IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@wishfulbean welcome! Hoping your scan goes well today - this process is definitely anxiety inducing. This is my first cycle but from others I see every cycle can be completely different so hopefully you get a good result 😊
@Trying4eva ah so glad you’ve seen a line and you’re still in the game! Got absolutely everything crossed for you. I also caved and tested today but I’m not feeling confident at all, got the faintest squinter on a FRER at 7dpt which I’m not 100% convinced isn’t an Evap. Although I saw it within 3 minutes so maybe it’s a real line? It doesn’t even show up on my camera Argh! I’ll definitely be testing every day to see if there’s a progression or not so I can’t give any moral support on holding out (although it’s probably the right thing to do 😂)
@GLizzie88 stay strong! I’m more confused than ever this morning haha.

Capybara95 · 26/08/2024 08:27

@wishfulbean good luck for your scan! Hopefully you get good news and it will settle your nerves a bit.

@Trying4eva that sounds like great news!! I imagine a line would still be faint at 7dpt so I wouldn’t worry too much about how dark it is.

@over30sclub fingers crossed for you the line progresses tomorrow!!

I’m 7dp5dt today and dying to test but my husband wants to wait until OTD. I’ve had lots of cramping and bloating but I know the progesterone can do that. Just feel like this week is going to drag in!!

Capybara95 · 26/08/2024 08:52

Sorry @GLizzie88 just realised I left you off my reply! It’s so frustrating the med symptoms are the same as things that could potentially be good news isn’t it! Are you going to hold out testing?

GLizzie88 · 26/08/2024 09:28

We're trying not to test early, but I'm 'lucky' (?!) That our hospital tests 9dp5dt, so will find out for certain on Friday. I have a blood test and it tells me my hcg level so even if it's negative we'll have an idea if it even took or not. Very.very.nervous. we came away for the bank holiday weekend to take our minds off it, but I'm so nervous about going home now!

Capybara95 · 26/08/2024 09:30

@GLizzie88 aw I wish our hospital did a blood test too but they don’t. Yes it’s good to have things planned to keep you busy isn’t it.

I’m already thinking I need to plan something for this weekend. Hopefully to celebrate but also to take our minds off it if not. We went away for the night last time and it really helped cheer us up a bit.

BakinABaby · 26/08/2024 09:47

Finger crossed for you you’ll get a stronger line in the days to come @over30sclub

I’m three days past egg collection and to be frank I’m finding it so much harder this time. I’m just so afraid they’re gonna call me there’s nothing to transfer. I got just one embryo last time and this time I had fewer eggs retrieved to begin with. Just now I got a text from my clinic and my heart sank only for it to be an automated reminder for my transfer appointment on wednesday. I just hate this process so much. It doesn’t help that a friend who is doing IVF too found out last week none of hers made it to day 5.

Hat24 · 26/08/2024 11:40

Well done to all you two week wait warriors! Keep going!

@wishfulbean welcome! I'm at a very similar stage to you, just had egg collection confirmed for Thursday. Sorry the last round was tricky, hopefully this will be the one for you!

Trying4eva · 26/08/2024 15:04

@over30sclub let is know tomorrow…

Zeeha · 26/08/2024 17:55

@over30sclub all the best for testing tomorrow if you do! I'm terrible for early testing with cheapies even when I know there's hardly any chance of a line. I guess I know the trigger is out my system though. You're two days ahead of me if it was a 5 day transfer and my clinic has the 1st September as my official test date, so I would have thought the 30th August would be a good bet!

It's so hard keeping busy as to distract yourself from the wait of not knowing. You'd of thought with medical advances that by now you'd be able to know sooner or that they'd even be able to mimic implantation!

Capybara95 · 26/08/2024 18:10

@BakinABaby sorry you’re finding the wait hard, it really is a nerve wracking one. Will your clinic not give you an update on how they’re doing in between? Fingers crossed for you for good luck on Wednesday.

@over30sclub good luck for testing 🤞🏼

hope everyone else is getting through the 2ww ok!

Lil89 · 26/08/2024 18:59

It's so nice reading everyone's update, I have my next scan planned for Wednesday for an update before Egg Collection booked for Friday 30th 😣 I feel so far behind everyone else on here!

Trying4eva · 26/08/2024 20:02

After getting a positive this morning I feel like my symptoms have vanished - I’d been getting spots on my chest and face and boobs no longer sore. Anyone else have symptoms that come and go?

thursday and OTD cannot come quick enough.

over30sclub · 27/08/2024 07:19

Hope everyone is doing OK this morning

Stark white BFN on 2 tests I’ve done this morning. FRER so I would assume at 8dpt I would have seen something by now, yesterday must have just been a shadow.
I’ll be waiting til my official test day to be certain but I’m pretty sure I’m out of the game, absolutely gutted.

Trying4eva · 27/08/2024 08:02

@over30sclub really sorry to hear this. There’s still hope though…

Capybara95 · 27/08/2024 08:03

@over30sclub so sorry you had a negative test this morning. Hopefully you can take some time to process today. But would always say you’re not out until OTD definitely keep taking any meds you’re on.

GLizzie88 · 27/08/2024 09:28

@over30sclub I'm so sorry to hear you've had a negative today. It is still earlier though, I've thought if I didn't have my blood test I wouldn't be testing until the weekend (10 / 11dpt) just incase.
My symptoms seem to be subsiding. Partner has absolute faith, I'm not convinced. I have no idea what the next steps are if it doesn't work, so I'm speaking with the hospital today to be able to get an idea of plan B now that we don't have any frozen. I'm trying to protect myself I think.

Trying4eva · 27/08/2024 09:34

@GLizzie88 i feel exactly the same. Remind me how many dpt are you? Have you tested?

GLizzie88 · 27/08/2024 09:38

@Trying4eva I'm 6dpt, haven't tested yet. Have a blood test for it on Friday so we want to wait until then. We have to wait about 5 hours for the results though!

BakinABaby · 27/08/2024 09:52

@over30sclub I’m so sorry it hasn’t worked out for you 😢 I’d think 8dpt is pretty definitive, but I’d stay on the meds just a bit longer just in case. Hope you’ll recover.

Zeeha · 27/08/2024 10:52

Hi @over30sclub I've read on a few websites that implantation after transfer is typically anywhere between 1-5 days afterwards. If it happened for you later on in that period and your base hcg is on the lower end, then a positive wouldn't show for you yet, so please don't give up hope!

Hat24 · 27/08/2024 11:55

@over30sclub I have everything crossed for you that it's just a slow burner!

I have my egg collection on Thurs. Any tips, everyone?

GLizzie88 · 27/08/2024 12:08

@Hat24 definitely rest after. I had to get some co codamol for home to get me through the rest of the day. Take some good food to look forward to in your room after it too!

Capybara95 · 27/08/2024 12:15

@Hat24 good luck for tomorrow! Definitely wear loose comfy clothes and shoes that are easy to slip on and off. And just make sure you don’t have to go anywhere or do anything for a few days after! I was still quite sore.

In terms of the actual procedure just try not to worry it really isn’t bad at all you won’t feel a thing and you’ll be well looked after!

Daniki · 27/08/2024 12:35

@over30sclub I wouldn't rule yourself out yet! Praying you get your BFP soon 🙌

@Hat24 defo loose comfy clothes, relax and lie up for the rest day get a nice take away. Defo co codomol is was quite sore for a few days after. Best of luck! 🤞🏻

GLizzie88 · 28/08/2024 06:36

Hi ladies, how are we all doing today? I'm exhausted, this wait is painful. I feel sure it's not worked now, feels like I'm waiting for the inevitable 😞. Don't want to test early incase I get a false positive or negative.
