IVF/ICSI May or late April

Is anyone else gearing up to do IVF/ICSI in May?

My meds have arrived and I start my down regs next week to start a long protocol ICSI cycle, my egg collection will then be mid-May.

Had my first ICSI cycle in Feb which resulted in only 1 embryo which was transferred on day 5, but BFN. I found the support group on here super helpful with my last cycle, so wondering if anyone else is in a similar position?

@CreamLampshade I’m really sorry to hear your test was negative. It’s a really stressful process and taking time for you both individually and as a couple is important. I have two friends who are in their early 40s who conceived naturally - it is possible, don’t give up hope! Having frozen eggs for the future sounds like a great idea.

No I have not tested again although I was tempted! I don’t have any tests in the house so I’ll send the other half to get some next week. Feeling a lot like I am expecting my period at the moment. Why are period and pregnancy symptoms so similar?! Argh 🙈😂

@2tuxedocats Ahhh well done for staying strong! And thank you for the kind words. My mums gone turbo and told all her friends so I’ve had lots of lovely messages but I’m really scared to get too carried away, atleast until I have a scan. My mums not got the memo about not getting carried away though bless her 😂🥹

I had period like feelings, but they’ve kind of gone now! Now I just am STARVING at all hours of the day, and I feel sick if I don’t eat. And I’m also really tired, plus not sleeping amazingly well. Besides that I feel totally normal. Occasionally I have what feels like I’ve pulled a muscle in my uterus, but I only notice it if I’m in bed and looking for it really. Been trying to calm myself down in that lots of people don’t really get symptoms, and everyone’s symptoms are different but it’s so hard! But I’d say period type pains are a good sign ✨✨

@CreamLampshade I'm so sorry to hear about your negative test. It sounds like you have a really good forward plan and a couple of options with either frozen eggs (so great you had some frozen!) or even potential for non ivf conception! I had two mothers in my NCT group with my son who both conceived naturally over 40 so it can definitely happen! I wish you all the luck for the future!

Apologies for potential tmi but Is anyone on the progesterone pessaries experiencing slight bleeding as well as cramping? It's not a lot just pink/red discharge along with the lovely waxy stuff but it's been happening for 5 days now. It may of course just be my period trying to happen and being prevented by the progesterone? I don't test until Monday but I will be delightfully amazed if it's worked this time thanks to poor quality embryo and the horrendous norovirus transfer week.

@Gnatalie16 i missed your message earlier. 44 fertilised eggs is fantastic, you must be over the moon with those numbers. Hope you want a big family, haha!

@wishfulbean how many days post transfer are you now? I guess the spotting could either be your period starting or implantation. Hopefully this might be implantation bleeding for you 🤞🤞🤞Can you ring your clinic to ask for advice? On my first cycle I could feel like my period wanting to start from about 8/9 days post transfer. Luckily my clinic does the official test day at 9 days post transfer so I could stop pessaries then and period came straight away.

@wishfulbean i don’t think you’re meant to get your period on the progesterone, it keeps your lining thick so if you got your period it would mean the dose wasn’t high enough. I don’t do them up the front so I don’t get the waxy stuff but I did get a tiny spot of pink discharge last Saturday, nothing since. But I think from all the forums I’ve read it’s a good sign! 🤞🤞

@wishfulbean I do mine up the back so no waxy discharge for me 😂 but I have had a light amount of spotting (dark brownish) for the past 3/4 days. I think it can mean implantation? 🤞 maybe call your clinic if you’re still worried.

My mood has been ALL over the place today! One minute I’m fine, the next I was in tears over a TV show 😂

@2tuxedocats Haha I had that kind of day the other day. Rage in one second where I literally did think I should get a plate or something to smash to make myself feel better. (Never done that in my life and am usually a very upbeat and calm person 🤣) And the next minute I was looking at my other half with our dog sat on him in the sun and started crying. It’s quite funny as you know damn well you are being insane but can’t control it.

I’ve just got home after being out and walking all day and I’m shattered. I started getting really achey hips and back and I think I’ve overdone it a bit. Bit silly really but wasn’t intentional, we went out for brunch together to have a mini celebration and then it was sunny so we wandered and wandered a little too far. Having to lie down now 😂

Thanks for the advice about the bleeding! I've unfortunately started bleeding quite heavily so it's like I'm on my period. I rang the clinic and they just said to keep on until Monday. I'm a bit frustrated I can't just test now and finish the progesterone and start prepping for a fresh cycle. I tested on day 10 with my son and it's day 11 (I think?) with this one so I'm not sure why they are prolonging it this time when I'm bleeding so much. Seems a little cruel to be honest and a waste of progesterone! Still, I'll do as they say.

@wishfulbean Oh no I’m sorry. Are you ok? They must think there is still a chance you could be pregnant or something surely? Or it does seem cruel! Do you have any tests you could try?

@wishfulbean .. sorry you are having bleeding .. that’s odd they say to wait but they must have their reasons ?? Have you tested at all ? I rooks be tempted to just test .. but I can’t help myself and tested at 5dp5dt on every one of my last transfers 🙈hope your ok and can relax a bit.

my bleeding seems to have tailed off today so hopefully that’s a good sign .. 1st scan on Monday to check how stims are going , (day 6 now) the mild cramps I was having seems to have stopped so I hope that doesn’t mean the stims aren’t working .. 🤔 I feel any change in my body and I am creating a negative scenario of what it could be !! What is wrong with me ahhhh!!! Dunno if it all the hormones are just the stress of it that I am overthinking .. roll on mid June when I know if it’s worked or not 🥴😩

@AnnieStar12 sorry you're bleeding! I've felt like I'm getting my period for the past 2 days.. I tested again this morning (stupid I know as it's my birthday) but it was negative so I know now for sure I am not pregnant. I feel like you and wish I could just stop the progesterone and just get the confirmation and move on :( i am doing the pessarys 3x a day though so I doubt I will actually start bleeding but I feel like my body is trying hard! I hope you're ok though xx

@HopefulllHolly @hopefullsosbry I did a test using a basic early test and it's negative. I'll try again in the morning but I'm not expecting a change. My clinic is actually closed at the weekend so it was the emergency doctor and I think they just have to say wait until test day even though in my previous round this day was test day. In all honesty I just want it over. I want to grieve for this round and the embryo that was transferred and then get myself together and focus on next steps but I feel I'm being left to wait arbitrarily until their office is open. I think I'll pass it on as feedback as the clinic has otherwise been good.

However, I am taking great solace in hearing about lovely positive results! I'm so pleased you and your partner were able to celebrate @HopefulllHolly!

@hopefullsosbry I have had discomfort when taking stims both this round and with my son but it wasn't consistent and was fine some days! We are on such a rollercoaster pumping our bodies with hormones I would try not to worry - much easier said than done because I'm sure all these hormones increase our worry, stress and anxiety 😆. Great combination!

I just wanted to ask if anyone experienced a bit of blood in their discharge during stimulation? On day 7 of gonal and day 2 of fyremedal.

Sorry for the TMI I've just been to the loo and saw some pinky discharge on the panty liner and then a speck of red blood in my discharge as I wiped. Just a bit worried that this shouldn't be happening and worried something is going wrong or is this to be expected and sometimes normal?

My mind is going into overdrive. 😢

Yeah thank you, my other half has looked after me, won’t let me lift a finger and cooked a nice healthy dinner for me and did the cleaning and washing. Feel a bit better but quite achey - my hips and back are so stiff. I’m really fit so I’m shocked at how sore I am!! It’s like I’ve done a marathon not 25k steps 🤣🤣

I'm 7 days past transfer now! I just feel like I would be getting a hint of a positive now if it was going to happen!? All my symptoms have gone, boobs aren't sore anymore, not bloated etc I feel like I'm not even feeling the effects of the progesterone anymore! Obviously can't comment 100% until the blood test but I think I just know now!

Ohhh bless him 🥹🥹 you're carrying precious cargo now 🙊 he will be making sure he is looking after you both! It's crazy how much you your body changes so soon after being pregnant! But all your energy will be going into growing a lovely strong baby! So rest up as much as you can 😍😍

@Ashleighlouise firstly happy birthday! I hope you've spent the day doing nice things to celebrate. I'm so sorry you are feeling it hasn't worked. There's a chance it will still be ok as day 7 is still quite early and can give a false negative. I'm also taking pessaries 3x a day so I'm surprised my period has come on but looking into it even at that dose it might delay it but won't always stop a period so my body is clearly taking charge!

@EvaA17 yes I had bleeding there from day 4 until today (day 6 of stims) tailed off today .. I called and the nurse said just to continue as normal with injections and not to worry to much , she said it shouldn’t really be happening but it’s not unheard off .. hopefully holly also shared a link I’ll try find it again , about others who have bleed on stims and had no complications .. so you should be totally fine hope you can try not worry as I got a bit upset with it at first!

It's just so hard to not get into my head when these things happen. I'm just so scared of it all going wrong or if I'm doing something wrong. All these thoughts run through my head. But today is a new day and I'm gonna remain positive.
I have my second scan tomorrow so I will speak to the doc and nurses about it then too and see what they say.
