IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@Tiz90 no I'm in Ireland so with Therapie fertility. It was €4795 for the ICSI package but that included fresh transfer, I didn't actually realise the implications until she told me today. Just a bit hard to take when we have so much to be paying at the minute 🙈 but sure it has to be done so il get over it! 😂

camelinastorm · 14/08/2024 19:14

@Daniki its a financial nightmare, you seem to have decent pricing in NI our rounds (no freezing )have been 8/9k it's so annoying the costings, we are collection tomorrow, my clinic only decided a freeze all if you have OHSS, so fingers crossed all is ok at my end after collection.
At least you don't have to do the whole package again and just a frozen transfer

@camelinastorm @Tiz90 yea it's so true! It's so annoying! But we're lucky here in that we don't have the pricing of meds that yous do, we have a scheme you pay no more than €80 per month per family for any amount of meds! It's a lifesaver as I have a monthly prescription anyway as I have a stoma 🙈

@Tiz90 that is insane! Yea were very lucky with it here as I have friends in NI who pay mental amounts 😣

LimeBird · 14/08/2024 22:40

@Daniki thats great that you have lots of follicles, can imagine that it’s frustrating if you have to freeze all though! I hope you can take it easy and get lots of help with the move.

@over30sclub that sounds like a good amount, keeping my fingers crossed that they develop well over the coming days!

@camelinastorm I didn’t notice anything symptom wise after the trigger either, wasn’t sure if that’s normal but it did its job! Best of luck for your EC!

@Sineadttc I keep getting the vague period type cramps too, I heard the progesterone can give you random symptoms too so it’s so hard to work out which symptoms mean what! When are you planning to test? I almost don’t want to and just stay blissfully ignorant 🙃until any period starts if course! I’ve tried to keep preoccupied but get nervous about being in office if period starts in case I cry! Luckily mainly working from home this week.

best of luck to all x

GLizzie88 · 15/08/2024 06:36

Thanks @Daniki that's good to know.

Did the trigger last night eek! Ovaries are feeling sore this morning! They've slowly been feeling more sore throughout the process.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Hope it goes well today @camelinastorm !

Daniki · 15/08/2024 08:15

Goodluck today @camelinastorm 🥰 let's know how you get on!

Same @GLizzie88 triggered last night and feeling quite tender this morning and very nauseas. It was a difficult trigger than I'm used to last night, a lot of mixing so it was nearly 15 mins after the given time that I actually got to inject it really hope it makes no difference 🙈

GLizzie88 · 15/08/2024 08:25

I think 15 minutes is fine in the scheme of 36 hours - plus the process takes 20 minutes to half an hour anyway.
My boobs also feel tender too! So I'm ready for the meds to be done, but can't say I'm excited for the pessaries. How is everyone finding those??

@GLizzie88 im on cyclogest in my TWW and i feel like i have all the side effects. I was completely fine through all my medication prior to egg collection but struggling with these. Every body is different I suppose! Feeling very fatigued, crampy, bloated, sore breasts(although they are always sore around this time).

That's what I've got lined up to take. Thanks for the heads up, I've got a few plans in but think I'll work at home for the next couple of weeks. Sorry you're feeling rubbish, hopefully it's all worth it!!

Last night was seriously crampy and felt little twinges on my side. I keep saying to myself I’m going to test Sunday but my OTH is like hold out to at least Tuesday(when my period is due). My OTD is Thursday. When are you thinking on testing?
yeah I feel you about being in the office. I’ve completely avoided the office too! Just working from home. Feel very lucky to have that option!

LimeBird · 15/08/2024 09:05

@GLizzie88 I’m on cyclogest pessaries 3x a day, I have felt ok on them but my PMT type symptoms have been coming and going (mood swings, sore boobs, cramps) not sure if affected by the pessaries! The only thing I would advise is to stock up on sanitary pads, I tried just panty liners but the discharge from the pessaries kept still ruining my underwear! 😂

@Sineadttc ah that’s good you can wfh! I normally go in two days a week but managed to only do one this week so hoping it’s ok. I’m supposed to test Monday (just checked date) 😅

@Blossomofhope how are you doing? Hope you are getting on ok x

@GLizzie88 @LimeBird i tried panty liners too and boy I wised up 😂!! Defo get the sanitary pads stocked up especially if you are out and about.

Zeeha · 15/08/2024 09:43

I triggered last night too at 8.30pm! Feeling tender this morning, but lots to get on with. I found out yesterday I have to inject lubion progesterone as well as taking the pessaries. Just when I thought I'd finished the injections for a while 😂

over30sclub · 15/08/2024 10:14

@Zeeha hope you’re feeling ok after the trigger. I’m in the same boat with Lubion injections too! Our clinic advised that if we get a BFP i have to do the injections all the way to 12 weeks. Hopefully we get that far :)
@GLizzie88 hope youre also feeling OK after the trigger fingers crossed all goes well at your EC
@camelinastorm good luck today! Hope all goes well

Clinic called this morning and let us know that of 11 eggs collected, 10 were mature and 6 have fertilised. Booked in for transfer on Monday and just hoping we get at least 2 that are good enough so we freeze one and do the fresh transfer. I’m more nervous in this stage than anything leading up to it as there’s nothing we can do now!

camelinastorm · 15/08/2024 10:26

All out of egg collection she said I have lots of folicles so in for a scan on Saturday to check all is ok for a fresh transfer guessing risk of OHSS, @Zeeha @over30sclub how did they find out you need progesterone injections, I am needing these after transfer but they have said not before

Not good news I’m afraid for me. It’s been a failed cycle. I’ve been testing each day and today I’ve had a blood test. Results this afternoon but I’m getting it’s failed.

wishing you all the very best of luck!!

@Blossomofhope so sorry to hear that, sending lots of love your way x

@camelinastorm glad all went well hopefully no OHSS and lots of eegs :) clinic hadn’t said that it’s something specific to my stats or any bloods that came back, they found that overall they had a better live birth rate with those who continued with the lubion injections past 8 weeks so that’s what they prescribe. They only told me this when I got booked in for egg collection as thought I was done with injections for a while! SoEC was yesterday I did my first lubion injection last night & will be every night now until 12 wks if BFP or neg result I suppose. Also cyclogest morn and eve for the forseable future

GLizzie88 · 15/08/2024 11:56

@Blossomofhope I'm so sorry. Sending you lots of hugs. Look after yourself and get your support network around you x

@Blossomofhope so sorry to hear this take time and look after yourself

camelinastorm · 15/08/2024 14:28

So had our results back from EC we have 8 excellent quality and 4 good quality (the others under good my clinic don't use due to success rates ) hoping now for a good rate for D5
Feel very sore after EC

@over30sclub I have the progesterone injections just start after transfer really wish it was before just in case

over30sclub · 15/08/2024 16:18

@camelinastorm Sorry you’re feeling sore after EC hopefully with some rest you’ll feel better soon. Sounds like you a good number of eggs though which is great, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that you get lots of great quality embryos 😊

Also apologies all, looking back on my previous messages, it’s like I’m typing with my eyes closed - terrible grammar and spelling!! I’m blaming it on the stress of this process!
