Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

@SamVan sorry I'm in the North East and have no clue where Guys is, but I'm sure I have seen it mentioned on other threads

@GCS34 welcome. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage but fingers crossed this cycle is the one.

@FlutteryButtery2 glad it went well!!

I picked up my medication yesterday, thought I would have the first injection at the same time but been asked to start Monday instead - I've actually booked back in for them to do it for me as I'm worried about the first one! Are the injections horrible?

@CakePigeon30 thanks for the welcome! Let’s hope this round is the baby round! After 5 transfers I was feeling pretty defeated this time last week but I’m feeling optimistic to start again and get chatting next week on the plan.

I was super nervous of the injections but too but they’re not bad! Have you got an epipen or is it a syringe? What brand is it you’re on?

@FlutteryButtery2 well done on the EC! 🥰 glad you didn’t feel anything in surgery and think I had pain after too, and I was in theatre for 50 mins So I think it’s quite common. I was also on estrogen patches, pills (6x day!!!) and 3 x pessaries. Hows the head? Hopefully after a good sleep and some food tonight you’ll feel back to normal tomorrow 🤞

what clinics you both at?

CakePigeon30 · 29/05/2024 17:58

@GCS34 I'm on prostap for down regulation, it's a syringe but luckily only need to take one on Monday and then one on 25th June as it lasts for couple of weeks at a time. After that I'm on daily injections of meriofert - haven't got that one yet but presume also a syringe.

Are you on long or short protocol? Are you changing anything from your previous cycle?

@GCS34 at the QE hospital in the North East, am funded through NHS. What about you?

Surgery was uncomfortable but I don’t think I was an “average” case - don’t want anyone to think that’s how it goes as the other ladies around me were in and out as if they’d not had anything done

I think I was in for around 45 mins but like I say there was manipulation involved

Head feels fuzzy but migraine gone - hopefully that’s where it stays!

@CakePigeon30 to be honest I’m a big wuss when it comes to needles - I think it depends what you’re on
I had Gonal-F pen and didn’t feel that one go in, then added cetrotide which was a needle and syringe and probably only felt 50% of them and my trigger was buserelin - didn’t feel the needle go in but suspension was slightly thicker so was a tad stingy but nothing awful
The best way I found was to do it in bed, don’t lie flat but prop yourself up gently and take your time, my clinic sends out videos via email to remind you on how to do it but YouTube have some good tutorials aswell

@GCS34 Im at a private clinic in Cambridge

@CakePigeon30 i echo what @FlutteryButtery2 said - 50% of them didn’t really hurt for the cetrotide, only when my husband was ham fisted! I found him doing them easier. Meriofert is a syringe - it’s the same as Menopur and I used that for ovulation induction last year. It’s great you’re funded. It helps so much! What date do you start meriofert? Not sure on next protocol yet - I have my meeting next week with my consultant to discuss what they’re going to do differently next time but I think I’ll be on meriofert/Menopur too. But we’ll see. I’ll go on 30 injections a day if it means it’ll work.

@FlutteryButtery2 sorry I misread your original message that it didn’t hurt - my bad. Sorry you’re feeling a bit manhandled and it wasn’t a straightforward one. Hopefully that’s the only one you have to ever have 🥰🤞

I am at a private clinic in Nottingham.

FlutteryButtery2 · 29/05/2024 20:00

@GCS34 I think I could cope with the discomfort of the procedure again, just not the migraine I got on the way home - really hasn’t helped things

I went to a clinic in Nottingham at the start of this year but they were not for us - we do t have any private or nhs clinics in our county

CakePigeon30 · 29/05/2024 20:08

@GCS34 have a scan on the 25th and then if all goes well starting stims either the 26th or the 28th June, find out at the scan.

@FlutteryButtery2 are you having to travel far to your clinic if you don't have any on your county?

OP posts:
FlutteryButtery2 · 29/05/2024 20:20

@CakePigeon30 I think it’s something like 120mile round trip - roughly an hour and 20 each way on a good run so not too bad

@CakePigeon30 ohhhhh hopefully we’ll be stim twins! I am hoping to start around then too. I hope anyway. Have you got your protocol for this cycle? Have you done one round already did I read?

@FlutteryButtery2 hope the headache goes soon and you get a good call tomorrow. 🙌 which Nottingham clinic did you view? Shame it wasn’t for you.

FlutteryButtery2 · 29/05/2024 21:30

@GCS34 CREATE fertility but they were dishonest after we’d spent a reasonable amount of money - then lost my documentation 🙄
To be fair that was 100mile round trip so not much in it travel wise
Thank you, I’ve just been outside for half an hour telling my other half how to feed the animals 😂 I feel much better head wise

@CakePigeon30 will have fingers crossed for your scan - it’s hard waiting isnt it?

CakePigeon30 · 29/05/2024 21:34

@GCS34 yes long protocol, egg collection penciled in for 8th July but depends on how I get on with the medicine obviously. First cycle, but been hovering around these boards for a while. Was referred by GP in June 2023 but had to lose two and half stone to get my BMI down

@FlutteryButtery2 ah yeah I’ve not heard great things about create. They are really shady with their success rates and aren’t clear and don’t actively publish it. Makes you think doesn’t it? Awful they lost all your docs. I’m at TFP nurture fertility and very happy. I’m Glad you’ve found a clinic that works for you now. That’s the main thing.

haha what animals do you have? Glad you’re feeling better - I’m sure your partner was thrilled you were feeling brighter when you told him that 😂

@CakePigeon30 oh god of course you literally just said about being nervous for the injections. Sorry! I must have got muddled up with one of the other ladies. I do hope we’re stimming together. I have Lean PCOS with no periods at all, so I can random start providing the scan says everything is quiet, so I am hoping to get started end of month if they let me!

GwenH82 · 30/05/2024 09:08

@FlutteryButtery2 glad your ec went well.

@CakePigeon30 the injections really aren't that bad, I hurt myself more the first time i did it squeezing the skin on my stomach so hard I bruised it, I'd worked myself into such a state 😂 I had an ovaleap pen the needles are so fine you don't notice. Honestly!

Also is the username a sarah millican ref? 😂

I started down reg yesterday, a nasal spray called nafarelin (synarel) which isn't too bad but I keep getting headaches. Scan on the 12th to see if its all going to plan before starting stims. I just really want to at least get some flipping eggs this time.

FlutteryButtery2 · 30/05/2024 12:00

@GCS34 dogs horses sheep and chickens - keep me busy 😂
So all five got fertilised, Three survived overnight so fingers crossed they carry on growing and we go for implantation on Monday 🤞🏻
It was more that we’d paid for and had the initial scan and consultation, got some bloods done then they sent an email saying I could do the treatment and EC but not reimplantation because they felt I was too heavy for reimplantation - this was never mentioned at any point

feeling quite nauseous and still a bit tender this morning - am assuming that’s normal

Good luck @GwenH82 - thinking of you

@CakePigeon30 well done for losing the weight, I had to do similar.
when they weighed me yesterday I’d not put in any weight through treatment - I was so pleased because that was my biggest worry that I’d get there and they’d say they couldn’t do it because I’d gone above the bmi again

Snowdrop131 · 30/05/2024 12:30

Hey had our egg collection yest and 13 eggs but told today only one has fertilised. Is such a rollercoaster of emotions. This is our 2nd cycle 1st failed 2 transferred on day 5, none to freeze.
Any tips on staying optimistic 🙈

Hey @Snowdrop131 So sorry you're feeling a bit low today 😪It's just such a ride isn't it? Like a shit game of snakes and ladders. Did the embryologist say much / give any comment? Would you consider a Day 3 transfer?

@FlutteryButtery2 Hahah nothing like keeping it chilled at home hey! I used to have horses but I don't as an adult. Least you have a distraction to keep you busy!😂That's great news on the fertilization. Nausea is probably all the drugs I'd imagine, and the worry and anxiety I always think makes me feel nauseous too.
I can't believe that about CREATE. That is so bad, and awful that they lead you down the path to turn around say that they won't transfer. It's like they wanted to get you in, get all your embryo's stashed with them, then you're committed to staying there! So sad they victimise you like that isn't it.

@GwenH82 Hey good to have someone with me in round #2 club! 🙄It's a rollercoaster isn't it? So sorry you didn't get anything from the last cycle. Have they changed your protocol for this time to get a better result?
I had a failed first cycle, with 5 x embryos, 1 miscarrying and 4 failing, so I'm reluctantly in a second round too. I can get numbers, but the quality is so I'm not sure what they're going to do to get me better quality.. So I am with you on the optimism search too! However, I have been listening to some podcasts of late, let me know if you want me to share as they are helping for sure.

CakePigeon30 · 30/05/2024 15:10

@GwenH82 yea to Sarah Millican - love her - but also completely describes me walking past a cake shop lol

OP posts:
GwenH82 · 30/05/2024 15:33

@GCS34 yes they changed me to long protocol. The consultant did say it was very rare to ovulate early and the long protocol should stop that. Hopefully I'll get more follicles this time round too. I'm not sure we can afford another try so I'm very conscious of the fact that I'm in the last chance saloon so to speak. But I have no control over it and just have to go along for the ride.

GwenH82 · 30/05/2024 15:33

@CakePigeon30 I'm the same with cheese!

Snowdrop131 · 30/05/2024 17:32

@GCS34 they said they believe the reason was egg quality is not great. It such a rollercoaster ride yesterday was glad to get 13 eggs then today to be told just the 1. 🙈 they are going keep going to try day 5 transfer she did say u only need one but would let me know sat what quality the embryo is likely to be. Is the money too that think just hit me. If you had ones to freeze the next round would be cheaper if this one doesn't stick. Lol

@Snowdrop131 I think I have egg quality problems too so I can really relate and sympathise with you. Will they call you tomorrow to let you know how it's getting on? Come on little man - you got this! The little embryo that could and WILL. 💛The embryologist is not wrong that it only takes 1, but I agree, having back ups do help and take the pressure off a little. That said, I had 5 frozen and none of them worked, and spent a year going through them to find out none of them did, and now a year older, and back to the beginning again, so I guess theirs cons to every outcome (unless it's a baby, that's defo not a con! 😅)

Fingers crossed you don't need it, but have you considered using Access Fertility? Or are you already? That's who I'm going through for this round, and get 2 x rounds for a discounted price, and they even offer finance for a year at 0% if you didn't have the cash up front. They just work with your clinic to provide the funding.

@GwenH82 Ah is that what happened? It is super rare, so I really hope that doesn't happen again. How many follicles did you have during your monitoring scans before collection?
Fingers crossed for you this time!! Second cycle is apparently way better and better results.

GwenH82 · 30/05/2024 18:05

@GCS34 only 3. One of my ovaries didn't have any at all. Not a great first attempt in all honesty. I'm trying to stay positive for this round but some days are harder than others. They only gave me a 5% chance of it working but there is a part of your mind that says this is what my body is supposed to be able to do and it only takes one egg. If it fails again I have to think positively that at least I tried.

Toon49 · 30/05/2024 18:58

Hi everyone we are going for round 2 in June, start stims next Wednesday hopefully if all goes to plan! First round was incredibly disappointing had 9 eggs collected all fertilised but most failed within 24 hours and the last 2 arrested and were poor quality at day 3 so nothing to transfer.
We were literally told when we went into transfer so I sat there crying with a full bladder desperate to go home!
Like a few of you guys they suspected it was due to egg quality so they have changed to a long protocol and different stimulation drugs this time to hopefully get better quality eggs.
