IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

Sending hugs @Sineadttc so sorry to hear your news. It’s so tough!

Sorry not sure of the etiquette on these forums, I still keep reading even though mine’s not worked this time as still want to hear how you’re all doing and rooting for you all! Hope that’s ok.

I was also going to say @over30sclub I found my transfer very painful too, wasn’t sure if it was just me! They had nice music on but it was v uncomfortable until she seemed to switch catheter and then it was better.

@camelinastorm I know it’s hard with other pregnancy announcements amongst friends, I skipped the BBQ on Sunday as was sad about my test and was so glad I did as my partner came back and said two friends there announced pregnancies with their third child each 🤪 obviously happy for them but was also thinking can a girl please catch a break?!! Only want one! 🙏

Thanks for all your kind messages ladies, hope this week goes well for you all x

over30sclub · 20/08/2024 20:41

@camelinastorm sorry you’re experiencing that with family - it seems so difficult for people to be sensitive when they haven’t been through something like this. We get the uncomfortable questions at every family gathering - choosing not to tell people because just feel like it’s enough pressure already without people asking us every 10 minutes what stage we’re at!
@Daniki so hard isn’t it when being genuinely happy for your friends but also selfishly feel jealous especially when it happens so easily. Hopefully our times come soon x
@LimeBird hope you’re taking care, definitely stay its a nice community no matter what stage I would say :) I’m glad it wasn’t just me (although I’m sorry you also had pain!!) Im so grateful I was able to do a fresh transfer but was just disappointed as I was expecting it to be so smooth and a nice moment for my husband and I, no point dwelling though!

GLizzie88 · 21/08/2024 09:49

@Daniki Wow I'm surprised you haven't had any updates!! We've had our day 5 update this morning, we've got ET at lunchtime! I daren't buy any tests - we're having a hospital blood test and I'd be too tempted to test before actual day with will be 9dp5dt.
We haven't told our family either, I'm so sorry @camelinastorm that's so frustrating.
@LimeBird of course you're welcome!! Just look after yourself. I'm SO sorry about the pregnancy announcements when you're just going through this right now. Urgh!

camelinastorm · 21/08/2024 11:51

@GLizzie88 I hope the transfer went smoothly and you are feeling ok

Zeeha · 21/08/2024 13:27

Hi everyone! I hope you're all well. I've just had my first ever transfer. It was very uncomfortable to start with. Then they changed to a longer speculum that came from the warmer and felt like it was burning my insides which was awful! They then asked me to empty my bladder and my gosh it was so much better with an empty bladder! Of 6 eggs collected, 5 fertilised, just had a 5AA transferred, a 4AA frozen and they're leaving the others overnight incase they develop to a point where they'd be worth freezing too. Now for the two week wait!

Daniki · 21/08/2024 13:28

@GLizzie88 oh wow, best of luck how did you get on? Did you have many embryos today? Yea they just said we wouldn't hear anything until Thursday, the suspense!! I have started Fematab again preparing for frozen transfer as my bleed started yest. Have a scan booked for the 2nd of sep(first day back to school 😩) and see from there!

Daniki · 21/08/2024 13:31

@Zeeha hope it went well and you have a sticky baby! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏

GLizzie88 · 21/08/2024 13:43

@Zeeha that's really good news.
I've had to stop myself googling now, my best was a 2BB and I don't think that's a great grading. But who knows. I found the process absolutely fine (full bladder aside). Now I have a 9 day wait until we go for our hospital blood test to find out the result!

@Daniki thank you, how are you doing? This is the harder bit really, I'm sure the next 9 days will feel the same! Do you know when you'll get a transfer?

BakinABaby · 21/08/2024 15:35

Just had my first ultrasound on day 8. I think the doc was surprised how baked I was. Had a ganirelix shot right there, one more at home tomorrow and ovitrelle trigger tonight. EC friday morn. Quite unexpected, last time I stimmed for 13 days, this time only 7. I guess I responded a lot more on this protocol and med. 10 sizable follicles she counted, though I think 2 - 4 of those are too small to be ripe in time.

over30sclub · 21/08/2024 17:49

@Zeeha sounds like you had a similar experience to me, hope you’re feeling ok now! Great news that you also managed to get one frozen x

@GLizzie88 glad you had a smooth transfer too and hope you’re feeling good as well! I’m also trying to stay away from Google but every time I feel something weird my fingers are twitching 😂

Onto the longest 9-14 days of our lives ladies 😂

@BakinABaby good luck for your EC on Friday! Sounds like you’re responding really well to the stims. Can’t believe how much treatment differs from clinic to clinic and person to person. Shows that we shouldn’t really google anything too much 😊

Capybara95 · 21/08/2024 18:48

Hi everyone hoping I can join! Currently in my 2ww with a frozen transfer and trying to stay chilled out but it’s so hard when you just want to fast forward and know the answer!!

good luck to everyone else on their journeys!

Zeeha · 21/08/2024 20:20

Thank you and best of luck for your scan @Daniki

@GLizzie88 Is that the one they transferred for you? It's crazy how different it can be. Three hours before I was told they were both a 3 so they jumped to a 5 and a 4 really quickly! I don't have a blood test as far as I'm aware. Is that so you can find out sooner? They gave me a Clearblue test and said to test on the 1st September as they're policy is 11 days after.

@over30sclub I'm feeling completely back to normal! Just need to remember to not have hot baths ☺️ I hope all went well for you and thank you!

Fingers crossed for you @Capybara95

over30sclub · 21/08/2024 21:37

@Capybara95 welcome! How many days post transfer are you? finding it really hard to chill out already and I’m only 2dpt! The clinic told me my test date is 14dpt which seems so much longer than others don’t know if I’ll be able to hold out!
@Zeeha glad you’re feeling ok 😊 I know what you mean I’d love a hot bath right now 😂 I’ve been crampy and bloated since the transfer but I don’t know whether that’s to do with the progesterone injections trying not to read into it too much!

nicky0 · 21/08/2024 21:43

It's our transfer day tomorrow. So exciting.

Out of 6 of the retrieved eggs, all were fertilized and dividing as expected.
Our last update was on day 2. The embryologist told us that if we don't hear from them in the next days, it's all good news - and luckily, they haven't been in touch with us again, haha. Feeling really grateful and hopeful at the moment.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone who's currently in their TWW, those waiting for their transfer/ER, or getting started with their process xx

Capybara95 · 21/08/2024 21:44

Thank you! @Zeeha @over30sclub I am 2dpt as well! My test day is next Saturday though so 12dpt. Is this your first transfer? Have you taken any time off work or anything for it?

Capybara95 · 21/08/2024 21:47

@nicky0 good luck for tomorrow! Hope your transfer goes well and you get good numbers 🤞🏼

Daniki · 21/08/2024 22:16

@Capybara95 how did you find the frozen transfer did you have much of a wait from the EC?

Will find out in the morning how many (if any) embryos made it to day5! Praying they will.

Jesus I am having such a heavy period 🙈

@GLizzie88 hope the time goes really quick for you!

Capybara95 · 21/08/2024 22:54

@Daniki we are NHS so we had our egg collection and fresh transfer in March which unfortunately led to a negative test then this is our first frozen. We even went private for our review to speed things up by about 3 months and was still such a long wait. But my body feels so much more normal this time compared to straight after egg collection I was still sore and swollen.

are you doing a freeze all round? How many did you have at your last update? Good luck hope you get good numbers 🤞🏼

Daniki · 22/08/2024 02:58

@Capybara95 hopefully this is the round that works for you! 🤞🏻 altho given how I was feeling the few days after EC the rest fit my body is probably needed!
So we didn't hear anything since hearing 9 fertilised they don't tell you anymore until day 5 🙈 I can't get back to sleep and all I can't dreaming about to this point is embryos 😂 it's going to be a looong night!

Trying4eva · 22/08/2024 06:21

Hi at @Capybara95 , @over30sclub @Zeeha i had my transfer on Monday too, so am 3 days PT. This is my 4th transfer. 1st was a chemical, 2nd a 8week miscarriage, 3rd was another chemical. This was 2 fresh, 1 frozen with this being another fresh with nothing in the freezer. Low AMH, and 39 so praying this works.

Can I jump on this group?

how are you all feeling? No symptoms here but I’m trying to take it easy till tomorrow and then will resume to normal life

Capybara95 · 22/08/2024 07:31

@Daniki i really hope so! Aw that is such a hard wait with no update! Not long to go now until you find out.

@Trying4eva welcome! Sorry to hear about your previous failed transfers. Hoping this will be the one for you. I’m feeling pretty much normal too, some light cramping yesterday but aware that can just be the progesterone.

GLizzie88 · 22/08/2024 08:00

@Daniki good luck today!!

I've just found out that none of my others are freezable, which is pretty upsetting. And it's made me more worried about the one I have. I was really trying to be positive.
@Capybara95 welcome! I'm 2dpt today. But due to test next Friday.

@Zeeha funny how they're all different, its just their practice for everyone to get a blood test 2 weeks after EC, then you have to call back in the afternoon for the result.

welcome too @Trying4eva . Hope this is the one too.

It's such an emotional rollercoaster. Part of me wishes I'd taken some time off, but i'd probably just be rocking in the corner of a room!!

Capybara95 · 22/08/2024 08:33

@GLizzie88 I’m sorry to hear you got disappointing news but please try and stay positive about the one you have on board. It really does only take one ❤️

my clinic doesn’t do a blood test either but I really wish they did.

For my egg collection and fresh transfer I took 3 full weeks off and drove myself absolutely crazy in the 2ww so only took the day after transfer off this time and have just tried to plan a few nice things over the 2ww to keep us busy

BakinABaby · 22/08/2024 08:36

Aww @GLizzie88 that is always such gutting news to know you have no "back up". Hope you are feeling well and the one in sticks good!

GLizzie88 · 22/08/2024 09:00

Thank you both. I guess it comes with experience @Capybara95 , we've planned some nice things but I'm going to get some more planned. I'm going to try and keep positive for this one.
