BFP after IVF - anyone want to join me in the wait for first scan?

Hi everyone,
I’ve just had our first cycle of IVF and although we had very slim odds of it working (low AMH, low AFC, male factor, which led to only 2 mature eggs which thankfully led to one perfect day 5 blast). We are absolutely amazed and over the moon that it worked despite everything, but I am really struggling with the wait for first scan. I almost feel with infertility (we TTC for 6/7 years) that it does make you anxious and I’m finding the wait to my first scan (6th June) unbearable. I don’t want to seem ungrateful but I really wish I could enjoy it or relax a little but instead I am worrying about miscarriage and things I can’t control. For me this has been the worst bit of IVF so far, and I’d love to just be able to be happy so I don’t look back (if it does work) and wish that I hadn’t been so anxious and scared.

Is anyone else in the same boat who wants to keep me company? 🥹 Or can provide some tips on how to distract myself and cope better? I know there’s nothing I can do to change the outcome and what will be will be, but I don’t think I’ve ever worried so much in my life.

@AnnieStar12 what an insensitive thing to say to you, as if this isn’t stressful enough! I mean really… what was the point?! Will this be your 3rd?

@DippyDuck19 Mmm baby showers aren’t for me either but my friends and mum are insistent. And I guess why not - I usually am the one forking out for friends baby showers and birthdays over the years so it’d be nice to be looked after! I’ve just said nothing OTT babyish or pink. A nice lunch would be fine. 😂

@AnnieStar12 There’s a couple of things I’ve saved on Facebook marketplace and I am going to get my pregnant pillow from vinted as I’ve seen a few of those bbhugme ones that usually cost a lot for a cushion on there.

I can’t believe your GP said that to be honest (even if in his opinion it’s true) - what’s the point of that added pressure now. And the fact is your chances won’t be zero anyway - if you’re still having a period and nothing else wrong then it always could happen. But anyway - I genuinely believe that your little miracle baby is meant for you, just like mine is. Have faith that it is meant to be if you can. ❤️

I was curious about that (not that it matters because secondary infertility is just as painful as infertility with no baby!) - how many of you already have kids? Or how many are first time mummy’s to be? This is going to be my first (and only most likely!) 🥰

@HopefulllHolly my mum just wants to play lots of baby themed games. She's unhappy I've found out the sex as she wants to do "predictions". I said she can still do predictions in terms of arrival date, weight etc. we are keeping the sex a secret for now. I might do a gender reveal at the baby shower after predictions made.

It's also my first and most likely only one. Our 4% miracle!!! I do have another 6 day embryo in the freezer but not as good quality as this one.

@DippyDuck19 Awww bless your mum. To be fair I like the guessing games! Would be nice to tell your friends and mum together too.
Ah 🥹 baby number one! No wonder we’re both fearful! Haha. You’re super lucky having another one in the freezer too - I don’t believe much in grading - if they make it to the freezer they have a chance. My friend who had a little boy in November had a tonne of transfers and miscarriages and her one that stuck was the worst grade of all. So you never know! But one is plenty anyway 🥹 more than a dream
come true! ☺️ Can’t wait to get to Christmas time now and be waiting for each others arrivals!

Hello guys! Sorry for my delayed response it's been a crazy anxious day but I'm pleased to say my scan went well and baby is all good! Saw the heartbeat and baby is measuring exactly 7+6 so I'm 8 weeks tomorrow which is good as I thought I was a day behind! 😀 I cried absolute ugly tears of relief on the scan bed to the point I had mascara panda eyes and the sonographer was like "I think you have a bit of mascara under your eye" lol Me and DH went to Five Guys afterwards as a treat lol it will probably come back to bite me later with acid and sickness but it was worth it!

Congrats @FluffyTed on your scan for yesterday! How are you feeling?

@HopefulllHolly I'm so sorry that you are feeling anxious how are you doing today? I cant believe your scan is tomorrow and you get to see your beautiful little girl again!!

@AnnieStar12 omg your consultation appointment with the NHS doctor sounds awful how insensitive 😮when is your next scan? Bet it will be lovely to see the baby again soon! And good luck for your test results at the weekend.

@HopefulllHolly this will be my second, was incredibly lucky that ivf round 1 - hence my lovely dd who was 2 in April, this will be my last and is from transfer 4 🥰

This will actually be my 4th baby. So for me it’s been like quad-infertility or whatever the name would be.
I’m so grateful for being able to conceive my first 3 babas without issue, and can only imagine the pain of struggling to conceive when it’s your first. But I’ve not had a particularly easy journey tbh. My first two babas I had when I was a teenager, my eldest has since passed away and I brought up my DD as a single mum, before finally meeting current partner in my mid-30s and having my DD at 38 who’s now 2.5. I naively thought I could have one more and complete my family but then found myself facing infertility and then miscarriages and early + rapid ovarian decline. Felt like the world was against me until this miracle happened!

I’ve never had a baby shower! And thinking about it I’ve only ever been invited to two despite all my pals having babies 🤷‍♀️ maybe they’ve just not caught on in my friendship circles. I guess once one person starts then it becomes a thing. Would be fun getting lots of baby presents, maybe I’ll start hinting haha!

@AnnieStar12 oh gosh lovely im sorry you've had such a difficult journey, infertility is such an emotionally draining and tough experience when you know you want to complete your family. You def deserve a baby shower to celebrate your miracle baby!! My sister threw me a baby shower for my DS who is 2.5 and I loved it, we had chicken wings and mac n cheese (my binge pregnancy cravings lol) and did loads of little party games like who can change the nappy the fastest on a baby doll, guess the baby pictures and guess the weight/baby birth date.

Aww @Fluffyted it's so lovely to see your little baby in the scan!! When is your due date? My EDD has been confirmed as 19 Feb but I'm likely to request a c section after having one with my DS which I think for planned they go for 39 weeks so most likely will be week commencing 10th making it a little Aquarius! 😁

I’m sorry ladies, I haven’t had the chance to catch up with your messages today, but I’m currently sat in A&E due to having some heavy bleeding with clots in the past 2 hours. It just started gushing out while I was walking towards my bus stop 😔 so scary. I can only hope that it’s nothing serious as I’m not having cramping but we’ll just have to wait and see. Send positive thoughts my way!

Well 4 hours in A&E, blood tests, urine tests, ECG and a cervix examination, overall I passed 2 hefty clots but they say all looks “apparently” okay. Cervix is closed but bleeding, though it’s stopping. I was referred for a scan at the EPU tomorrow, so nothing conclusive today. They did their best in the out of hours of the EPU I suppose. Will let you know how it goes tomorrow

Feels like a long wait until my next private scan on 21st!
