BFP after IVF - anyone want to join me in the wait for first scan?

Hi everyone,
I’ve just had our first cycle of IVF and although we had very slim odds of it working (low AMH, low AFC, male factor, which led to only 2 mature eggs which thankfully led to one perfect day 5 blast). We are absolutely amazed and over the moon that it worked despite everything, but I am really struggling with the wait for first scan. I almost feel with infertility (we TTC for 6/7 years) that it does make you anxious and I’m finding the wait to my first scan (6th June) unbearable. I don’t want to seem ungrateful but I really wish I could enjoy it or relax a little but instead I am worrying about miscarriage and things I can’t control. For me this has been the worst bit of IVF so far, and I’d love to just be able to be happy so I don’t look back (if it does work) and wish that I hadn’t been so anxious and scared.

Is anyone else in the same boat who wants to keep me company? 🥹 Or can provide some tips on how to distract myself and cope better? I know there’s nothing I can do to change the outcome and what will be will be, but I don’t think I’ve ever worried so much in my life.

@HopefulllHolly I told her on phone how anxious I was about ectopic ,.she said she will have to discuss with the person in morning as she just answers the out of hours phone or something .. but that’s just what she thought they will do bloods then scan .. they have to call and confirm in morning .. so it might well be they just scan me also ? .. I dunno .. Will find out exactly in the morning when they call .. thanks guys really appreciate your messages .. big love to you all ❤️

@hopefullsosbry It makes me so sad that you’ve had to go through this physical and emotional rollercoaster for the past week and I can only hope that you’ll get a resolution soon. It’s absolutely unfair and I’m so annoyed for you that the EPU is so rigid about this. I hope that you can get a scan soon. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that we’re all thinking of you and rooting for you from the sidelines.

Hi everyone, hoping on here as we wait the last few days for our first scan. It's actually my DW who is pregnant rather than me, but I probably obsess over it all more than her! Have been surviving the wait ok, but now starting to feel the nerves. It's on Friday afternoon when she'll be 7+4.

I’m on my way to EPU for my reassurance scan, feeling very nervous. It’s a walk-in self referral service at my local EPU so you can end up waiting for hours which is not good for the nerves!!
Last time I was there was when I had my MMC so really scared going back. Hopefully it’ll be good news today and I’m trying to get there before it opens so I’ll be first in line 🤞

@RunningOnHope nice to see you on this thread :) your wife is just three days behind me! I’m 7+5 today.

I’m on the way to the IVF clinic myself for the 48 hours later hcg test 😬 another day of waiting by the phone with peak anxiety levels

Waiting to be seen just now, they can only do bloods she said , then repeat bloods on Friday 48 hours apart and I have to wait for scan with fertility clinic next week as planned with them for my 1st scan at 7+1 .. think they think with such low beta they prob won’t see much anyways just now so they just want to track blood ?! Doesn’t really put my mind at ease but I’ll just have to wait for next week to see what’s going on inside. 😵‍💫 head f¥€k !! Ahhh

@hopefullsosbry I’m so sorry that they’re faffing you about so much. It’s already a stressful and uncertain situation, and having to go back for appointments and scans constantly when they could just do it right there and then, instead of assuming, is infuriating. Do you still have to take your progesterone and anything else you’re on? Hoping that you have a good support network around you and that you can take today as a full-on self care say. You deserve it 💜

Thank you for your lovely message. Not gonna lie I’m a bit stressed. This is where it all came crashing down for me last time as well, so it’s particularly triggering.

I will get a call with blood results later today , which is super quick compared to the private clinic .. then blood on Friday and if nkt picked up I assume they will scan then ? On Saturday maybes ? She did say if eptopic suspected they will intervene before next weeks scan .. They have to have the blood work as can’t take a private clinics as valid incase they are not regulated the same or something like that 🤷🏼‍♀️I do get that, I does make sense I guess and they just have to do it by their own protocols, just more waiting I guess .. I am actually ok at the min and have accepted it’s not valid and as m out this round now .. I do just wana check it’s not ectopic really .. fingers crossed your bloods rise .. I am sure all will be fine as your starting was good but I totally get you will be worrying, it’s absolutely natural to think the worst and worry after your past loss .. but hopefully all will be ok for you 💖 sending hugs

@hopefullsosbry argh, sorry there’s more waiting for you. And so strange that it’s such a different system depending on where you live - my local EPU scan you regardless every time you go in, but they don’t do Beta bloods 🤷‍♀️

@hopefullsosbry Glad you’re getting results much more quickly that’s great. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Annoying they won’t scan but I’m sure they have their reasons and won’t put you at risk. How are you feeling?

Just got my 12 week scan date through and I’ll actually only be 11+6 but I don’t spose it matters too much. Also have an appointment with the obstetrician straight after which will be interesting. Now need to get on with sorting my NIPT test 😌

My update is I was thankfully seen within half an hour - which is record speed, my partner didn’t even get there in time as he was on nursery run!
The scan was all good, measuring spot on 7+5 which is precisely what it should be and with a nice healthy heartbeat.
So for now I’m over another hurdle, but still got the nipt and then 12 week scan in a few weeks to get through before I will be able to accept I’m pregnant, but I am relieved as this was the stage my MMC was detected in my last pregnancy so feels good to have passed that point.

@HopefulllHolly same, my 12 week scan is at 11+5, I’m kinda pleased to be having it all sooner tbh!

@hopefullsosbry yeah, I know, they need to follow protocol and go by the book. I just feel for you because you've been riding this rollercoaster since last week and it looks like it might take a bit longer until it gets resolved. I hope that the next few days go by fast and that it's not an ectopic - such a scary one that one! Thank you for your lovely wishes again and sending you hugs as well! 💖

@AnnieStar12 Congratulations!!! I'm so pleased it went well. Has your anxiety subsided a bit after another successful scan?

@AnnieStar12 Yayyy I’m so pleased it went well! Another hurdle completed. Not too long until your NIPT - what date do you have it again, I know it’s 10+1! I’m having mine tomorrow now I know my 12 week scan is only in 2 weeks time. Won’t have another scan in between it now so fingers crossed I can keep my nerves at bay for 2 weeks. Hopefully getting the results of the NIPT test will be ok (don’t even want to think about the bad scenarios of this unless it happens to be perfectly honest 😣). And finding out the gender will hopefully give me a little halfway boost in between the scans. I was reading (totally for fun after just going down a rabbit hole of google) posts about the Ramzi theory and by that theory I should be having a girl but I have a feeling it’s a boy, so we’ll see what’s right I guess! Eeek!

@ThePeachGoose thankyou, yes it's relieved some anxiety for now. But I don't think I will truly relax until I've got past 12 weeks.

@HopefulllHolly Oh that's great you are having it tomorrow, how many days past 10 weeks will you be? Yes, that's right I booked mine for 10+1 which is the 13th July. Am going to try not to any extra scans before then as it's only a little over 2 weeks away, and then my 12 week scan will only be 11 days after the nipt scan on 24th July. I never thought I would wish away a sunny July so badly!
