IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

We have had the news 10 fertilised and are doing well

Daniki · 16/08/2024 14:01

@camelinastorm oh that's fab! That sets you up to relax anyway for a chill weekend 🥰 just trying to tell myself it's all out of my hands now and to relax over the weekend!

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 14:05

@Daniki yes I try to relax during this time as there is nothing at all you can do to influence anything

Bruceytwo · 16/08/2024 14:50

Hi everyone, I've been off the thread for a bit but just read through everybody's updates, it's getting very real! Some good numbers of follicles and eggs, and it really is quality of quantity. I only got 9 eggs this time which became my double fresh transfer and then two blasts in the freezer.

@Daniki I had never considered the increased cost of a freeze-all! However to avoid OHSS I definitely recommend, I'm hopefully on the mend from it but it's been a tough week! The silver lining is getting free HCG tests though haha.

Daniki · 16/08/2024 15:20

@Bruceytwo glad to hear you're on the mend, did you end up in hospital or anything? (My mind is very foggy so sorry if have told me already 😂)
It's annoying but exactly, I need to be healthy and safe too! I feel less pressure inside now after that thank god!

GLizzie88 · 16/08/2024 15:46

Hey all, just catching up on the messages! Had mine this morning, they got 7. They said that's really good, it seems so low compared to others. So I understand @Zeeha I was awake and entirely with it for the whole thing!! I got a little fentinyl and gas and air. @Daniki it sounds like you got a great result and glad you can just rest at home after the move.
@camelinastorm glad you're feeling much better today too.
The first few hours after I was in quite alot of discomfort. But some co-codamol and Disney films and I'm feeling much better at the moment.

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 16:06

@GLizzie88 that's great they got quite a few!! Shocked you were awake, I don't think I could do that tbh.
Crazy how clinics vary with treatment.
Rest is the best thing, I didn't help myself as I 'nipped' shopping straight after EC so probably caused more issues

Finally got some co codamol into me it's starting to help as I was getting quite sore! Any bump in the road hurts and iv a cough which I have to hold my stomach for 😂 can't remember if they said we would hear something today, but I haven't apart from an invoice for the frozen transfer 😂. Said we'd hear tomorrow anyway! Not paying the I voice until we hear if any fertilised!
@Tiz90 60 follicles, my god! Did they say you will be a freeze all cycle?

@Tiz90 well that's good, hopefully you stay like that and don't get too sore or anything. Altho I did really notice it in the last few days, such a strange feeling! I found it ok, I felt sleepy but was awake and could feel it and I found it quite uncomfortable! I hate that sedation aswell, I have Crohn's and they use it for colonoscopy's, like either give me a general or nothing at all is my opinion 😂 yea exactly, they can just wait on it! I think she said it wouldn't be a long turn around anyway il get a bleed soon enough and then they'll monitor me and organise it then!

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 22:56

@Daniki they are brutal with the invoices in the UK, I'm overseas and they are not so bad, hope you are feeling ok tomorrow will be a new day and hope you feel back to normal

GLizzie88 · 17/08/2024 09:07

I'm trying to catch up with all the messages. It's so interesting hearing everyone's different stories about their experiences and different clinics.
After the ec yesterday I just felt sore and a bit sorry for myself. Just had a movie night and chilled. Today feeling a little bloated but nothing concerning.

Already heard back from embryology(??) And of our 7 eggs, 5 maybe 6 have fertilised which I'm amazed by. As we don't have an explanation, my worry was my egg quality. So, so far I'm keeping everything crossed they develop well.

LimeBird · 17/08/2024 09:28

Morning all, hope you are all ok and well done to those who got through egg collection! Especially those who had to stay awake 😳 I also hate that gas and air @Daniki I’ve had it too when having colonoscopy and it didn’t help the pain and also gave me a weird husky voice 😂

@GLizzie88 your numbers sound like mine, I had 5 fertilised! I think they say around 50% make it to day 5 on average, so hopefully you’ll get enough for a frozen one or two in addition! I was quite unlucky in only getting one at the end I think as the average is more.

I’ve had a difficult day yesterday as I started spotting. I called the clinic who said to switch to taking the pessaries up the bum ☹️ which not liking 😂 and just to wait and see if proper bleeding starts. I started to think it’s all over but trying to keep some hope that it might be just other spotting. Had a massive takeaway last night to cheer myself up. Also I have a massive online basket full of new clothes that’s getting bought if it’s a negative test, that’s for sure!

Daniki · 17/08/2024 10:06

Hey ladies!

So heads back from embryologis, 10 eggs were mature and 9 have fertilised so tentatively hoping half of them at least reach the next stage 🤞🏻 I'm still quite sore today and noticed my wee output is less pressure(sorry TMI!) so keeping an eye out for any other symptoms 😖

@LimeBird oh the dreaded spotting, it's probably just cervix irritated from the pessaries! I have seen a lot recommend putting it in the back way so hopefully that resolves everything 🤞🏻🙏 I will never have that option as I have a Barbie butt 😂

over30sclub · 17/08/2024 10:32

@camelinastorm @GLizzie88 @Daniki great news on all of your ECs and fertilised eggs hope you can all relax a little this weekend! Hope everyone is feeling ok, my stomach still feels bloated and a little sore but nothing too bad.
Anxiously waiting transfer on Monday hoping that my 6 fertilised eggs are doing well in the lab :)

ive been ok so far with the meds but im starting to feel so sore around my stomach with the daily injections - knowing I have to do this for at least another few weeks is making me feel rubbish especially with all the bruising. Any tips on making the lubion injections easier to take, gladly received!

Daniki · 17/08/2024 11:03

@over30sclub not long to go for you now! Hope your wee eggs are coming along nicely 🥰 not sure on the lubion, is it stingy? Wonder would icing the area first help? I know it helps with clexane cuz it's a stingy one!!

camelinastorm · 17/08/2024 12:48

Hi all so just had my scan, they are concerned as my lining is uneven they are saying it's up to me to go for this round or freeze, has anyone had experience with uneven lining

Daniki · 17/08/2024 13:14

@camelinastorm how annoying! Never heard of this, did they say your chances of it working or anything? It's hard to know, depends how many blasts you end up with.
I would be afraid of it not implanting then!

camelinastorm · 17/08/2024 13:29

They basically said it lowers the chance slightly they would like a perfect lining, it's all at no extra charge (which is nice, the freezing and FET are free ) but it's time sounds awful but when you wait this long you want it all fast

LimeBird · 17/08/2024 14:01

@over30sclub I haven’t had Lubion but had a massive needle phobia prior to all this. I had strategies of taking my time to choose the site beforehand and lining up needle, playing music while I did it to comfort me and then also rewarding myself with chocolate afterwards! I know none of those technically help with the pain but they seemed to help overall.

@camelinastorm that is a really tricky decision, when do you have to decide by? Did they hint at what they would recommend? I think @Daniki may have a point in that you could decide based on the blast numbers e.g. if you only have one, maybe wait for lining to thicken?

Sineadttc · 17/08/2024 14:29

Can’t help but feel I’m out 😢 tested this morning with the easy @ home strips and got a BFN!! Im 5dp5dt which I know is early, I just thought I may have seen a faint line.
Had a big big cry, and just been keeping myself occupied by cleaning 😅

Hat24 · 17/08/2024 14:42

Hi guys, seems like most of you are a few steps ahead of me. I'm starting stims tomorrow. I was quite shocked by the large bulk bag of meds which the pharmacist handed over 😂
