FET June 2024

Hi,

Is anyone else planning on a FET in June? ☺️

I had my second cycle of ICSI in April and now have 8 frozen embryos.

I didn’t have a fresh transfer in April as there was some fluid left in my endometrium from ivf medication. I thought it best to wait till June so by then my body will be fully recovered.

🤞

Hi can I join?

I will be transferring 10th of June hopefully (initially was supposed to be 03/06 but because no transfer slot on that date at care leeds and my holiday we have had to push it forward)

I had my fresh cycle ICSI in Feb/March which didn't stick

Had my prostap injection to start my FET on 01/05, had my scan to check lining which was okay to start oestrogen tablets (would have started tomorrow but delayed to next week Thursday now along with blood thinners), 27th will go in for my buserilin injections as my prostap will be out of system and due to risk of my ovaries naturally throwing a party they want me to be in down reg sate, 03/06 day 12 scan and then hopefully fingers crossed 10/06 transfer. My timeline is all over the place now

Wonder if anyone else had an issue after prostap i started my period last week Wednesday and usually lasts 6 days and I'm day 7 and its still bleeding but it comes and goes. So odd and annoying

Serendipity24 · 15/05/2024 19:32

Hi, we are planning a FET in June. It will be our second FET using DE. The last one ended with a 6 weeks miscarriage, so taking this cycle off. If all goes well then probably looking to transfer some time during the week of 17th June.

Sherr33 · 15/05/2024 19:38

@Serendipity24 sorry for your loss.

@amkw @Serendipity24 do you have a protocol and list of meds etc for your FET

@Sherr33 Mine is a natural one so no medication for me. The consultant said I don’t need progesterone pessaries but I may just take them as surely they can’t have any negative affect?

fingers crossed for you mid June!

@amkw how does the natural process work?

I wish mine had been natural now. I don't like how I feel on some of the medication 😕

@Sherr33 for the natural one you phone them on the first day of your period and they get you in for a scan at about day 10 and then you test for ovulation yourself using a clear blue. You phone them when you get your surge and they aim for a transfer 5 days after that!

Thanks @Sherr33. I am doing a natural modified cycle. You don't take any medication and get a scan around CD9/10. Depending on the size of the follicles and lining, you may need to repeat it after 2 days. Then the clinic will tell you when to take hCG shot (Ovitrelle). Transfer is 7 days after the shot. You also start taking progesterone, either pessaries or injections, a few days before the transfer as instructed by the clinic.

@amkw when in June are you transferring?

Anna531 · 15/05/2024 22:54

Hi Ladies can I join- FET planned for 4th June, it’ll be our first after the last two plans didn’t quite work out!

Faith2024 · 15/05/2024 23:02

Hi all

@Sherr33 & @Serendipity24 I recognise you both from other threads. I think I am most likely having a transfer 20-24th June or around that time. I was hoping for a natural cycle but was recommended a medicated one so I am taking that advice.

I am can’t wait to get started. This will be my first transfer. I am not looking forward to some of the meds but it is temporary.

@Serendipity24 i’ve worked out in my head based on when my period will be due that my transfer will be around 25 June. This can fluctuate though, I guess it all depends when I come on but I am regular so that’s good.

Hi @amkw thanks for starting this thread!

We have 3x embryos in the freezer from first round of IVF last month but couldn’t do a fresh transfer due to moderate OHSS. Feeling much better now and counting down the days until we can start our medicated natural FET cycle on approx 1st June. Worked out well also be transferring around 21-25th June if my period starts on time!

fingers crossed 🤞

@amkw wishing you luck! is this your first round? It’s our first try, unexplained with all normal tests.

I’m on CD13 of my natural cycle between the egg collection and FET, hoping it’s a normal length to keep us on track but no sign of ovulation yet. Every day counts and I just want to get started 😂

What has your cycle length been like after egg collection cycles?

This is my second cycle of ICSI - male factor.

I wasn’t given enough medication for my first cycle so I only ended up getting 2 eggs - both made blastocyst and were good grade but one failed to implant and the other was a chemical.

My medication was upped for this round and I’ve got 8 frozen embryos. (11 collected, 10 fertilised and made day 5 blastocysts but only 8 were suitable for freezing)

I couldn’t have a fresh transfer in April as I had some fluid on my endometrium cavity which was from the medication.

As I’m doing a natural FET it’s pretty straightforward (thank God) but I’m currently deciding whether to add progesterone - they’ve said I don’t need to but I can if I want.

i hope you ovulate soon so you can get started! It’s a waiting game isn’t it!

Hi all, can I join? I do recognise some of you from other threads:)
I’m currently doing a natural cycle frozen transfer. I’ve got my lining scan booked for this Wednesday, CD10.
This is my first frozen transfer, I’ve got a 5AB & 5BB frozen. My fresh transfer resulted in my little boy.
Feel free to ask me any questions🩷 Hope everyone is well xx

did you take progesterone supplements with your natural frozen? X

Hi ya,

Can I join please? My cycle day 1 will be around 1st June and I will have an FET medicated cycle from then. We had a failed transfer in January, and then did ERA testing last month. We have three euploid embryos left. So really hoping this one works.

Fruitypineapple · 19/05/2024 23:19

@amkw Hey, nope I’m not taking any supplements. I’ve really been focusing on taking vitamins, eating healthy although I do enjoy the odd chocolate bar or bag of crisps. I’ve been trying to do lots of walking each day as I’ve read it can improve lining x

Sierra26 · 20/05/2024 08:54

@amkw 8 blastos in your recent round is great. We only got 3 despite having 20 eggs so I’m hoping if we had to do another collection round we could tweak the meds and dosages to get better result.

My understanding of progesterone is that supplementing can’t do any harm. What have your levels been like on typical day21 tests?

I still haven’t ovulated in this current cycle (between EC and FET) :( so expecting it to be long/delayed. I’ve read about others having a longer cycle after egg collection so not totally surprised, just really want to get going and has been predicting CD1 as 1st June.

I have my nurses appt tomorrow to get meds and everything organised.

Sierra26 · 20/05/2024 09:02

Also something I hadn’t expected is how hard socialising is while going through all of this…

we’ve not really told any of our friends about what we’re going through. And we don’t have much in the way of holidays or plans for the year as we’re being guided by treatment dates etc., making the conscious decision to prioritise this.

So im finding socialising quite hard as I feel like I have NOTHING to talk about - im hiding the most important /interesting thing, the thing that is actually taking up most of my time and energy, and at the same time have very little else I can actually bring to a conversation to fill the space.

im not fine but need to pretend to be fine - it’s making me tired and grumpy!!

Serendipity24 · 21/05/2024 22:36

@Sierra26 I completely agree, pretending that all is okay is tiring. We are also finding socialising to be tricky as only my parents and sisters know. It is also putting us in awkward situations that we could do without at this stressful time. For example, a group of friends are organising a get together around the time we might be in Spain for the transfer. We went away for our first FET the last time we had a similar get together, so it might look like we are trying to avoid them when all we are trying to do is to get pregnant! 🙃

Sherr33 · 22/05/2024 06:57

@Sierra26 @Serendipity24 I can second that. For me the FET has been more tiring and making me so emotional. I had such uncomfortable rare side effects on prostap and I cant be bothered with anyone at the moment. But its like im also losing people in process because they don't know what I'm doing and not just losing I feel isolated I guess. Sometimes I get bitter towards my partner because im expected to go about my day like everything's fine. Or if im upset I domt feel like I get the comfort I need. So when he ups and leaves to go out with mates and then says oh we won't do this because your feeling x y z I feel even more low. 😔 yesterday was horrible I got the news id failed a job interview, my order was lost, a message that triggered me and food had gone bad and then a jar of pickle fell on my head, then when it came to getting intimate I found it felt so weird and painful. And that was the last straw I felt so defeated yesterday. I don't know if its normal but is sex painful for anyone else? 😔😖

@Sierra26 3 blasts is still a very good result and it only takes one!

I’ve never had my progesterone tested - he just said as I ovulate and my periods are regular then that’s a sign my progesterone levels are ok! I wish I would have tested them though but I don’t think I can now as I don’t want to delay my FET even longer if there’s no actual need for me to test my levels.

I agree with everyone about the distance with friends and socialising. I’ve cancelled the last 3 times my friends have all went out as 2 of them have recently had a baby and I just don’t want to hear about them all night. 🥲I don’t feel like I have anything in common with them anymore, they all know I’m struggling with IVF but they think I’m having a break. I’ve been quite open with IVF.

@Serendipity24 thats so tricky, I couldn’t imagine having to organise to get to Spain for appts! It’s nice you’ve told some family though, I hope they’re able to offer some support when you need it. Have you stated your protocol?

@Sherr33 sorry you’re having a tough time , especially your awful day yesterday :( fertility ends up affecting so much than just ‘getting pregnant’ doesn’t it. I can really relate to a lot of what you’ve said - especially being expected to just pretend everything is fine when in reality this is ALL you’re thinking about. I feel like I’m wearing a mask and am just being this fake version of me while deep down it’s destroying me. Because what else can we do? If it doesn’t work, I still need to have a reality to return to so I don’t want to allow myself to surface the real emotions too often. Probably not healthy but it’s all I can do! We’ve found the ‘scheduled’ intimacy strange and sometimes difficult/awkward, but I’ve never found it painful… do you think any of the meds you’re on might be contributing? Could be something to mention in your next appt if it’s worrying you?

@amkw im the same, all my best friends have had babies recently so it’s the main topic of conversation. I’m glad to be part of it but it’s quite one sided, I just ask them about themselves and don’t contribute much about me. Which is why I’m finding it so tiring!

I had my protocol consult yesterday to pick up prescription etc. They’ll be suppressing my natural ovulation with ganirelex for a week from CD1, plus estrogen to build up lining, then transfer once 8mm+. So I’ll need progesterone supplements as I won’t have a corpus luteum to produce my own (whereas @amkw i think you will as you’ll be ovulating as normal?).

Now just waiting for period - I’m on CD17 and still no sign of ovulation. Nurse said this is normal after EC cycle but the waiting is torture!

@Sierra26 Yes this is the thing, I’m going to have to phone them up again today as I want a yes or no from the consultant regarding whether I take progesterone supplements or not. He said I don’t need them but if I want them I can have them. (I mentioned my friend who had a successful ivf had them but she didn’t ovulate)
Now I’m worrying as if I take them and don’t need them can this cause harm?

I’m constantly finding new things to worry about!

@Sherr33 I don’t find it painful having sex but we honestly barely have sex now as we are relying on this ivf to work. Timing sex was too stressful for us tbh and it caused arguments!
