only one with symptoms coming and going!! I was very sick with DD, not quite as sick this time around. Never thought I'd be wishing to be sicker 🙈

I'm based in Ireland. It costs me about €3,000 for the consultant, and the hospital stay and any medical costs relating to delivery is covered by my health insurance. I really valued the continuity of care, just like you did with the pilot scheme. It's so comforting seeing the same face every time. My consultant scans me at every appointment, and with DD I had a planned section due to unstable lie and he did the section. It was so comforting going into theatre that morning and seeing his face among the sea of strangers.

hja62 · 17/07/2024 18:13

@GOL congratulations and welcome!!! I'm so sorry you're going to have to wait until 6 August for reassurance, I can totally relate to the anxiety 😔

I wouldn't waste your money on a private scan at 5 weeks. I'd be surprised if anywhere will even see you that early, most won't scan until 6 weeks as they'll be nothing to see before then. If you could get s couple of betas done you should get some reassurance seeing them doubling?

I tested from 4dp5dt right up to my second beta at 15dp5dt. I drove myself nuts. My progression wasn't consistent even though my beta more than doubled. It's a personal decision if you'll get reassurance from it!

Always28 · 18/07/2024 10:31

Morning everyone

I’m 5w+5 today. With my DS, my nausea really kicked in at 6 weeks exactly so I think I’m sort of counting down to that which is probably a bad idea, as I know every pregnancy can be different!

I woke up with a really dry mouth and weird taste today, despiste having drank a lot yesterday (and woken up in the night for a wee!), so I’m wondering if it’s a symptom 🤔.

lemonyfox · 19/07/2024 08:25

@hja62 honestly that does sound like a really lovely experience, I would definitely go for it again in your shoes.

I tested from 4dp5dt too and in hindsight it was crazy, I did get a faint line on my first test but still. It becomes obsessive.

@Always28 I still don't have any symptoms other than tiredness either. I can't quite remember in my first pregnancy when it kicked in, but I do remember the nausea and smell aversions. It was coffee and washing powder and fabric softener for me. Particularly the Comfort Blue one, god that stuff was vile. I'm still happily drinking decaf coffee currently though so no aversions yet.

I think metallic mouth is an early pregnancy symptom!

OP posts:
Always28 · 19/07/2024 09:02

@lemonyfox yes, I had lots of food and smell aversions too first time round. But nothing like that so far - although I’m pretty sure that was a little later previously too.

I also tested super early - from 5dpt. As it was positive I’m glad I did, but had it been a negative result overall, I think I would have probably regretted testing early.

I feel fairly normal this morning other than sore boobs. It just basically feels like a very slow countdown to the scan - and I half want to get there for the reassurance, and I half don’t want to even have the scan because I’m so scared at the same time.

I’m off today so just doing a few jobs and then thinking of maybe escaping the heat in the cinema for a couple of hours. Just debating whether I think I can focus on a film!

lemonyfox · 19/07/2024 09:12

@Always28 definitely, keep busy and take your mind off it! I'm abroad atm for work and it's 36c 😂 I'm hiding indoors with the aircon

OP posts:
hja62 · 19/07/2024 11:15

@lemonyfox @Always28 the smells 🤢🤢 can totally relate. Hand soap and deodorant are huge triggers for me at the moment, had to buy unscented versions of both, it was same with last pregnancy!!

Our office has these air fresheners around the place which I used to think smelt lovely...I'm debating secretly hiding them all and playing stupid if someone wonders where they've gone 🤣🤣

Also gone off tea and coffee....I really miss my coffee 😭

hja62 · 19/07/2024 11:19

Also I had a lot more food aversions last pregnancy - if it was beige and ultra processed then that was all I wanted 🙈

This time I'm having serious cravings for hearty home cooking - full roast dinner, spaghetti bolognese, homemade soup, lasagne, shepherds pie!! DH is just an ok cook, it just wouldn't hit the spot 🙈 so I've been cooking up a storm to satisfy my cravings which has been really bizarre 🤣🤣

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 19/07/2024 12:36

Congratulations and welcome @ScullyLyf and @hja62 sorry to hear you've both had some sad outcomes previously but glad to hear you've got BFPs this time!

@GOL congratulations too, and how lovely to get your first ever positive on your anniversary! I'm sorry you're feeling anxious, I think it's hard for anyone who's had any fertility issues - all the usual fears of early pregnancy plus knowing how far you've had to come just to reach this stage magnifies the stress of the "what if something goes wrong?" thoughts

I've stayed away for a few days as I didn't want to bring the mood down, unfortunately I had a small bleed on Tuesday. It only lasted a few hours and was a small amount, and then I just had a bit of brown discharge which has now stopped. The clinic were very reassuring about this being common, but it has obviously made me much more nervous for Mondays 7w scan! I am still having the same symptoms (including some mild waves of nausea, which has become a bit more frequent over the last couple of days) but I don't know if that would be normal even if something has gone wrong for the HCG to still be in your system and giving those symptoms for a few days?

One thing I was wondering is, how do you know the progesterone dose is correct for your levels, as I've never had a blood test post-transfer? Those of you on lubion or other forms (I only have 2 pessaries a day), was this just because of previous losses or have they tested and realised you needed extra?

lemonyfox · 19/07/2024 13:28

@hja62 how far along are you now?

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday oh I'm sorry about the worry you've had but hopefully it settles soon, I think bleeding in early pregnancy is more common in IVF pregnancies.

I asked my clinic this and they said everyone goes on the "standard" progesterone amount (which for my clinic is 1 lubion AM and 1 pessary PM) unless there is a miscarriage, they'll then test progesterone and increase if needed. I was told if your progesterone isn't high enough then you'd likely have constant breakthrough bleeding all the time.

OP posts:
ScullyLyf · 19/07/2024 14:09

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday my first transfer my period started bang on time, didn’t make it to otd. I was on 2 pessaries then so they added 1 lubion injection & I’ve always made it to test date since. Never had my levels tasted.

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 19/07/2024 14:57

Thank you both that's reassuring that others aren't getting routine tests, and my progesterone levels are probably okay as on my previous transfer (BFN) I only bled a few days after coming off progesterone, with no spotting at all. I haven't had any implantation or other spotting, apart from this one bleed, I would just hate to lose a viable embryo due to low progesterone when it could so easily be corrected. We'll have to see what Monday brings!

hja62 · 19/07/2024 16:06

@lemonyfox 8+1 today 🤞🏻

@IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday so sorry to hear you had a small bleed. It's so so worrying but it's a good sign that it's stopped again. My progesterone has not been tested post-transfer. Similar to @lemonyfox I think we're just all put on the same dose which (when I asked my doctor before) is "more than enough". I'm taking 2 crinone gels a day, and also prolutex injections (although I don't think this is standard but a previous doctor put me on it for my successful transfer with DD so my current doctor felt just stick with same protocol).

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 20/07/2024 00:01

@hja62 congrats on making it into week 8, it's nice that each passing week the chance of bringing a baby home jumps up reassuringly!

Thanks for sharing your progesterone experience too, I do feel reassured that it mostly seems to be an abundance of precaution to increase doses - definitely made sense for you to stick with a tried and tested method!

Hollielouise · 20/07/2024 08:06

Morning 👋🏼 I hope it's ok to join. I'm on various groups with some of you I think! I'm
Now 6+3 and have my scan on Tuesday 23rd July, a day after my son's 4th birthday! 😬

How is everyone's symptoms? Mine seem so inconsistent and come and go a lot. Is anyone else on prontagest? I'm finding them so painful and wondering if I should ask to swap to Lubion?

hja62 · 20/07/2024 08:20

Hi @Hollielouise ! Yeah my symptoms come and go - tiredness seems to be a constant, but the nausea and sore boobs go up and down!

Is Prontagest the intramuscular one? I was on that for my first transfer. I'm on prolutex now (which I think it called Lubion in UK). My doctor switched as they are the same in his opinion and prolutex is into the abdomen so less painful. I would definitely ask? Those intramuscular ones are so painful, especially daily, so many bruises and lumps!
