BFP after IVF - anyone want to join me in the wait for first scan?

Sensitive

Hi everyone,
I’ve just had our first cycle of IVF and although we had very slim odds of it working (low AMH, low AFC, male factor, which led to only 2 mature eggs which thankfully led to one perfect day 5 blast). We are absolutely amazed and over the moon that it worked despite everything, but I am really struggling with the wait for first scan. I almost feel with infertility (we TTC for 6/7 years) that it does make you anxious and I’m finding the wait to my first scan (6th June) unbearable. I don’t want to seem ungrateful but I really wish I could enjoy it or relax a little but instead I am worrying about miscarriage and things I can’t control. For me this has been the worst bit of IVF so far, and I’d love to just be able to be happy so I don’t look back (if it does work) and wish that I hadn’t been so anxious and scared.

Is anyone else in the same boat who wants to keep me company? 🥹 Or can provide some tips on how to distract myself and cope better? I know there’s nothing I can do to change the outcome and what will be will be, but I don’t think I’ve ever worried so much in my life.

Thank you 🙏

AnnieStar12 · 23/06/2024 11:58

@DippyDuck19 congrats, another hurdle crossed!! I’ve also got my nipt scan and tests booked in for 10+1 but that feels like a lifetime away right now! I really feel like time has stopped still since getting my BFP.

DogMummy87 · 23/06/2024 12:40

@DippyDuck19 such brilliant news! So happy for you! 🥰😍💜

DippyDuck19 · 23/06/2024 12:50

Thanks everyone! I feel like we've passed a good milestone and now not too long til my 12 week scan. Hopefully I can start to feel less anxious! Definitely starting to feel more real now that it looks like a baby! The see it wiggling around on the screen felt very surreal!

@AnnieStar12 how many weeks are you now? I feel like my 8 to 10 weeks has flown by!

So glad to hear it went well 😊

Seeing it actually moving around makes all the difference does it!!

AnnieStar12 · 23/06/2024 14:00

@DippyDuck19 I am 7+2 today. Plan to have my next scan at EPU this Wednesday at 7+5 and then wait until 10+1 for the private nipT one.
I hope times speeds up!! I just keep thinking by end of July I will have had my 12 week scan had all the results back, and if all has gone well, I might be able to relax after that. Bring on August!! 5 weeks to go…

LouP87 · 23/06/2024 15:03

Had a scan at window to the womb this afternoon and all seems to be well. I hadn’t been feeling any sort of way for this week so didn’t know what to expect when we got in there.

baby is measuring a day ahead now (worrying, me and my partner are both really tall and we’re big babies too 😅). Saw the heartbeat again which the sonographer said was strong, just a bit disappointed as baby didn’t move at all, apparently that’s not unusual though.

13 days until 12 week scan 😂

HopefulllHolly · 23/06/2024 15:12

@LouP87 Amazing news! Glad little bubba is doing ok! 13 days isn’t long at all!! How exciting! ☺️ Thankfully me and partner are both short arses! 😅 Hopefully it’s just leggy 😂😂

@AnnieStar12 hopefully time flies for you!

@LouP87 glad your scan went well. Maybe it's had a growth spurt and will even out by 12 weeks.

AnnieStar12 · 23/06/2024 16:54

@LouP87 ahh, that’s great news! Another positive scan story :)

ThePeachGoose · 23/06/2024 19:48

I’m joining this thread from the late May / June IVF thread as today was my official testing date and I got my positive!

My 6-7 week scan should be in 2 weeks, so the week starting with 8th July, but they haven’t booked me in yet. They just told me to get in touch then and they’ll fit me in.

However, my consultant wants me to do blood tests first thing tomorrow because I’ve had some on & off brown spotting (I already take my Cyclogest rectally so that’s not it). That’s a bit stressful for me as last time I went for hcg tests they were really low (18 I think) and reduced further. But I’m trying to reassure myself that the lines on the pregnancy tests have been much stronger this time round.

Also reassuring to see here that spotting is not uncommon, and also not necessarily a cause of concern. Of stress, yes, but not necessarily concern lol

It was gutting to read your posts @hopefullsosbry but hopefully things progress well! Fingers crossed for you!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow @HopefulllHolly And i was so pleased for your scans @DippyDuck19 and @LouP87 it gives me hope!

HopefulllHolly · 23/06/2024 20:02

Welcome @ThePeachGoose ☺️☺️☺️ So pleased you got your positive today! I had a feeling! A few of the girls on here have had a bit of spotting and everything is all good with their little babes so definitely try not to worry. You’ll be ok! So hard not to let your mind go to previous experiences though I know. Hope the 2 weeks goes super quick for you 🥰

@ThePeachGoose Welcome to this chat and congrats again! I had a bit of spotting and I know a few others have too so try not to worry too much...easier said than done, I know! 🙄😩
@HopefulllHolly sending you all the love tomorrow for your scan - can't wait to hear how it goes! 🥰💕💜

ThePeachGoose · 23/06/2024 21:43

Thanks @HopefulllHolly that’s very sweet of you 🙌

I’ll keep you all in the loop about tomorrow, and the next 2 weeks 🤞🏻

ThePeachGoose · 23/06/2024 21:48

Thanks @DogMummy87 that’s all very reassuring, honestly

HopefulllHolly · 23/06/2024 21:55

Thanks for the good luck wishes @ThePeachGoose and @DogMummy87 ! I’ve been distracted this weekend but now my minds gone to it - I wish I could be more positive and listen to my own advice! My appointment isn’t until 2pm so have most the day to worry 🤣 For now I’m off to bed as I think I’m getting ill - had a migraine all day and getting a sore throat.

Great to hear about all the scans going well :) Just wondering if anyone else is much more tired than usual? I’m on prednisolone (steroid) at the moment along with the rest of my protocol and had to drop the
dose after my scan the other day and feeling so so tired since then. Hoping it’s just an early pregnancy symptom 🤞🏻🤞🏻best of luck for tomorrow @HopefulllHolly

HopefulllHolly · 24/06/2024 06:51

@Hopefulsummer35 Thank you! ☺️ Extreme tiredness is my only real pregnancy symptom to be honest! It’s like that hangover tiredness and usually hits me at 2pm but on my worst days I was tired from 10am 😴😴It’s gotten slightly better the last week though like my other symptoms. They seem to have changed from nausea and things to terrible headaches, emotional (cried at Mrs doubtfire 😂😂), a bit tired, sore boobs are back, some food aversions and extreme bloating especially at night. So yeah I’d probably say it’s a pregnancy symptom for you but equally could be the drugs too! Progesterone made mine worse I think! Hope it goes away soon for you.

Hello!

Please can I join? I am 5 weeks 4 days pregnant with an IVF baby. This is my first experience with IVF so I'm a bit new to all of this! I have low AMH, age 32, DH is 31. We had 5 eggs collected 4 mature, 3 fertilised but only 1 made it to transfer but it was a morula so most likely turned to blast on day 6 but clinic did my transfer at day 5 anyway and I was convinced this round would not work whatsoever. Your thread has been super helpful with understanding symptoms to expect and I'm so glad scans have gone well over the weekend for those who were waiting on them!

Our first scan is not until 9th July where I'll be 7 weeks 5 days as we are away for a few days next week and the wait is killing me. Symptoms wise I have had cramping (was terrible a few days ago which set my anxiety wild but thankfully calmed down), TIRED all the time, bloating is so bad I look like I have a bump already. I know its mad but I keep testing still to make sure lines are strong, it is an obsession lol.

Edf · 24/06/2024 08:26

@HopefulllHolly super good luck today 💕

welcome to all the new posters, it’s lovely to see such positive Ivf outcomes 🥰🥰

Natty2 · 24/06/2024 08:39

@HopefulllHolly good luck today!
@hopefullsosbry fingers crossed for some good news on your bloods too.

Congrats on everyone's scans this weekend!

I'm still impatiently waiting for first scan next week! 5+3 today, did anyone have many symptoms at this stage? I feel like other than being abit tired and waking up in the night to wee and struggling to get back sleep i feel ok.. slightly worried of course that I should be feeling more, but maybe they might start by 6 weeks..

@oliviagrace2307 one day behind you 🥰 congrats on your bfp
