@IVFfirsttimer91 super congratulations 🎉😍❤️🩷 I am always team girl!

@Sangels267 welcome back! Of course we remember about you! I can imagine how stressful it has been 🥺 But I am glad your baby is well. When we hear awful, sad stories our mind starts spinning. I am so, so sorry for your friend, I can't even imagine the pain 😔

ASGIRC · 06/10/2023 23:55

@Sangels267 Oh no, Im so sorry for your friend... That must be devastating.
And also sorry your nausea has been so bad!
Hope it starts improving now!

But yay for a goos 12 week scan!

@IVFfirsttimer91 yay girl!!!! Amazing!!!

Walker12 · 07/10/2023 06:18

Congratulations @IVFfirsttimer91 such nice news, she is lovely!!

Welcome back @Sangels267, sorry you've been feeling so unwell and also so sorry to hear of your friends loss, how awful. Its so hard not to focus on the negatives especially when it's someone close to you. But so glad your scan went well and your little one is doing ok

SH998 · 07/10/2023 06:49

@IVFfirsttimer91 massive congratulations on seeing your little girl, let the buying of pink things commence 😂🩷

@Sangels267 welcome back and so sorry to hear about your friend, the panic really does set in when you hear such terrible news so close to home. On a positive note glad to hear your feeling better and your scan went well.

@ASGIRC i don’t think we get free child care in Wales although I have heard something about it becoming available in September 2024 but it will be means tested so I take that as all working people will still need to pay as they do now, unemployed people will no doubt get this facility although they don’t need it 🙈

I can’t wait to see who’s having what in the next few weeks, we should all know within the next 2/3 weeks I think 🩷🩵👣👶

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 09:38

Thank you everyone!!! We are thrilled 😁!!! We got a sneak peak of her in 4d too which was really cool!! Going to go back at 28 weeks to see her in HD!

@Sangels267 Hello!! Welcome back!!! I’m really sorry to hear about your friend, that must have been really shocking. I’m glad to hear the nausea has subsided a bit now for you though!

@SH998 from sept 2024 working parents in England and wales will be entitled to 15 hours free childcare if your child is 9months old. I think then it goes up to 30 hours from 9 months old in sept 2025.

@IVFfirsttimer91 15 hours free childcare from 9 months would be great! But will it be for anyone or will it depends on how much parents earn? That is the age I would think of starting with nursery and for 2-3 half days per week, so that would be perfect for me

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 10:32

@Charming81 it says online that you qualify for free hours of childcare if neither parent brings home £100,000 per year. So we will be taking advantage of that as well when I go back to work. We will be paying for 2/3 mornings a week when she is 6months old when I go back to my first job as they are flexible with my hours, but then she will go for 2 mornings and at least 1 full day when I go back to my second job, depending on when her dads days off are (he’s a chef so he gets days off during the week rather than weekend).

Also… my first vinted purchase 🥰 I can’t remember who recommended this app but I LOVE it!

@IVFfirsttimer91 that is brilliant. I work from home and I am self employed. My odea is to restart working a bit when the baby will be 2 months old (3 max) but I know some of my students wouldn't mind if I have the baby with me. Husband mostly works from home as well so can help.

These are, obviously, ideal plans, then everything can change.

I have another scan on Tuesday. I hope everything will be fine and then I need to buy some maternity trousers because my jeans are really uncomfortable now.

I think I'll still wait for baby shopping, even though there are a tons of stuff I would buy!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 11:04

@Charming81 yeah it’s always good to have a back up incase things don’t go to plan. I was really happy when I read the laws were changing around it!

Im too excited now to wait to get little bits like clothing, but the big furniture will wait for.

is your next scan the cervix measurement one?

I’ve got a few appointments coming up now, midwife on the 13th, cervix scan on the 18th and then 20 week scan on the 30th! Busy month ahead!

OP posts:
Charming81 · 07/10/2023 11:42

@IVFfirsttimer91 no, my next scan is a private one just for my peace of mind. I don't have a cervix scanned planned so far. The nhs only booked me for the 20 week scan 17th November.

I'll see my midwife 25th October and I will ask her about the cervical scan, if they don't book one, on the 7th I plan to see my private gynecologist anyway, so he can do it for me.

I am havig so many scans! On Tuesday it will be my 7th, I know I sound mental, but it is the only thing that calms me down for a few days 🙄

I think my baby will be seen for a cardiac scan at 20 weeks and I will se my cardiologist at 24 weeks.

Sangels267 · 07/10/2023 11:53

Thank you everyone for your lovely and kind words! Looking forward to enjoy my pregnancy and fingers crossed my sickness/nausea has gone away. Today is the second day without tablets 🤞
I have bought two things on Vinted. I have a couple more on my Favourites but baby clothes sell really quick.

@IVFfirsttimer91 congratulations on your baby girl 🩷

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 12:12

@Charming81 i totally understand that! And to be honest any excuse to see baby is totally worthwhile, especially as it makes you feel better! It sounds like you have loads of appointments coming up as well!

@Sangels267 thank you so much! We are just so happy and excited! I’ve had to stop looking at vinted now as I was getting to purchase happy (not just for baby 😂, the dog may also have an item or two on the way)!

ASGIRC · 07/10/2023 12:58

@SH998 Before 2021 ours were also means tested (the state run nurseries, that is. Private ones were... private!). But from 2021 onwards it became free for everyone, full time, and even some private ones offer that facility (they get paid by the state). And then there are the private private ones, that you still pay for, if you can. Those are, obviously, much easier to get into!

@IVFfirsttimer91 That is sooooo cute!!!! It doesnt get cold enough here in Lisbon to justify a pramsuit, but they are soooo cute!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 13:47

@ASGIRC for £4 I just couldn’t resist! At Asda brand new you’re looking at £13 lowest! And as baby is due in March she will only wear it a handful of times before it gets too warm. An absolute bargain!! Will get her another second hand bigger one for her first winter when she is around 7 months old 🥰 I’m really on an endorphin high today lol.

OP posts:
SH998 · 07/10/2023 15:32

@IVFfirsttimer91 i love the little suit, it’s so cute 🥰. That’s good to know about free childcare, that might suit me as I’m hoping to work 3 long days do with my mother have the baby’s once a week it works well.
Vinted is lethal, I only joined early this week and on my 8th purchase lol 😂

@Charming81 i see why you would want peace of mind if I could afford more scans Id have one weekly, I really miss not seeing the little baby. I have a scan on Saturday, it will be my 6th 😂

@ASGIRC thats great having 5 days free childcare, that must be a massive relief not having to financially worry about that, I know you work unusual hours but every little helps.

Charming81 · 07/10/2023 15:50

@SH998 se for me, on Tuesday it will be my 7th scan 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ Shame on me! 🤣 But after this, if it goes well, I will have to wait 4 weeks! 😱 I'll go crazy 🤣

So, is it just me and @IVFfirsttimer91 who are sure about their babies' sex? Is any of you waiting till the birth for the surprise?

SH998 · 07/10/2023 17:01

@Charming81 it makes you feel a little dramatic at times having so many scans but if it puts your mind at ease which it has for me then so be it. We ain’t hurting anyone apart from our bank accounts 😂🤦🏼‍♀️🙈

I was sure that another knew the sex, maybe a boy?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 07/10/2023 18:24

I thought one other person knew as well and it was a little boy! But I could have dreamed that 😂

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 08/10/2023 18:26

Maybe @Walker12 ? I think its not a "for sure" thing, more a feeling?

I will be finding out in less than 2 weeks! No way would I be able to wait until birth. I dont understand how people do it.

SH998 · 08/10/2023 21:03

Anyone know what they do in a 20 week scan apart from the scan? My appointment is for when I’m 23 weeks which I don’t think is acceptable, should anything show wrong surely I’ll need to know before them.
I missed out on the syndromes tests as the 12 week scan was too late, I’m not happy to be almost 6 months pregnant having my 20 week scan.

Charming81 · 08/10/2023 21:22

@SH998 I would call them complaining about the 12 week scan and demand that they do the 20 week one earlier. Don't be too nice. Let them know you are very crossed already. It is unacceptable.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 08/10/2023 23:48

I would be upset by that as well @SH998 I would call your midwife and ask them to move it forward. I think the 20 week scan is where they do proper in depth examination of the babies organs to make sure they are healthy and developing properly

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 09/10/2023 00:30

@SH998 20 week scan should be done between 18 and 22 weeks, so definitely complain about it!!!

They check the development of the baby and look for any anomalies. It is, I would say, the most important scan!
So be firm!!

SH998 · 09/10/2023 07:49

Thanks all, considering I'm down with them as 'high risk' they don't appear to be taking this into account in fact they don't appear to be taking much into account at all!

Ill call the hospital who made the appointment today and see if they can change it, if not ill contact the midwife. I have the Quad test next Monday at the hospital so if I don't get any joy this week ill be kicking off then lol. Its always something to worry about, its bad enough us stressing ourselves without unnecessary shit like this making issues worse. The last scan done by them caused no end of tears and stress due to not being able to have the relevant screening as they left the scan too late I will not allow them to spoil another major milestone.

SH998 · 09/10/2023 09:29

Ooopps after stressing and being awake half the night I somehow have the wrong dates (cant find the paperwork but ill look again later) but apparently my 20 week scan is on 13th Nov so will be 20 weeks 5 days lol - my bad. I take it all back what I said about them.

I've no idea what the appointment on 29 Nov is for mind as it doesn't say so ill just go with the flow on that one.

Anyway happy Monday all :) :)
