IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@LimeBird I have to make the choice by Monday they are updating me on how the embryos are doing tomorrow, the Dr just said I would prefer it perfect as it greatly increases your chances

camelinastorm · 17/08/2024 15:03

My lining in places is already 16.3mm so I think that's quite thick

LimeBird · 17/08/2024 15:30

Hmm @camelinastorm i guess you might have to just go with your gut feeling if they say it’s up to you, sounds like a difficult decision. At least you have a few days to think and maybe it will feel clearer once you know how many blasts 🤞🏼 I don’t know if anyone else has experience of this?

@Sineadttc aw I hope that’s not the case, this wait is so hard isn’t it! I’ve also been faffing around in the house and on high alert for any more spotting 🤪 meant to be going to a BBQ tomorrow but thinking I might not as not sure I can act all happy and sociable right now!

@Hat24 yes I remember the delivery of the stash- it was quite intimidating! Hope you get on ok with the start of stims!

Can’t help but feel I’m out 😢 tested this morning with the easy @ home strips and got a BFN!! Im 5dp5dt which I know is early, I just thought I may have seen a faint line.
Had a big big cry, and just been keeping myself occupied by cleaning 😅

Try not to panic, it's not many who would get a positive at this stage, I know in a fb group I'm in many haven't got a positive until after 8dp5dt!

@camelinastorm that is good they did tell me they like it over 7

camelinastorm · 17/08/2024 18:17

@Daniki I think over 7 below 14 or something like, it so confusing all this isn't it, I just don't know what to do all was going so well

Sineadttc · 17/08/2024 18:59

@Daniki thank you for your message x

Lil89 · 17/08/2024 19:40

My first post so please be kind! I've completed my tablets and started my bleed today (ouch!) with my baseline scan booked in on Monday I'm not sure what to expect. Any help or advice would be great xxx TIA

LimeBird · 17/08/2024 20:19

Hi @Tiz90 and all, I caved tonight and took my test a bit early- 10dp5dt, it was negative 😔 I’m obviously going to wait and test again on my instructed day (Monday) but assume the negative is accurate at this stage. So sad as was feeling hopeful as the spotting had calmed down. Anyway I wish you all the best for the rest of your journeys xx

Thanks so much for the welcome! Yeah it's my first cycle, it's so much to take in that I'm so glad I found this group 🤩

nicky0 · 17/08/2024 21:15

@Lil89 Hi! It's my partner's first cycle as well, so waiting for all those "first times" when it came to appointments, tests, and starting stims has been filled with lots of anticipation and a bit of nerves for us as well - so I feel you!

I know it's easier said than done, but try to take it one day at a time. Treat yourself during this process, do nice things for yourself to try to relax (as much as possible in such circumstances, lol), and try not to go down a rabbit hole of excessive googling, haha - I'm definitely guilty of that one.

Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly for you! x

@LimeBird What test did you use? Some tests (like ClearBlue - especially the digital ones) might pick up a pregnancy later than others (like FirstResponse Early Result ones, I think) due to their sensitivity to hCG levels. It's ridiculous how different they can be. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Congratulations to everyone who went through their ERs earlier this week! I hope everyone's embryos continue to develop nicely 😊

My partner went through her ER earlier today as well, and they got 6 eggs out. The embryologist will contact us on Monday to update us on how the fertilization went and how the embryos are doing. It's gonna be a looong day tomorrow.

LimeBird · 17/08/2024 21:26

@nicky0 glad your partner’s egg collection went ok and hope those embryos develop well in the coming days!

I used a Clearblue standard one I think (not the early response one). It said it’s 99% accurate from the day of your missed period (hard to know exactly when that is with IVF but think it may be Monday) it also said you can take it any time of the day which is why I thought this eve would be ok x

BakinABaby · 18/08/2024 16:26

Finally caught up. Fingers xxxxxed for anyone post EC and in TWW.

I had similar numbers to some here last time, with 6 mature eggs, 5 fertilizing. I only got one embryo though and I’m 32 with unexplained infertility, so I was definitely disappointed to fall below the average on that scale, but just shows the statisctics don’t mean nothing on an individual level.

5 days into stimming this time. Different meds, different protocol and different dose. Not saying I feel bad, but definitely more tight feeling this time around and I actually get a painful sting when I stretch so I’ve been kinda hunched and now I have back pain 😅 First scan on wednesday. I think this’ll be the last one for us regardless of outcome, so really hoping for a plentiyful harvest.

GLizzie88 · 18/08/2024 18:44

Sorry all, just catching up. @LimeBird hopefully not, you never know. When is your hospital test?
We find out how many have made it to day 3 tomorrow. We're starting to plan out things to do in the tww because even the last 24 hours have been hard to wait!
I'm not enjoying the pessaries. I generally feel worse on these than the injection meds - I didn't really have any symptoms on those apart from a little tired.

Natasha90 · 18/08/2024 20:42

Hey,

New to the group,
4th round not yet made it to transfer.
This is my final fresh round. I started the pill today for 7 days.

Good luck all 🩷

GLizzie88 · 19/08/2024 08:39

Hi @Natasha90 welcome!

How's everyone doing after the weekend? I have the transfer on weds for a day 5, confirmed this morning!! It's very surreal.

LimeBird · 19/08/2024 10:23

That’s exciting @GLizzie88 ! Hope it goes well and hope you have some nice plans to distract on the 2WW!
My clinic doesn’t seem to do a hospital test but my official test day was today and it was negative again sadly. I still have some weird symptoms so holding onto tiniest bit of hope that all the tests are wrong but I know I’m probably deluded! 😂 I have called the clinic and they couldn’t get a review with our normal doctor for several weeks, so have opted to see a different doctor for a review on 2nd Sept. So we’ll see what they say. I feel silly now for thinking we might be one of the lucky ones where it worked first time! 😔 the embryo was 4ab and she said my lining was ‘perfect’ at the last scan so not sure what went wrong. So hard all of this!

I hope you all have good weeks and positive outcomes of any egg collections and transfers due this week. Thanks for everyone’s support on this chat, it’s been really helpful 💐 🧡 x

GLizzie88 · 19/08/2024 10:43

I'm so sorry @LimeBird. It's such an emotional rollercoaster. I'm the same, it's my first round too. So far things seem to be fine, I haven't had any other scans though, just in on weds. It's strange how places are so so different with how they manage ivf. I have a date already for my test (not an appointment though). But good you've been able to book to see someone, although I can't believe how long you have to wait!

LimeBird · 19/08/2024 11:11

Thank you @GLizzie88 I know, would have preferred to see our normal consultant who we know quite well now but can’t wait that long 🤪. All the best for your transfer and I’ll keep everything crossed for you x

@GLizzie88 best of luck for Weds!!! Great news on a day 5!

@Natasha90 Welcome. It sounds like you've had a tough journey so far, fingers crossed this is the magic round!

I'm on day 2 of stims and and trying to work out what's a symptom and what's just general anxiety 😂. Hoping things progress smoothly from here.

GLizzie88 · 19/08/2024 12:45

@Tiz90 that's fantastic, go and get rested. It's a lovely excuse for a lazy day.
Thanks, we have 4 on day 3 so I'm hoping for maybe 2 on day 5?? I'm already feeling the tww stress, on day 3 of the 14 so far.

over30sclub · 19/08/2024 14:19

@LimeBird so sorry to hear you had a neg test today it’s such a tough journey to get this far. Still got my fingers crossed for you for bloods xx
