IVF/ICSI June/July

Hi, couldn't see a thread for June yet so thought I would start one.

I'm on long protocol so actually starting down regulation on 28th May, egg collection not scheduled in until 8th July.

I am on NHS and this will be my first round. Was referred less than a year ago now and have managed to loose 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down.

Anyone else due to start around June?

The wait is by far the worst. OTD is the 29th and cannot come quick enough. It'll kill me not to test earlier.
I was same with the two IUI rounds. But that was ruined by a period both times.
We are same sex couple so my wife understands but doesn't at the same time so nice to have ppl here who get it!

yesh am ok just dieting and trying to chill the next few weeks ! Had a boozy weekend which was much needed for my niece birthday then it’s mine this week … more champagne I’m sure

just trying to relax not think about it and diet like a demon 😂

@Zeeha im so sorry I missed this. I’m so sorry you’ve had your EC cancelled. How disappointing for you 🥺 what is your cause for ivf if you don’t mind me asking? Is that something that could have contributed? The fact you do still have a shot this month with the 30mm is a glimmer of hope.

I had one ovulation induction round cancelled before due to not responding (when I’d over responded previously) so kind of similar.

@Zeeha sorry to hear that they've cancelled your egg collection. How are you feeling?

Hi @GCS34 that's ok! Our reason for IVF is male factor morphology being borderline, so I was never expecting something like this. One thing I have thought of since the scan is, I was put on the norethisterone shortly before I was due to ovulate the cycle before, rather than after ovulation. I think judging by the tests I did that it prevented me from ovulating. I'm wondering if maybe the dominant follicle from the cycle before remained and has thrown this IVF cycle out! The doctor did say this one dominant follicle will have surpressed the others so I'll definitely be asking if this could be the reason when I next speak to the clinic.

Hi @CakePigeon30 thank you. I'm quite disappointed and thinking I'm going to enjoy a lot of food tonight to cheer myself up lol. I'm glad there's still some chance for this cycle and if it doesn't happen, then it's hopefully just a delay. When we conceived our daughter it was on the first cycle of letrozole and the same trigger injection. As we were told the chance with that regime was 10-15% I'd mentally given up and was researching IVF, so it was a massive shock when it worked first time. Maybe we'll get that luck again! Who knows! The cyst does worry me though. Not something you want to hear!

@Zeeha sorry hear ur egg collection being cancelled that's crap mid cycle. So u have take trigger to start ovulation and try at home? Is there multiple follicles or just the large one they think will mature? I had cysts develop but they weren't too large so never stopped my treatment.

@Zeeha I’ve no idea I’m afraid with noristerone I’m afraid as I don’t ovulate so I have no idea what or when it is generally started. Maybe someone else can advise? I would like to think that your clinic was aware of that but it does certainly sound like it if it was that big and you didn’t ovulate the previous month.

regarding your daughter, that is REALLY promising on trying semi-natural this month! When are you doing the trigger and did they suggest a plan or just see what happens and then start again if not in August? I really am really sorry for you having it all cancelled. So frustrating and saddening for you.

Thank you @Snowdrop131. Yes I took the trigger shot an hour ago. Then they asked us to try at home tonight and tomorrow. I'll do a test in a couple of weeks if my period doesn't start or ring them on day one if it does. That's reassuring to hear cysts aren't a reason to fully stop a cycle! The doctor said it would be a waste to continue with the egg collection and that the other follicles were all all around 10mm, so he felt the large follicle had surpressed them from growing. When I looked online it suggests 30mm is getting to be over mature, so I'm not very optimistic!

@GCS34 thank you so much. From what I've read online your supposed to take the tablets after ovulation but before your period starts to delay your period so they can time the IVF cycle as they wish. The date I was told to start taking them meant it was before ovulation and shortened my regular cycle. They would have known that would happen as for my previous cycle my day 1 fell exactly on the day I told them it would and I regularly ovulate on day 14/15, yet I started the tablets on day 12 and my LH didn't peak. I'm finding their timing so bizarre now I look back on it! I took the trigger injection at 6pm tonight and I was told to test at home after 16 days or ring them on day 1 of my next cycle to go from there.

still have moments but went back to the gym today so just going to get back to normal exercise and food routine as I’ve put on 1.3kg since egg collection - am assuming some of it is fluid 😂

@Zeeha did they say anything about that during your scan or when they cancelled it? It certainly sounds like that but I’m not an expert and wouldn’t want to say if that was the case or not as I really don’t know.

that's great that you have the chance now though to try ‘naturally’ for the coming days. Lots of sex for you for the next few days!! 😂 that’s one bonus I suppose 😅 will you take extra progesterone?

@Zeeha I think they usually give it after ovulation. One clinic spoke to said it was always given on day 19. I recall wondering what happened if you ovulated late and they said I could take it a few days after ovulation if I timed my cycles. Equally they didn’t seem too concerned that some people might take it before ovulation. So I wouldn’t expect it to cause your systems typically. I just wanted it after as I wanted to try naturally that month and didn’t want to miss a shot.

Period has arrived today 4 days after stopping northisterone. All I can think of is I have to have my baseline scan on Thursday and that’s going to be disgusting being on my period with that tube thing shoved up me haha. Oh it’s all so glamorous isn’t it? Nearly time to start stims. Feeling like something is actually happening at last!!

@SlinkMcSlink Happened me before on my period. You'd be so embarrassed but they are so used to it. Won't care at all.

Ive been watching a lady called graceivfjourney on tik tok and she’s been in hospital with phase. Scared myself a bit!

@SlinkMcSlink I don't think I can wait 2 weeks I'm only on day 3.... I'm very impatient haha.
The fear is if you test too early you might get a false positive if HCG from trigger not gone or false negative if just too early.

I did it early with iui and then got obsessed testing and it was hard going on the mental health.

@ClaireBear101 it defo affects your MH if you test all the way through doesn it? When do you think you’ll test?

@SlinkMcSlink hoorah!! You’re on track for your scan on Thursday. Lucky date with dildo cam 😅 I have mine next Thursday to start so I will be about a week behind you! And @SamVan I’ll be a few days behind you as well. Least theirs a few of us.

@GCS34 I'm not sure I was thinking 27th rather than 29th... but if people know if there's an earlier date that still safe I'm open to advise haha.
