Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

I was on it last time too. However that was short protocol and no down reg. Fingers crossed that with the down reg it will work better this time. Time will tell.

Snowdrop131 · 02/06/2024 10:18

@GwenH82 I was on prostap and ovaleap this time but used synarel last time in a different clinic. Prostap one injection alot easier than synarel. 🙈

@GCS34 Transfer is 8.45am Monday all being well they will only know Monday morning if embyro has developed enough... 🤞

SlinkMcSlink · 02/06/2024 10:23

@Snowdrop131 I hope it’s positive news for you in the morning. Bet you’re wanting the weekend to be over already! Anybody else feel like that? You’re just waiting for the next date and the next.

@SlinkMcSlink yes x 1000000000! I’m just wishing time down to Tuesday to find out when I can go again, then I’ll probs chill out until about week before stims then I’ll turn into a nightmare again waiting 😂

so much luck for tomorrow @Snowdrop131 fingers crossed this time tomorrow you’re PUPO

CakePigeon30 · 02/06/2024 14:19

Good luck with transfer tomorrow @Snowdrop131 and @FlutteryButtery2

I’ve just had to delete my Instagram for a few months. Work colleague did a big announcement about twins. I already knew as I figured it out probably sometime the beginning of last month.

Anyway, I’ve 100% decided that I will never ever post an announcement (if it ever even happens) because it’s just painful to people going through this. Going into protective mode and keeping myself quiet for a couple of months. I can be happy for people on here as it feels like a safe and honest space but struggling with the ‘we’re so fertile, we weren’t even trying brigade.’ Totally irrational of me. Can’t wait to listen to this for the next couple of months in work whilst injecting myself. Might start going on a walk a couple of times a week just to get a break from the twin talk.

I hope the baby shower wasn’t too painful to sit through either. I don’t think I’d be celebrating until a baby was in my arms and even then it would be in private because I wouldn’t want to hurt women who are struggling.

😢

SamVan · 03/06/2024 01:40

@SlinkMcSlink I think we are on the exact same cycle. I also expect to start stims on 20th June (period expected then). I’m on a short protocol - gonal f, feymadel, then either busulin/hcg trigger. Totally get what you mean about people getting pregnant - since we started trying I feel like every person I know has gotten pregnant. I have baby showers constantly. It’s really hard when people get pregnant first go. It’ll be our time soon though, I just know it!

Separately, does anyone know what amh level necessitates a freeze all? One doctor at my clinic said I had to do a freeze all as my amh is 35 but another said we can wait and see if I am high risk for ohss.

SlinkMcSlink · 03/06/2024 05:59

@samvan When about do you think your egg collection/transfer will be? I keep looking up dates.

Good luck everyone today!

@FlutteryButtery2 @Snowdrop131 good luck ladies. Let us know how you get on!!!

@SlinkMcSlink soery to hear you’ve had a bad social media day. I actually came off it in October after my miscarriage as I was getting targeted ads for prams, as well as everyone I know doing announcements and it just got too much and found it was negatively affecting my mental health. So I came off and actually been so much better since!! I find my anxiety has improved and I don’t feel as low. It’s definitely worth considering.

but yeah it’s a lot isn’t it and makes you question how you’ll do things yourself when your turn comes. And yes here’s a safe place with likeminded people with similar struggles. And it’s not a bright celebrate here. It’s a humble one. Hope you’re okay and it won’t be too hard at work today.

baby shower wasn’t too bad. It was one of my best friends who also had ivf but the hardest thing was, we started stims together last year so I should have been having my baby shower too and would be due in 3 weeks time so that was the toughest bit. But it was actually a really nice day.

@SamVan hey 👋 exciting you have a buddy! I’m hoping I’ll be with you girls too - find out tomorrow if I can start end of the month too. I don’t think amh dictates freeze all, it’s the number of follicles. My amh is 64.7, but it was only when I topped 40 follicles and my bloods were done and my estrogen was 4,000+ they switched to a FA last time, so think it’s dependent on how you respond as opposed to your amh level.

FlutteryButtery2 · 03/06/2024 10:23

Thank you
I feel sick!

Hope you got on ok @Snowdrop131 xx

GwenH82 · 03/06/2024 10:36

@SlinkMcSlink it's hard isn't it.my best friend is pregnant and while I am very, very happy for her (she had an ectopic last year too) I just have had to distance myself a bit as I can't cope with the feelings it is bri inging up. I'm so jealous and so angry which is very much not her fault but it hurts so much.

Our 1 little embyro transfered.. now the dreaded wait.. they said was grade A- so sounds good but ya's know what this rollercoaster of journey is like is all chance . 🤞

@FlutteryButtery2 hope your transfer went well x

Last time I had negative pregnancy test from failed transfer, 3 of friends gave birth same week had new born photos sent to me. Is very difficult unless ur going thrgh it don't think anyone would understand.

FlutteryButtery2 · 03/06/2024 13:49

@GCS34 I'm hoping excited! We’ve just arrived so now waiting for our appointment time

Glad your morning went well @Snowdrop131 - fingers crossed for you

@Snowdrop131 Great news and great quality too! What a difference to before hey! What day is OTD and will you test early or sticking it out the full hog?

That's so sad when it all aligns that way. I agree that social media is just not the place when you're in a vulnerable position as we are. I am the only one of my friends now without a child / pregnant, and I am certainly feeling it now! Do your friends / family know you're going through IVF?

@FlutteryButtery2 I hope you're officially PUPO now and the little embaby is nustling in for the next 9 months!

SamVan · 03/06/2024 14:32

@SlinkMcSlink I expect my egg collection will be on the 4th of July, day 14 of my cycle. I think it’s hard to predict though, might depend on how quickly I start stims (my clinic says day 2-4) and how quickly I respond. I’m hoping I don’t overestimate as I’d love to do a fresh cycle rather than wait another month! do you know when yours will be?

I am doing the embryo transfer under sedation too so I need to make sure my collection is a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. If not I’ll have to do a freeze all and wait till the next month anw.

@GCS34 thanks for the input on the freeze all! The junior doctor I spoke to said if amh is over 20 it’s a compulsory freeze all at my clinic (Guys) but I’ve heard otherwise from the nurse so no idea what’s going to happen. Crossing fingers for you that you get to start this cycle too! When do you expect to start?

which clinic are you guys doing your ivf in?

FlutteryButtery2 · 03/06/2024 15:05

@GCS34 transfer went ok thanks they weren’t quite at blastocyst stage so they’re calling tomorrow to see if the other two are freezable and had to change catheter halfway through as I apparently have a kinky uterus - whodve thought? 😂

Will be lurking for a little while - urine test on 13th and blood test on 16th

SlinkMcSlink · 03/06/2024 15:23

@SamVan I’m not entirely sure when mine will be because after the catheter test last week, they mentioned something about doing a frozen day 3 transfer? Nothing is set in stone yet obviously. They had a bit of trouble trying to get past my cervix as it’s scarred. Although IVF gives you some control back, there are still so many unknowns/variables. I do hope it’s the beginning of July and they won’t make me wait.

Currently trying to think of what to say when I start coming in and out of work for scans without letting the whole workplace know. Rather not discuss it as it feels a bit too personal. Our families are unaware that we’re going through this. I’m not sure why we haven’t told them. Just neither of us want any unsolicited advice probably.

Im at the Hewitt centre in Liverpool. Anyone else?

@FlutteryButtery2 hurrah! Congratulations on being pupo! 10 days until the urine test isn't too bad - least they don't make you wait the full 14 like my clinic do! Although I've tested on day 11/12 the past few.
Was the one they transferred today a blast or is it the other two that they're wanting to freeze that they're keeping going?

Well there you go - learn something knew every day! Maybe that's why egg collection was a bit lengthy!

@SamVan Why will you have to do a freeze all if your egg collection is Monday or Tuesday? That seems hugely unfair that they will make you do a freeze all if your EC doesn't align up to a weds, thurs or friday?

I think it's case by case to be honest, and they can't have a one size fits all, as everyone is different and everyone needs a different protocol and plan of action, depending on what they need, so I don't think it's as black and white as that. Is there a chance you could over stimulate? Do you have PCOS?

Don't' know on starting - find out in my consultation tomorrow on the plan, review of the last round and when we can go again. Hoping end of the month but we'll see. I don't have faith for some reason!

FlutteryButtery2 · 03/06/2024 17:36

@GCS34 none of them were blasts, they were all compacted which I believe is the day before they get to blasts
so they're hoping it’ll take off in utero and the other two will be ok to freeze. But will assess tomorrow

I want to be excited but also don’t want to be incase this isn’t the one

@GCS34 I have to home test the 13th so not too long to wait so don't think I'll test early sometimes they say can get false positive so wouldn't want get my hopes up. My family know and 1 or 2 of my friends know that doing ivf but never told them exactly when as think it'd be too much ppl knowing if it didn't work again.

@FlutteryButtery2 fingers crossed your other two make it for freezing stage and one they choose is in best place to develop x

@SamVan that's crazy that your clinic don't do fresh transfers unless fits into thier schedule!? The embyro transfer is very much like a smear test so sedation usually wouldn't be needed?

Toon49 · 03/06/2024 19:17

I'm due to start stimulation drugs Wednesday and my husband has a fever and just tested positive for COVID! Going to ring the clinic in the morning not sure if we'll need to cancel or if it's going to ruin our chances absolutely gutted it's just typical our luck feel like we're cursed!

SlinkMcSlink · 03/06/2024 20:08

Normally sedation isn’t needed for egg transfer however I’ve been told after my catheter test that they couldn’t finish because it became that uncomfortable that i would likely become sedated for it. The reason being is that they will have to use a technique to open up my cervix as there’s scarring. The catheter test is done as a sort of practise run before the egg retrieval/transfer if you have had lletz procedure for cancerous cells as they like to make sure that they can get through without wasting the embryo if that makes sense? Obviously cases will be unique to individuals and it’s only because I’ve had two lletz procedures in my 20s. I said to the nurse that I wished I’d never done these procedures now but she basically told me off and said that precancerous cells at grades 2/3 should be removed and not to think that anything done in the past has put me in the position I’m in now.

That’s what I’m finding about this whole process. There’s no one size fits all. There’s so many variables.

@Snowdrop131 i hope it’s worked for you. Keep yourself rested as much as possible.
@Toon49 awww no!!!! That’s so rubbish! What a time to get covid.
@FlutteryButtery2 Good luck!!

CakePigeon30 · 03/06/2024 20:19

@Toon49 oh no!! Let us know what they say. I'm not sure what the rules are around covid with IVF.
