IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

pixiecircle · 15/08/2024 16:50

Hey lovelies, just caught up with the past 10 pages and hope it's okay to join 😅

So sorry to hear that @Blossomofhope — hope you can plan something nice for yourself.

I'm on day 9 of stims and due for my last scan tomorrow, with provisional egg collection for Monday 19th. Last scan they found 13 follicles over 8mm, and 2 largest were at 18mm (next largest were at 14mm).

I've not had a single blood test since starting stims, is that normal?

My injections 2 nights ago are still swollen and bruised, feeling nervous going on that side tonight... 😔

Firefly42 · 15/08/2024 17:21

@pixiecircle My clinic is the same.Is your clinic abroad by any chance?

Firefly42 · 15/08/2024 17:24

Well done to everyone on their egg collection results and best of luck to everyone on their 2ww and those going for egg collections.

I had baseline scan on Monday and cleared to start stims when period arrives next week. One hurdle overcome anyways.xx

Firefly42 · 15/08/2024 17:25

@Blossomofhope so sorry to hear your news.xx

camelinastorm · 15/08/2024 19:53

@Firefly42 mine is overseas and have had bloods and scans, are you overseas

GLizzie88 · 15/08/2024 21:00

@LimeBird @Sineadttc thanks for the tips on the pads!
Sounds great @camelinastorm and @over30sclub keeping everything crossed for great embryo news.

I'm nervous for tomorrow now, have to be there at 8.30am so I'm glad I don't have to pace the house for long in the morning!

camelinastorm · 15/08/2024 21:14

@GLizzie88 good luck for tomorrow, it's honestly not as scary as you think, tbh I love the sedation part it's like a great sleep.
I'll be honest I was really sore earlier, it's gone down loads had an electrolyte and think it helped loads.
The cannula in my hand was the worst as they couldn't get a vein for ages

That's good to know. I'm on fenynal and awake I've been told I'll be awake!

camelinastorm · 15/08/2024 21:24

@GLizzie88 fenynal is a sensitive, they say you're awake but it's that heavy sedation you may ask well be asleep, my hubby said I came back in in a wheelchair fully awake got into the bed ..... I don't not remember anything, I'm guessing it's similar (I didn't ask what drug I had tbh) but your not technically asleep

Ahhh OK thanks! I'll let you know how it goes at some point after.

Firefly42 · 15/08/2024 22:31

@camelinastorm yes my clinic is in Prague.I have plenty of bloods and scan done before starting stims but no bloods monitored during stims. This has always been the case with my clinic(third cycle).Didn't know it wasn't the norm until I heard people giving out about it on another forum.

LimeBird · 15/08/2024 23:14

So sorry to hear that @Blossomofhope i hope you are feeling ok and can get some TLC this weekend. X

LimeBird · 15/08/2024 23:26

Good luck for tomorrow @GLizzie88 , hope it goes well! I think I had the conscious sedation too but I didn’t know about any of it and was talking some real crap to the nurse in recovery! So hopefully you won’t remember a thing. I had cramps after so I’d get the paracetamol and hot water bottle ready just in case. Glad yours have gone ok @camelinastorm and @over30sclub !

I hope things move along well for your egg collection @pixiecircle !

@Firefly42 I don’t think I had any blood tests after starting stims, only internal scans every other day? I did have a blood test just before transfer though, to check progesterone levels but think that was it.

Aw @Zeeha i hope the new injections are tiny needles like the Ovaleap, it’s hard when you think you’ve got through the injections part!

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 05:58

@Firefly42 ah get you so mine does first scan on day 10 of stims with blood test for progesterone.
Yes I have seen a few get multiple scans during the first few days of stims, I strangely didn't have a scan before starting (this is 3rd round) they just went of my very first scan from the first round, good luck Prague is lovely

Daniki · 16/08/2024 06:37

@camelinastorm how you feeling today?

@GLizzie88 good luck today! 🥰 just up myself don't have to be there til 11 so could have had a sleep in but in quite nervous and excited 😂 my body is wrecked tho from moving yest, but glad we did it as i can just hop into the new bed when we're home 😍

Daniki · 16/08/2024 06:39

Also re bloods- I got mine done at the last two scans but they usually only do the bloods at the last scan before EC and will do mine again before transfer to check progesterone, it will be a frozen transfer

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 07:39

@Daniki I am feeling like a new woman 😂 the pain has gone, swelling gone and can move around perfectly today. I was quite worried yesterday but now not good luck today relax and enjoy

Daniki · 16/08/2024 08:49

@camelinastorm oh great! Really hope I'm the same 😂 just getting ready to leave now, it's a 2 hour journey!

Zeeha · 16/08/2024 10:12

Hi everyone. I've just had my egg collection this morning. It was more pleasant than injecting myself to be honest! The worst part was anxiety for me, as last time I was in a theatre room was when I had an emergency c section to deliver our daughter and an emergency surgery for a missed miscarriage. They collected six eggs, so I'm a bit downhearted as at 32 with no known fertility issues for myself, we were hoping for more as this does seem to be a numbers game. I just keeping trying to think quality, over quantity and worse case scenario we have another two full rounds paid for with GAIA, so it's only really time and medication to worry about if we're not successful this time. Luckily my husband's sample was good enough for IVF and not ICSI. We will have an update in the morning on fertilisation and then nothing until the transfer on Wednesday (that's if we have one available for then, as they don't use the time lapsing incubators for standard IVF). Fingers crossed for everyone!

LimeBird · 16/08/2024 10:33

Good luck @Daniki 🤞🏼 hope it goes well , sorry it’s such a long drive away!

@Zeeha sorry to hear you didn’t get as many as you were expecting, I found that part one of the hardest bits as you have no idea how it’s going to go, and my clinic tell you as soon as you wake up so it’s such a tense moment isn’t it! Hopefully the 6 you got are good strong ones 🙏

I’ve just been in touch with my clinic to ask when I would expect a period to start if the cycle hasn’t worked, and they said my test date which is a bit later than I thought, as I’m normally a 28 day cycle (and guess I ovulated on egg collection day?) so I thought it would be due tomorrow. Finding it so hard waiting, and have these on and off vague period type cramps for days now. Not strong ones but just nagging ones. I’m hoping it’s due to implantation and not my period trying to break through! 🙏

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 12:25

@Danikihope all has gone well

@Zeeha I would definitely say quality over quantity my first round I got 3 fertilised and got a bfp (unfortunately it didn't last bel6it was my progesterone levels, six is still a great amount to work with and you still have other opportunities so don't worry too much

Hat24 · 16/08/2024 12:51

@LimeBird 🤞 🤞 🤞 for implantation!!

Daniki · 16/08/2024 13:35

Hey ladies all went well I got 11 eggs. With the 35 follicles thought I'd get more but anyway. Hopefully a good few fertilise. I did find it quite painful but maybe it's cuz I had so many follicles. Will find out more tomorrow but it's a freeze all so won't be until after my bleed we'll get a frozen transfer!

camelinastorm · 16/08/2024 13:42

@Daniki that's amazing news 11 is great, rest up, I honestly felt so ill but feel a different person today, glad it went well
